  1. I guess there's always the chance he'll get hit by an asteroid,
  2. That wasn't exactly the most well researched article I've ever read, but you expect that kind of thing from the Torch. But a lot of problems stem from a lack of understanding of their audience and how to market itself properly Has he even seen their audience or listened to them or heard their opinions? Given how rabidly pro-ROH their fans are, almost to a fault, I'd say they've marketed themselves to their audience just fine. At worst, if these problems continue, Ring of Honor will end to exist as a promotion. At best, they won’t gain any ground. Why should they want to gain ground? They're doing ok as they are now. They might not make much money, but they're surviving and continuing to survive at the level they are now, and they don't want to get bigger. Any wrestler who works his way through the Ring of Honor ranks, and has the kind of potential to put Ring of Honor on his back and carry them to new markets, bigger audiences, and higher revenue will be sought after by other promotions. With the kind of audience that ROH attracts, they're not going to stop watching the promotion because one wrestler leaves. Nobody stopped watching when Daniels or Styles weren't wrestling. I don't see anybody stopping watching now that Punk has finally gone. And the expansion question was already addressed. In particular, TNA and WWE have signed, and will continue to sign wrestlers who shine in ROH. That in itself is a reason wrestlers will continue to want to work for ROH. If a wrestler knows that ROH wrestlers sometimes get signed by WWE, and he wants to work for WWE, he'll come to ROH because he knows, or believes, it'll boost his chances of getting into WWE. Sure, it sucks for ROH to book a guy or build a guy up that might be taken by WWE, but there is no guarantee that the guy will impress WWE enough to be signed, but it still gives them a piece of talent to use to get over guys that have no aspirations of going to WWE. Moreover, they’ll make the appropriate investment to convince the wrestlers to make a permanent switch. It won’t be long before there are two buckets dipping into the ROH well. What’s worse, there’s nothing ROH can do about losing the talent they spend time and money establishing WWE don't go after certain types of wrestler, and they are generally the types of wrestler who ROH like to use. As for going to TNA, let's see how long they last on Spike now that Jeff got his vanity belt back and will be the centerpiece of the promotion. ROH caters to a niche of a niche market. The professional wrestling market is a niche. A small percentage of people in the United States watch, let alone spend money on wrestling. ... Ring of Honor caters to wrestling fans who would rather watch an exciting, athletic, well performed, and interestingly scripted match, than the spectacle of sports entertainment...While these fans are often rabid, and quick to support ROH financially, they are a very small market, and will continue to be small If ROH cater to niche of a niche market, why is he saying they need to expand, when they'd have to expand far and wide just to get in enough new fans to make it worthwhile? ROH are doing fine as they are now. Yes, they are small, but that's all they want to be, and need to be if they want to remain relatively stress free. But how can Ring of Honor cater to the sports entertainment fans, without alienating their fervent workrate junkies? They can't, and this guy is an idiot for suggesting it. It's the same mistake, of many, that Vince Russo made when running WCW into the ground. Let me bold these words so that nobody can miss them: NOBODY CAN DO SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT BETTER THAN WWE. If the Sports Entertainment fans want SE, they'll watch WWE, the big budget version, rather than the small time version. Sports Entertainment fans by their very nature want big and glitzy, which is exactly what ROH isn't, and can never be, don't ever want to be. ROH simply does not understand the power of the internet. Did this guy even bother with research? James Guttman already spoke in his audio update last week about the sub par commercial that Ring of Honor aired during Raw for tomorrow night’s Long Island show. The quality and content of the advertisement made them look third rate, according to JG. It’s a shame, because at that moment, ROH had the opportunity to wow every wrestling fan in the area with their amazing in-ring content Yeah, the low quality commercial wasn't the best thing to run, but let's be serious here; how many WWE fans watching WWE on free tv are going to pay to see a non-WWE product? ROH, by their very nature, are not going to be the kind of group that attracts the casual fan. ...and how they can expand their business. As long as ROH treats itself like a small time promotion, with small time aspirations, that’s exactly what they’ll remain Why should ROH expand? Why should they want to be anything other than a small-time promotion? ROH want to remain small. They don't make a whole lot of money; in fact they don't make much. But they make something. Why should they go through all the hassle and grief of trying to expand, when they are doing just fine, and are at the level they want to be at, right now? They’ll gain a larger portion of the wrestling market, and once they’ve got that, they’ll have the cash to start holding on to their star wrestlers. He already said ROH cater to niche fans of a niche market, so how large can that larger portion really be? They can't get in the SE fan, because SE fans want what ROH isn't. By the time ROH becomes anything close to a threat, Vince would come along and snuff it all out. ROH knows this. Anyone with a brain knows this. So they stay small, roll along making little money but being happy, and they put a product that can keep them at that level. They're happy as they are.
