In hindsight, he was meant to be a transitional champ, though I didn't realise that as an eleven-year-old mark. On the other hand, he did have some good matches (specifically with the Bulldog at IYH). Furthermore, I think if anyone could go from a feud with Jean-Pierre Lafitte to WWF Champion in the span of 30 days and have it be believable while not hurting the title, it was Bret. Though I'm a huge mark for his '94 and '97 runs with the title, I don't think of this reign as any lesser; but maybe his one-day reign in early '97 is propping it up.

Washington at N.Y. Giants (3.5) - Giants win, but don't cover. (3.5) Detroit at Atlanta (1.5) Cincinnati at Baltimore (1.5) Seattle at Buffalo (3.5) N.Y. Jets at Miami Kansas City at New England (16.5) Tampa Bay at New Orleans (3.5) St. Louis at Philadelphia (7.5) - 7.5? That's too much. Houston at Pittsburgh (6.5) (3.5) Jacksonville at Tennessee (4.5) Dallas at Cleveland This'll be close. Dallas wins, still. Carolina at San Diego (9.5) (2.5) Arizona at San Francisco Chicago at Indianapolis (9.5) Minnesota at Green Bay (2.5) (3.5) Denver at Oakland Rams score 18. Good luck, all.

Welcome back. I was flirting with the idea of launching 20 Questions, but that wouldn't be right.

Why not? -
Sixty-freakin-three. He's officially got a stranglehold on the FedEx Cup. Thoughts on Faldo and Zinger's captain's picks?
-
I was thinking the same thing; I'd be interested in knowing how history looked at him basically falling into a no-hitter. I can't think of anything in sport that would have been in the same vein.

The Score HD now features stuff actually in HD!

And now former golfer "Terrible" Tommy Bolt. I'm picking no one but old golfers next year.
-
Whoever they were, they were right. Confirmed today, he's gone to Sunrise for Mike van Ryn and a pick.

Eddie Fucking Winslow. Does my vote count if I'm using a fake name? -
Just to be sure, is anyone or anything formally keeping track of a Santino/HTM comparison?

Mine are prescription. I wore them in the Casino on the weekend because I forgot my glasses in the car, and dark > squinting. This shouldn't solve your problem entirely, but you know. I was at my friend Andrea's on the weekend. She has a little rug under her coffee table. It wrinkles and bunches up in this one specific spot. I took a picture of it with my cell, and when she asked why, I explained this thread. Her boyfriend instantly got up, came back wearing socks and sandals (once cleverly dubbed by a third buddy "Soxiesandals"), and demanded I take a second picture of the wrinklerug and his footwear disgrace. -
1. What team will suffer a catastrophic injury in week one? San Diego. 2. How well will an injured Shawne Merriman perform against what's certainly going to be a stiff running attack from Carolina? We'll see. I still give the nod to San Diego for the week. 3. Will a Favre-free Green Bay continue last season's success against a highly-rated Minnesota team? The jury's obviously out on Aaron Rodgers, but I haven't written off Green Bay. I'm certainly not disputing how invaluble Favre was, but he wasn't the only reason for the Pack's success last season. Green Bay comes out ahead. 4. Will the Giants without Osi put enough pressure on Washington to hold court at home? In two games against the Giants last year, the Skins had 260 and 309 net yards, both below their season average. At home in week one, the Giants will do just fine. 5. Which team will make a statement in the NFC south? New Orleans or Tampa Bay? New Orleans. They finished 7-5 last year, rebounding after an 0-4 start. To me, that's a sign of growing pains, not a team on the decline. The Bucs won both games against NO last year, but I still think New Orleans has something to prove.

I suppose that the Raiders logo might skew it a bit, but if you, of all people, don't get it....... "Tweeter and the Monkey Man were hard up for cash. They stayed up all night, sellin' cocaine and hash." -
I used to deliver bread to them. I have not been back since. Not that I was that big a fan to begin with. Re: The Maple Leaf thing - that really involved Subway? Yikes. Monkey Man and I have a buddy who literally eats 6-10 meals a week at Subway. I'm so leery of all things Maple Leaf/Shopsy's/Schneider's now, even though I know many of their products are fine. That's out of character for me to fly off the handle in such a way, but, you know. Incidentally, as I've mentioned before, I can't eat a hotdog that's not a Juicy Jumbo or street meat - this could be the end of my hot dog career.

