I always liked International Clothiers, but I'm not sure why. I have too many fucking clothes anyway.

Major restaurants and stores not in your area?

Awesome. There should be bajillions more. Coupled with the short drive to the Falls, there's really nothing around here we don't have. -

Fewer injuries. FEWER RUNNERS STRANDED. And, most realistically, the BoSox need to stumble. -

I thought they were all done, save the Yonge St. location? -
Yeah, I didn't mean to downplay my excitement for actual programs, in fact, my goal was to have an HDTV by the 2008 Masters, specifically for that event. Marvin's news of this upgrade (which I heard of through a Bell rep a few weeks ago, for any fellow Canucks reading this) only sweetens the deal. I did see some of Planet Earth, but in NTSC, and I was pretty impressed. Just some of the shit I learned from it, as well as the overall work of it, is awfully amazing if you think of it.

Fucking awesome. Dick was one of the two or three people I'd have loved to slap across the face given the chance. It's gonna be weird watching old Simpsons with him on it now, in particular, when he's yelling all the time in 'A Streetcar Named Marge'

You could easily get a 32" LCD, even a decent name, for under a grand right now, and I'd go so far as to say less than $750. While it won't technically be the best you could get from your PS3 (*takes another swing at the dead horse), 1080i/720p is hardly anything to sneeze at. Just out of curiosity, how many PS3 games are 1080p? It's not quite all of them, is it? I'm actually more excited to get an HDTV for my 360, than I am for TV itself. Oh, and CNET is awesome for customer reviews. It's been invaluable to me for some advice at Wal*Mart.

Give us an over/under on the amount of times we'll hear about Van de Velde this week. Rod Black brought it up when mentioning TSN would have coverage of the Open, and this was during a ball game. And it's gonna be on ABC again, as it was in 99. By the way, who's doing commentary for it, with Baker-Finch and Faldo on CBS? Tirico and Zinger? A buddy of mine, who knows little about golf, said on the Tuesday of US Open week "Last night, my dad was watching some golf preview show, and they kept showing Phil Mickelson suck at the US Open last year". I assured him that while it was indeed shown a lot, being on different courses, it would pale in comparison to how much we'll see Van de Velde this week.

I can't get over how much better American KFC's are. Side dishes, especially. -
I hated it at first, but it grew on me. As fucked up as this is, I was fine with Sum 41's (yeah, I know) cover of Master of Puppets. Sheryl Crow was also my first thought, and Cartman's saying of 'shut up,hippie' mid-typing only cemented my agreement with KKK.

I think a tonne of that had to do with that Simpsons line. I never ever got the hate for Arby's. Two of my buddies insist on going to the Arby's near my house every time they visit, and it's not like they're that far away. They both live about 30 mins away, and typically come to St. Kitts about once a week. -
I mentioned this in the food folder a few months ago, and though it'll sound like an oxymoron, frozen juice being left in the freezer after purchase drives me up the wall. Leave it in the fridge so it's ready to go when it's being made. No need to stir the ice block until thawed.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

I hate Phil Collins on the ground we share a last name. I've never met a person who didn't find it hilarious to call me Phil. My mother's first name is Rhonda. She hates the Beach Boys for a similar reason. -
I think things would have remained about the same. I won't completely downplay how big the trade was to both sides, because it really did make both teams much better. But getting Roy is what really made the Nords/Avs the better team. The Flyers did have some success, losing in the Finals, and the Conference Finals, but they had made apretty big trade getting Leclair and Desjardins by that point. So while it's fun to consider, I can't see much difference on either side.

That's awesome. The build to the show itself in the first five minutes or so was absolutely terrific.

He's certainly an upgrade to the Oilers' man-advantage, a dismal 14.7 last year (27th). A bit of leadership isn't going to hurt either on a fairly rag-tag blueline, especially with Smith leaving.
-
I like how he also joined in on a Team Tree-Of-Woe corner dropkick with Dreamer, Spike, and Sandman against The Dudley Boyz and their posse that one event. ...or was that another ECW referee? Nope, that was Finnegan. Heatwave '98. EDIT: Wait, it may have been Jim Molineaux, who also once slapped and shoved the Dudley Boys when they argued a call.

As thrilled as I was and presumably everyone else was here upon hearing the news, I can't imagine how elated CC must be. The rest of us only heard about his shit. CC had to endure it as a fan. Yecch....and I don't mean to take away from how bang-on Max was.
-
My dad never watched ECW, but the first time he saw it, he became a mark for John Finnegan, especially how cower-y he'd be during an RVD splash, or how terrified he'd look during a big spot.

Edmonton should have taken Montreal. There was more than enough offensive punch to get a few past Roy, and Fuhr should have taken care of most of the Habs. I don't see a blowout, but I do see Edmonton in no worse than six, and probably five. On the other hand, Montreal would have won in 1993, but likely in six or seven. Roy won the Conn Smythe that year for a reason, and they had also rebounded after dropping the first two in the first round against Quebec.
-
So when you said that the first time, you meant it sincerely? I thought you were being facetious....I don't follow how Crosby or Ovechkin or Anze or Nash getting clobbered is a good thing for the marketability of the league.

I don't see it as a "Gretzky" rule. Gretzky wasn't touched not because he was a star, but because he had a guy who would beat the tar out of anyone who dared hit him. The idea that the stars shouldn't be touched because they're stars isn't bad, but there should be more substance to it. I see this as leading to a discussion of how the instigator rule should be abolished.