  3. Not after being squashed in his first two matches.
  4. And that makes them bad workers? Not cutting it in WWE isn't exactly a sign that someone is useless.
  5. It's Planet Jarrett Syndrome. We're in denial, the next step is anger, then a feeling of worthlessness and then finally acceptance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The final step is turning off TNA.
  6. That cockiness is awfully similar to Eric Bischoff... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> and I feel it is fully warranted, TNA is not WCW, TNA isn't even ECW, TNA is a glorified indy promotion with guys who couldn't cut it in WWE working the main events. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Given how Eric Bischoff's cockiness blew up in his face, would you say his was warranted too? I'm sure it seemed like it was at the time, but look how things turned out. And which TNA wrestlers were in WWE main events?
  7. I don't see how anyone can realistically expect Jarrett to drop the belt back to Raven at BFG, or to anyone, at any point in the near future.
  8. Punk isn't sloppy, though.
  9. That cockiness is awfully similar to Eric Bischoff... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Say, whatever happened to that guy...?
  10. I would have Jarrett defending against Jeff Hardy at BFG, with AMW interfering to help Jarrett win. Beneath that, I would have a mini-tournament with Monty Brown taking on Raven and Abyss in a three-way at BFG, with the rules that whoever loses the fall is eliminated from the tournament, and the other two meet at the November PPV to decide who gets the NWA title shot at the December PPV, but with the added stipulation that the guy who got the pin in the BFG three-way gets to choose the rules of the match. Brown can Pounce and pin Abyss to win the BFG three-way, face Raven in a Serengeti Streetfight at the November PPV by putting him through a table with a Pounce, and he can then go on to beat Jarrett for the NWA title to end the year, and TNA can go into 2006 with a rebuilt Monty Brown on top, who will be fresh in the eyes of the new fans, and they can build to a possible Brown v Samoa Joe match somewhere down the line for Joe to get the belt. As for who Jarrett faces at the November PPV, I say stick him in the semi-main event against Kevin Nash or some other such ‘star’, and let the X-Division guys still the show on top.
  11. I will be shocked if JJ drops the belt before the end of the year. TNA is officially back to being the Jeff Jarrett Show, and anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.
  12. He's been tied to the anchor that is Kip James for a long time. He needs a couple of major and decisive wins to be established once again as a monster that people can believe in. We know he's a monster, but the fans, what there of them, that Spike will attract don't know he's a monster.
  13. I think he does, and I know that's the line Jeff will use to put off dropping the title to him.
  14. I said he would, and I was right. He did it when TNA got on FSN, and he did it again here.
  15. Well Monty did throw the challenge out for BFG on the Unbreakable pre-show. But Jarrett seems to be feuding with Hardy. Maybe we'll get a deadly draw with JJ, Monty, Hardy and Raven. That's pretty much TNA's star power...unless they toss Nash in there and if they decide to put Monty over, he can get the rub for new fans of going over all the names at once. It'll be interesting to see where they go from here though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm all for Monty knocking JJ into the stratosphere with a Pounce to win the NWA title, but he really does need to be built back up after being anchored down by Kip James for so long. I think we'll see a title change put off and put off and put off, until Jerry and Jeff can get control back from Panda, and then all talk of a title change will vanish.
  16. He was only around for a few weeks, if that . You wouldn't have noticed him if you weren't really looking out for him. Misawa was in the NWA for the 1986 Crockett Cup, as Giant Baba's tag team partner. Thesz worked one house show for the WWF in 1987, winning a Legends battle royal. He also refereed at least one Roddy Piper vs. Jimmy Snuka match.
  17. They think he's the biggest star they have. He'll be too busy jizzing himself to post anything.
  18. RVD kissed the feet of the Million Dollar Man back in 1987, and DiBiase also made Linda McMahon bark like a dog.
  19. JJ wanted his belt buckle back, and he got it. And people thought JJ didn't have stroke anymore.
  20. Someone please explain this. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They meant to say it was the first NWA title match in Windsor for 47 years.
  21. Only problem is that is going require them to spend time rebuilding Monty. Sad to say that it looks like we're in for another long JJ Reign Of Doom.
  22. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
  23. I have no doubt JR is a nice guy when compared to Vince and company, but that doesn't stop him saying stuff that is strange at best and completely nonsensical at worst.
  24. I think it climaxes with JR wearing his pants around his ankles and his dick in his hand as he watches the replay. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, you're talking about Lawler there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How can he be talking about Lawler? Trish is too old.
  25. Actually, the director should get the blame, because he is the ony who calls for the shots. You'd think the director would know enough by know to go wide when a guy is likely to blade. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> True I should have mentioned the director as well. perhaps someone needs to tell the director when someone is going to blade (maybe the ref can relay the news?) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out when a wrestler is likely to blade, and go to a wide shot.
