  1. Right now, since my 3-day non-stop work marathon is now over. Let's do the 12-6-2-1 roster. The same guy can't be drafted twice under player/coach rules, as mentioned. You can draft an ex-player as a coach (or vice-versa) to your liking. For example, if you'd rather have Guy Carbonneau beind your bench instead of a two-way centre, go right ahead. Snake-like order draft, which I just drew at random. 1) CanadianChris 2) EHME 3) CanadianGuitarist 4) Angle Is God 5) UndertakerHart 6) KingOfThe909 7) Gert 8) MFerExtreme 9) Niskie 10) Treble 11) Smartly 12) Baron 13) Goblin Clock will be 24 hours - starting at 1 am eastern on May 15. Feel free to speed things up and submit your pick if it's your turn. Anyone who misses two straight picks will be disqualified, and have their roster thrown back in the pool. CC, lead us off.
  2. Ditto. Ditto again.
  3. Whaaaaaa? Why am I just learning of this now?
  4. Sorry, guys. And I've got a soft spot for (Democrat) Paul Goydos.
  5. I titled it the "NHL Draft", but I've got no problem with pre-NHL'ers.
  6. Twenty men and coach = do it! Where's Nskie, Max, and Czech? I don't mind saying this would be lesser without the three of them.
  7. Though it was a bit frustrating, this didn't really anger me - it flabbergasted me, though: Went to the Blue Jays website to download Tom Cheek's call of Joe Carter's homerun off Mitch Williams in 1993. It's only available to US cell subscribers.
  8. Minesweeper always reminded me of that game on The Price is Right where you've gotta form the correct price of the car using a chain of numbers that you're standing around.
  9. Doesn't dumping a body seem kind of careless or half-assed?
  10. That seemed like a lot, but if there's only six or seven guys doing this, compared to the 16-or-so doing the NBA, 23 could be feasible.
  11. Late again, but, meh. May 8-11: The PLAYERS Championship, TPC at Sawgrass, Orlando. Phil Mickelson May 15-18: AT&T Classic, TPC at Sugarloaf, Atlanta. Zach Johnson May 22-25: Crown Plaza Invitational at Colonial, Colonial Country Club, Dallas. Rory Sabbatini May 29-June 1: the Memorial Tournament, Muirfield Village, Dublin, Ohio. KJ Choi Interesting leaderboard at the Stadium Course. Kenny Perry is at -6, in first alone. There was a period in 2003 where he looked he was going to be really, really big. Provided he doesn't win this week, he'll probably be best remembered for not hitting the range before the playoff he lost at the 96 PGA. Someday, he'll be an answer on a sports trivia show - he won the 2003 Colonial, when Annika teed it up. At -5 are Paul Goydos, Sergio Garcia, and Bernhard Langer. Last week's winner, Anthony Kim, could prove a lot of writers right if he wins - he's two back. If Garcia wins, can we call him the best without, even with Adam Scott's world ranking? (#3) Also, I really really wish the logo for the Memorial would be corrected, and 'the' would become capitalized.

Steve Duchesne, Stefan Persson Goalie: Dominik Hasek, Bernie Parent Coach: Jack Adams *Unlike Clarke, Suter, Roenick, and Samuelsson, I like Theo. His knee-sliding celebration after scoring in OT is one of my favourite hockey highlights ever. Fuckin' Theo Fleury is a longstanding inside joke - a buddy of mine wanted to take his then-girlfriend on a date, but had no money. He thought his 1990 Pro Set Theo Fleury card would pay for said date, if traded in at a card shop. It did not. This was Theo's fault. ** I like him. JJ does not.
  13. I have a new all-time favourite sig.
  14. Hey Baron, Jay's response wasn't bad. When I saw he responded under my name, I was sure he'd call me gay or something.
  15. Tortorella hasn't been fired yet? It'd be cool to see him in Ottawa. I'd give everything I own to be a fly on the wall during a Tortorella-Murray argument.
  16. Well your first problem is you aren't joining a guild. Guilds have players that will help each other out. Secondly, you need to be more diplomatic in the general chat or when chatting with players in the province you are leveling in. You should never be grinding for the first 30 levels of the game at least. Tons of quests to capitalize on. Perhaps move to another province. Just wait till lvl 40 when you get your first mount to ride.
