  1. I think there were plans for the Se7en gimmick at first, but the superbooker Vince Russo decided to turn it into a worked shoot. Nothing became of it. Daniels was meant to wind up being the guy who turned Vampiro on Sting, but that got dropped. Why did Steiner run in and destroy them? Because WCW had an inability to let talented people get over without doing something to fuck it up. Martel was injured at some point after the Booker T match, and when he came back in July he wrestled Stevie Ray, who promptly fucked up a Slapjack, and injured Martel's neck. Martel then decided to call it a day and he retired.
  2. I highly doubt that the small percentage of internet fans could spread the word to enough of the casual fans that it would ruin the surprise. It'd be like someone peeing in the Pacific Ocean, and worrying it would cause an environmental disaster.
  3. The people who visit WWE.com already know Brock's coming back. The casual fans don't have a clue, so it'll be a surprise for them.
  4. Jimmy Shoulders, who was a friend of Candido from the Indy scene.
  5. bob is a quality poster in the wrestling forum. I don't always agree with his line of thinking, but he has the smarts to back up pretty much any opinion he gives, so that's a good thing. He appears to have become a little more ornery lately, possibly in relation to RRR. (I've seen a few people start to take more frequent shots at RRR over his attitude, and I think you're one of them). TSM could do with more posters like bob.
  6. The house always wins. You seem to be a half-decent poster. I don't think you've posted anything that stands out either negatively or positively, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think you could turn out to be a pretty good poster over time.
  7. I've seen both of you post, but I've never paid either of you enough attention to form any substantial opinion on either of you. Though, if pressed, I'd put Kingofthe909 ahead of Spiff.
  8. You bring a decent level of content to the wrestling folders. I've found a few of your posts in the past to be a little substandard, but nothing of mindblowingly bad proportions. I know some people think you're a PBP, so you've obviously caught the attention of others, which can be good or bad on here. I've nothing against you that I know of, so keep up the good work. Another of the next generation in quality wrestling forum posters. Unless, that is, you posted a lot before I arrived, in which case you are of the old guard. I don't think I've read anything you did for the main site, so you must have been around before I joined, but I'm assuming it was good stuff if your current posts are anything to go by. Update the blog a little more often.
  9. Loss: The Next Generation. You make consistently good posts in the wrestling forums, and raise the quality a great deal. You seem like an intelligent person, so I'm guessing any posts you make in other forums are just as good.
  10. I don't remember which network it was, but apparently the guy had been mugged the week before, and he thought the cops running after him were the same people who had mugged him, which is why he ran.
  11. Ok, if you make it that easy, it's not fun for anyone. You bring the quality content to the wrestling folders, and while it would be nice to have you posting in the forums again, I can understand why you don't. You know what you're talking about, and can back your line of thinking up with well reasoned points, which makes you one of the better posters here. I don't think you've ever posted anything stupid, at least not since I've been here, so that's a plus.
  12. I couldn't pick you out of a line-up.
  13. As you admittedly don't post often, there isn't much I can say. I don't think you've posted anything of real stupidity, though if you have, it's not been anything memorable. You started a couple of "Which of these title belts do you like the most?" threads, which sparked a decent debate over whether the Big Gold Belt or the WWF Winged Belt looked the most prestigious. I'd give you a C+.
  14. Most Hated Heel: The Original Sheik, Johnny Valentine, Rick Rude Most Loved Face: Ricky Morton, Ricky Steamboat, The Rock
  15. I could well be working myself, please let that be the case. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is.
  16. The negative press isn't a work. The statement from UPN banning Hassan from Smackdown isn't a work. Call it a hunch, but I'm guessing this situation isn't a work. But I guess the media coming down on WWE and UPN could be going along with Vince for one big mega work. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Even if UPN's declared position is real, Hassan could survive as a PPV/internet-only character for two plus months or so until Raw gets moved to USA. There used to be a time in the pre-Raw days when a World champion would rarely appear at the television tapings anyway. Besides, WWE gets paid a flat fee nowadays for the Smackdown rights, UPN has to sell Smackdown ads based on the ratings. If the ratings go down because a title feud gets pulled off weekly television, UPN would take the short-term hit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> UPN are not working you. You might be working yourself, but that's another matter. Hassan could survive as a PPV/internet only character, but they actually want him to draw, which rules that out. Once again, with all the negative press that UPN got, I don't see Spike or USA wanting any part of the mess. What part of that is so hard for you to grasp? Yes, there used to be a time when the World Champion would rarely appear, but guess what? It isn't that time anymore.
