As Max will tell you, Savard's been my boy for years. That could be in jeopardy pending the result of tonight's game. However, keeping my Hab bias in check, I'd really like to see Bergeron, Kessel, Lucic, and Kreicji* play more. *I'm not sure how to spell it either. I also really really like the new HNIC theme, more and more each time I see it. The opening with the graphics is fantastic, and it's pretty nice to see Linden and Fleury immortalized, given their "cult favourite" type of status.

Here's one, for the sake of discussion: I had supper with my grandparents the other night, in a place that had HD on its screens. When a commercial came on and showed 4:3, they asked why, and I explained the difference. They mentioned they'd seen friends "zoom in" on their screens, and wondered what I thought of it. I said "I leave mine 4:3 since I primarily watch HD anyway, but I figure I'm in the minority. I'd say a 70-30 ratio or so fill the screen at the cost of image quality." They agreed with me, but I wonder how accurate my ratio guess was - thoughts?

I'm on a bender in about two hours, interrupted by a brief sleep spell, followed by early work and a football marathon (I have a good feeling about tomorrow and gambling). You and the rest of America. Eh..I get NFL Network in HD no less and I actually have watched parts of if not all of the Thursday games. Getting rid of Bryant Gumble has made the games tolerable at least with Bob Papa in his place. Is Papa the lead? I'm enjoying Collinsworth's work, but I find Papa (or whomever the lead guy is) to be intolerably boring and bland. How rare/difficult to get is the NFL Network? TSN has shown both Thursday games so far in HD. Who's showing the early games on Turkey Day? Fox must have one, right?

No one answered why we no longer had the Gulag. I also take at least some credit for the Suburban Commando idea if it comes to fruition, though I bet it won't. Czech and the mods seem to want no association with this place as a wrestling board any longer, which, given the WWE folder, might have some merit to it.

TSN is reporting that because of the U.S. economy, the players' escrow will be taken away at the end of the year, and the cap will drop to $48mil, down from the current $56. Can someone explain that a little more? I assume the escrow is a kitty the players pay into, but to what end? How does it work? Is it possible we'll see teams having to restructure contracts that are already on the books to meet the cap?
