--This is the current One Night Stand line-up:

It's a Simpsons reference. Boo-urns

This match has officially been added, and is a Tables match.

Why don't they pop for it though? Listen to Jim Cornette and he'll tell you that you can condition the crowd to pop for any move, if it's done right. Top rope maneuvers became overdone when Nitro was stocked with cruiserweights. As the moves become less common, fans will pop for them again. They don't pop for it because they've seen it all and it's no longer special because something crazier as come along to take its place, which in turn has been done to death and also means very little. Some guys do need moves like that to get over, but it doesn't automatically mean they're of little value otherwise. They need the moves to get over because people aren't given any reason to care about them, and they need the big moves to stand out. Instead of banning all the big moves off the top, just restrict them to one per wrestler. That way, they become less common, and so people will start to pop for them again, but they can still be used when needed.

The smaller guys need the move because the people don't pop for the moonsault anymore and the splash off the top doesn't look flashy enough. They don't need to ban the SSP or the 450 splash entirely. They just need to restrict the moves to one person who can have it as their finisher. That way, it's special because only one person does, it and because it's not overdone, others can maybe get a chance into getting the people to start popping for the moonsault again.

That was indeed the sign of the night. All year, even.

So, you're the guy. I care not for this show. It might wind up being pretty good, and likely will, but going into it? Pass. 175,000.

I think that was one of Jim Herd's ideas. Twice that I can remember.

The main problem with the Abyss deal is twofold. One, it followed the usual TNA pattern of giving away for free something that could have been built to and made to mean so much more. Two, the broken glass. It's so stupid and reckless, even for TNA. They could have stayed with the thumbtacks if they hadn't have done such a great job of turning them from something exciting to just another cartoon prop that nobody takes seriously and means nothing. Where do TNA go from the broken glass once they've made that mean nothing? Razor wire?

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to dubq's topic in TNA Wrestling
As far as I know, it's meant to be Ricky Banderas for some reason, though that might be a swerve if only because he doesn't fit the physical bill as far as being a monster goes. And PWI says Christian has signed a new deal with TNA for 2 or 3 years. -
It airs this Saturday. And yes, Raw goes live after SNME is taped.

It doesn't take Lanny Poffo to work out how WWE view women and how they expect them to act.

The Observer doesn't actually specify what was said between Ariel and Batista. It just refers to Batista as being like the starting quarterback on the football team and that WWE is basically high school. It says he's very outspoken, including about the women. "Most of the women don't say anything about it and sometimes it doesn't matter when there is a conflict, it doesn't matter who is right and who started it, but who is higher on the totem poll." It says Ariel didn't take it and fired right back, which didn't help her cause for staying around.

LA Times.com Liddell got $500,000 while Jackson got $450,000, which includes a $225,000 winners bonus. As for the PPV itself, it was great stuff. What more can you say about the main event? It might not have delivered from a quality standpoint, but it was still very exciting. Jackson just knocked Liddell silly and Liddell's expression was indeed priceless. Jardine getting destroyed was awesome. An all-round great event and any first time viewers who bought this PPV were surely made fans for a life, or at least the next few PPV's, after this one.

Did Meltzer attribute the RVD rumor, which was going around, as starting with the Torch? Speaking of RVD talk, from the Observer: The original plan was RVD vs. Orton at ONS with Orton 'killing a legend with RVD'. It was going to be Van Dam's last show, but that might have been changed after Vince threw a fit over believing the plan had become too well known. Van Dam may finish up before ONS, but there has also been talk of "surprising the smart fans" by having Van Dam stay on an extra week or two and winning at ONS where people would expect him to lose and he'd wind up doing his final job shortly after instead.

He's confirmed he's retired as a full-time performer, but he's open to coming back for a big match from time to time.

As long as Cena and Edge avoid getting hurt, they won't be too badly damaged. Now, if Cena goes down, then I'm seeing Khali get the WWE belt until Hunter can return and get it back. If Edge goes down, it'll either be Kennedy or Batista getting the World belt.