  17. The negative press isn't a work. The statement from UPN banning Hassan from Smackdown isn't a work. Call it a hunch, but I'm guessing this situation isn't a work. But I guess the media coming down on WWE and UPN could be going along with Vince for one big mega work.
  18. The network carrying one of Vince's own shows has flat out told Vince that Hassan is never to appear on Smackdown again. It's either scrap the character completely, keep him on UPN, or move him to Raw. Given that Spike are not going to want the negative press that UPN got, and that keeping him on Smackdown would give UPN grounds to simply pull the plug on the show, which do you think is most likely to happen?
  19. Brakus disappeared because he was beyond terrible. Tiger Ali Singh was injured on a tour of Puerto Rico that the WWF sent him on, wound up getting released because of the injury, and filed a lawsuit against the WWF over both getting released and racial discrimination. Man Mountain Rock flopped largely due to the terrible gimmick that he was given. MMR's strength was in the Max Payne persona, but thanks to the WWF's position that no gimmick that they didn't create can be any good, they gave him the stupid MMR deal that didn't allow Max to do what he could do best. Public Enemy didn't last long because they were terrible. They weren't that good to begin with, but they were seen as being more talented than they were thanks to Paul Heyman. The storyline was a worked shoot, because most of the locker room really didn't want them around due to how bad they were, so they played off of that. Thrash of The Headbangers wound up retiring after the team broke up, and at one point he was a nutritionist of some kind that advised a lot of the wrestlers when it came to getting in shape. As for Hogan v Doink headlining WM IX; only in La La Land.
  20. Yes. I remember reading that, too. There was also a fallout in 2003 between Hogan and Vince due to Hogan bitching about not getting more ring time in a 6-man tag team match that involved Lesnar and Angle as his partners in the match. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The first falling out was indeed over Hogan wanting to beat Lesnar in their Survivor Seriers rematch, with Vince wanting Lesnar to win again. The six-man problem wasn't so much that Hogan wanted more ring time, but that with the reaction Hogan was getting, he wanted Angle and Lesnar to go with it and make the hot tag to him, and that wasn't how the match was laid out. Not only that, but Hogan wasn't happy with doing the job to Big Show and being, in his mind, reduced to background material to the Lesnar-Angle-Show issue that was being pushed at the time.
  21. If Juvi was using the signature move of a top guy like Randy Orton or Batista, then I could see why he should be warned. But it's Paul London here, and, as much as I like London, he's a virtual jobber, so it shouldn't matter if Juvi does the 450 splash. Same with Job Holly.
  22. So, WWE has been forced to scrap a character that, not only was getting a serious push, but was a major part of their summer angles to be in one of the main events for their second or third biggest PPV of the year. Yeah, that angle might have been a mistake(!).
  23. Re: Bret v DBS at Summerslam. Bret, in numerous interviews before and after DSB died, as stated that Davey froze in the first minute of the match and forgot everything they'd set up, resulting in Bret having to call the whole match in the ring. DBS never once refuted those claims, and neither has anyone else. Bret has also pointed out how you can see him calling the match at various points, which he wasn't happy about, as he considered it being unprofessional if you could be seen or heard calling the matches. For me, Davey Boy was a solid enough worker, but he needed someone else to be the glue to hold together a match that could be great.
  24. --Raw on Monday night did a 3.8 rating, which has to be disappointing given the plugs for the show on VH-1 and the hype of Hogan being there as well as the idea that the Matt Hardy return and Diva Search should mean something in the ratings. From Meltzer
  25. Hunter pulled himself from tv because he didn't want to play second fiddle to Hogan, and because he wouldn't have a program that wouldn't be comparable to the Hogan v Shawn deal. While it is good that Hunter is off tv, it wasn't done for unselfish reasons.
