  1. The Stretcher match is opening the PPV up.
  2. RVD/Balls would have been better had it gone 12-15 instead of almost 20. Paul had a major problem when it came to having matches go almost twenty minutes when fourteen minutes would have been better. RVD/Balls is one example. RVD and Sabu/Hayabusa and Jinsei Shinzaki is another.
  3. Memo to TNA: piping in fake crowd noise just makes your product look more minor league than it already is. On TV, it's impossible to get a proper reading on the crowd reactions because off all the piped in noise drowning out whatever legitimate reaction there is.
  4. That's the beauty of the WWE business model. The quality of the product has very little effect on the bottom line. As long as Stephanie does nothing that is off-the-charts stupid, marketing and promotion will ensure a healthy bottom line year after year, and Stephanie's position is safe, even if the product itself is terrible.
  5. Koloff had two things going for him in the NWA; a consistent push thanks to Dusty, and decent money for a travel schedule that, while hard going, was nothing like the nightmarish one WWF guys had. If Koloff had gone to the WWF and feuded with Hogan, he'd have slid down the cards once the feud was done, with his pay sliding down accordingly. On a short term basis, a feud with Hogan would have made him more money than he was getting in the NWA, but in the long term, he had the better monetary prospects, and a far lighter travel schedule, in the NWA. Regarding the travel schedule, would his wife's illness have something to do with that consideration or did that come later? Koloff left the NWA to care for his wife in the second half of 1988, after the Hogan vs. Foreign Heel phase. In Koloff's position, I'd have stayed in the NWA as well. Jim Cornette and The Midnight Express had the chance to leave and stayed for the reasons of decent to good money for a less hectic travel schedule.
  6. Yeah, because having him win matches and do some cool signature spots would never work.
  7. Why...? Because it's "funny" and involves "character development". Or because TNA have yet to figure out that it's 2007. Take your pick.
  8. They were fired for mainly having a hugely inflated opinion of their value and expressing that opinion.
  9. I haven't read it myself to confirm, but apparently the latest Observer says that Sonjay Dutt will soon be doing a Ghandi gimmick. He'll dress up like Ghandi, and preach non-violence. He was going to wear a turban complete with jewel in the middle, but he nixed that part.

  11. To start things anew in regard to discussion of minor news items and the like, we're going to be starting a monthly General Discussion thread in the forum. The idea is in the same vein as the CTDWAT thread, in that the minor and mundane news items of the month, as well as random musings of an equally minor nature, can be kept to one thread, and also that the monthly nature of this threads should hopefully stop things from getting so clogged up. The General Discussion threads will be pinned for the month they cover before being replaced by the new thread. Hopefully, this will keep the minor discussion going without things getting bogged down, and maybe even spawn some decent discussion. The current CTDWAT thread will be unpinned but, for now, will be kept around so people have a frame of reference. To get things going, I'll repost the news item concerning Dwayne Johnson getting divorced. You're encouraged to bring over the minor news discussion of the past day or so into this thread so as to get the ball rolling here. As it pertains to questioning whether a certain news item warrants a thread, don't make a show if it. Bring it to our attention by way if a PM, and we'll check it out. If it doesn't deserve a thread of its own, it'll closed or merged with this one.
  12. Jacobs/Whitmer cage match The first part, with a link to the second part also there. The Jacobs promo might be linked as well.
  13. 3.2/3, which being attributed to the holiday.
  14. Killings commented on his MySpace about the 'confrontation':
  15. This is the infamous spot where she broke her neck but continued to wrestle the match.
  16. As long is they avoid the obvious twists of Lacey teasing falling for Jimmy only to turn him down yet again or Jimmy suddenly deciding he doesn't want Lacey after all, I'll be happy.
  17. I'm this close to no longer posting here because of shitheads like you. Go to hell and fuck yourself. Let's hope you calm down on your return. This thread can be closed and the story talked about in the Comments...thread, because it's a complete non-story.
  18. The shambles continues. At this rate, the only intriguing fight of the night, Sakuraba/Gracie, might not even happen.