Encouraged by my Telus and Rogers reps nearly verbatim, this was my best upselling pitch when I sold phones. "I know, you just want it for emergency use, but eventually, people who call you will just say 'Well, why bother calling his house if he might not be there. He'll have his cell with him regardless of where he is, call that'" -

Celebrating it with a new handle, it's my four-year anniversary. -
I thought about this a lot at the bar tonight: Jason Smith will quarterback the Sens PP, but who will bail out Gerber? I'm still iffy on him. I like Auld, but would him breathing down my neck frighten me enough to steal the show, especially in a market like Ottawa? The Sens will be alot like Tampa. By that, I mean that I see a lot of similarity between the two with a stellar offence and so-so d and goaltending. I see both teams sneaking into the 7 or 8 spot come spring.

I'm surprised this didn't come up: The LPGA insists that all players who have cards at the beginning of the 09 season are to speak English. The buzz amongst the media seem to be: Good idea, poor execution. The press release included the word "Korean". I hate to be that guy, but there's a lot of ugly Americans chiming in on this issue. I'll further dig my hole by praising Mike Weir's opening 61 today, good for ten under. His eagle putt on, which skipped by, would have given him 60, and a tie with Mick for the best round ever on tour by a lefty. Vijay Singh is three back.

I'll be home around 8pm Pacific Matt. Let's get a game or two in....virtual tennis as well, perhaps? -
Dammit! I had planned all day to post that clip from Raw last year in which Maria tells Santino, in Philly, that Steve Austin is coming. Matt Stairs looks like Steve Austin. He also comes to the plate to his theme, presumably because he looks so much like him. Edit: 1:33 am? I had lollygagged a bit instead of posting, but damn!

He also became an assistant coach for the Stars. Buzz is that Montreal will retire St. Patrick's number in November. Habs reps "do not comment on matters of retired numbers."

Two questions I'm ashamed to ask. First, in my never-ending quest to get my mom and stepdad into HD, I've given them an HDMI cable. (Read: My mom and I bought a Jeopardy game the other day that required fucking around with their home theatre's DVD out. When we finished, we didn't bother unplugging the game, and thus, they couldn't watch anything, so I insisted on giving them my spare). My mom's on board, but is kind of shy about it. Conversely, my stepdad doesn't understand, so he doesn't care and I'm wrong. (see my previous posts). So I plugged in the HDMI and it sent the signal to 480p from 480i. Minor difference. I looked up the specs of the home theatre and it does upconvert to 1080i, but the tv info onscreen still says 480p. Shouldn't it upconvert automatically? If not, how do I achieve this? And, if they watch a 1.33 movie or, say TV show on box set, will the upconvert function put it in widescreen? If not, well, refer my stepdad's position again. Second, I'm also in the market for a home theatre. There's a cheapy from Wal*Mart, which is ideal for me: 50 bucks, 100 watts. (My soon-to-be living room is only about 12 x 12, so I don't care how loud it is. And if it breaks in six months, well, it's 50 bucks. I simply want the clarity of five different channels*. There's another reason it's ideal: It's a receiver with five speakers, not an HTIB. I plan on using my 360 and HD add-on. So, my question: The receiver features two RCA audio ins. If I run RCA audio from my TV's audio out to the receiver while playing my 360, will that be enough, or will I need that adapter that came with the 360 HDMI cable? * I'd always been kind of indifferent to sound, but my folks aforementioned new HTIB, at 1200 watts, was amazing. For a more practical example, the place I was staying in Calgary had a 150w package. It was plenty loud for our place, but moreso, I can't get over how much better hockey was with one channel for ice ambiance, one channel for the crowd, one channel for the announcer, etc.