  17. That's true, but the truth should not make it any less funny. The two Taker entrances, and Flair at the Citrus Bowl, are both fantastic.
  18. Five favourite heel characters: 1) Pro-Canadian Bret, 1997 2) Bratty lil brother Owen - any time from 93-97. 3) First-run ECW Raven, 94-97. 4) Team Canada's Lance Storm, 2000 5) Either member of Money Inc., at any point between 87-93. Honourable mention to Cyrus. Also, I've been meaning to get this thread started for months, but was never able to compile my list of the five best talkers.
  19. I like Staind, but that doesn't mean they don't suck. They're my early 2000's Hall & Oates.
  20. Attendance is down, but I don't think 'trouble' is all that fair. It was like when Tiger was allegdly slumping in 2003. Detroit's got a lot to cheer for right now in the Pistons and the Tigers - still, 18,000 a game is hardly trouble.
  21. I didn't mind him as a knock-off GM. I once described him as The Stuart Scott of the WWE. Square one, now.
  22. I'm kind of indifferent to this subject (speficially, an athlete I've never heard of, who presumably threw a dart at a map) - but Ortonsault: That's an oh snap reply! I mean shit, I had no idea what HIV stats were in the Phillipines, but if I were going to do HIV work in any way, I could name a dozen countries I'd likely go first. Check out my recent comment in CTDWAT here before replying (if there's an answer), but it's always been kind of rumoured that when a young Ben Hogan was carjacked, it was Byron Nelson who picked him up. Ben said in an interview that he didn't remember who it was. But there was always a kind of unspoken rivalry between him, Nelson, and Sam Snead (who were all born within six months of one another, all enjoyed golf success during the pre-PGA Tour days, shortly after WW2). Again, a reply to my CTDWAT post may supercede, but Ben Hogan, who you crappin'?
  23. Anyone ever read any books on, or see anything about, Ben Hogan? (And by anyone, I mean the four-ish people beside me here who follow golf.) My piece-readings of him have given me mixed opinions - either way, I've become very interested in his life. On the one hand, he was, by all accounts, a prick. On the other hand, the way he reacted during his '49 car crash should negate that. And even without looking at his personal character, there's plenty of interesting stories about him: his father's suicide when he was 11, the car-jacking in his 30's, a .1000 winning percentage at the Open, a sort-of rivalry with Snead and Nelson, reverence from nearly every great golfer and writer ever, and 'The Swing' secrets. I'm fascinated by all these details, but I still don't know how I feel about him altogether,
  24. My list when it was last posted, around a year ago: 1) Johnny Under - ClarkNova 2) Gimme Shelter - The Stones 3) Heaven is a Better Place - The Hip 4) No Excuses - Alice in Chains 5) Trampled Underfoot - Led Zeppelin 6) Stinkfist - Tool 7) Welcome to the Machine - Pink Floyd 8) Far Behind - Candlebox 9) Fine Again - Seether 10) Eulogy - Tool Now - I'd say: 10) Renegades of Funk - Rage 9) Fine Again - Seether 8) Welcome Burden - Disturbed 7) Welcome to the Machine - Pink Floyd 6) Grace, Too - The Hip 5) No Excuses - Alice in Chains 4) YYZ - Rush 3) Heaven is a Better Place - The Hip 2) Johnny Under - Clarknova 1) Gimme Shelter - The Stones Rotate in Trampled Underfoot still, along with When The Levee Breaks. Far Behind is definitely off the list. Authority Zero's Mexican Radio, Tool's Stinkfist, Eulogy, and The Pot (I know, Corey) could all make the Top Ten at any given point as well.
  25. On paper? Yes. In practise? Hell no. There was no reason for the Bruins to take it to 7, and they did. There was no reason for the Flyers to win this series, and they did. I think experience is the missing ingredient here. Then again, I said the same thing would prevent Washington from getting into the playoffs..... If Ryder had been dressed, it would have been a farewell skate, anyway. I can't find a picture of South Park's Mr. Slave, but: Jesus Christ!
