  1. Wasn't Savage's face turn driven more by the fact that he finally started standing up for Elizabeth against the Honky Tonk Man, and Hogan giving his seal of approval simly sealed the deal? Not really, the entire face turn was one match on SNME. Honky Tonk Man was fighting Savage heel vs heel, and HTM got DQ'd or something. Anywyas, the end result was the Hart Foundation coming out and beating up Savage and holding him so HTM could bash him with the guitar. Liz interjected in front of Savage, so HTM shoved her aside. This prompted Hogan to make the save, and Savage was a face after that.
  2. Savage turning face in 1987 simply on the basis of being associated with Hulk Hogan Mickey James turning Face in 2006 for really no explainable reason at all
  3. Hogan vs Sting Starrcade 1997, Hogan is on offense for 3/4ths of the match, drops the leg on Sting, and pins him clean. I know the finish was totally fucked up, but irregardless that entire debacle was a farce.

  5. I have USA and CW in HD through Comcast, but not Sci-Fi. I'm not expecting too much from WWE in HD, there's some things you just don't wanna see in Hi Def.

  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3iG_QdNtDc...feature=related I really dig these Old School PPV Pre-Shows, this guy has quite a few of them
  8. Disco was never a main eventer to be sure, but he was a well established mid-card act throughout most of WCW's peak in popularity, he wasn't huge, but he was just a guy who was consistently around. My point anyways is that he and Sting are pretty much the only 2 established names in this country I can think of from the mid-90's on never to work for Vince McMahon. I guess you can throw Alex Wright and New Jack on that last as well, but they at least wanted to bring in New Jack for the first ECW PPV, and Alex Wright probably would have gotten a shot if he hadn't moved back to Europe.
  9. Disco is just bitter because he's pretty much the only big name of the last 15 years or so not named Sting to never get any kind of run in WWE, nor even be offered the opportunity and turn it down. I always found Disco to be entertaining, and would have like to see him get a brief comedy run in WWE, he wasn't a terrible worker, and it was a funny gimmick. The story I always remmeber hearing was that he was originally going to sign in 1997 and be brought in as Honky Tonk Man's protege, but decided in the end to resign with WCW, and ended up on Vinces shit list forever as a result.

  13. Who portrayed DDP's run in buddy Max Muscle? I don't recall ever having seen him anywhere prior to his very brief run in WCW, and never saw him anywhere afterward. Anyone have a clue?
  14. So RAW tonight was a pretty good show live. I've been to plenty of shows over the years, and I much prefer an emphasis on wrestling, as I've been to RAW and Smackdown tapings that are 90% storyline and promo bullshit and almost zero wrestling and they're not pretty. Let me actually preface this with a brief rant on how much I hate the fucking Indian Casino. I've been to Vegas, and I've been to Atlantic City, and I can honestly say that you have a much better chance of winning the jackpot at either one of those places then you do of even breaking even at Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun. Since they have no real competition in the area, they jack the odds way down so it's almost impossible to win. The slots don't pay out shit, and minimum for Blackjack is 25 dollars, but don't even waste your time since it's an eight deck shoe, you don't stand a chance. These crooked Indians can bite me, I'll take the casinos in Atlantic City any day, even if the place has turned into a slum. The show itself was announced as a sell out, but there was some small pockets of empty seats that I saw. They did go out of their way to sell every seat possible however, and I even saw people sitting in some horrible obstructed view seats behind the tron. The dark match was Atlas DeBone defeating Nick Nemeth. Neither guy was particularly impressive, just a lot of basic rest holds for the most part. Nemeth completely changed his look form his Spirit Squad days. Heat was your usual Jobber crap. Duggan and Crazy went to a dusty finish against 2 jobbers for some reason. DH Smith pinned a jobber, and Santito defeated Kendrick. RAW itself was good, Murdoch and Haas made for an odd pairing, but it was a good match. What was with Haas and the Lucha mask? The womens segment was just a complete waste of time, as was Jericho being hung by JBL. The Main event however was a great match, that spot off the top of the cage was sick. After the show I waited around for a bit in the Casino Hotel to see if anyone happened to wander out. I got my ticket stub signed by Jim Ross who ended up being mobbed. I shook hands with Todd Grisham and told him he does good work on 24/7, and I also shook hands with Rajin Singh, and asked him to write some better storylines. He kind of gave me a dirty look for that one. I assume most of the workers know better by now then to stay at the Casino Hotel as it's really pricey, and they know that it's just a swarm of marks for a couple hours after the show. Overall though it was a lot of fun, so here's hoping the Rumble is just as good.
  15. I've had a lot of great house show experiences as well. At a show in Hartford in June 06, the first night DX reunited, Triple H came through the crowd after the match right in front of my friend and I and I got to shake his hand which was pretty cool. Another show we were at at Mohegan Sun in September 06 we had sets front row by the ramp, and we got th meet with Jimmy Yang, and Bobby Lashley grabbed me by my collar because I was wearing a Finlay shirt. Good times. Anywho, I have tickets for RAW monday, as well as Royal Rumble in 3 weeks, so here's hoping they're both good shows.
  16. Now that it's too late for new entries as well, in hindsight after I poster my picks, it occurred to be that Charles Manson as a Best Bet would have been a great choice. Wasn't he supposedly on his death bed with some sort of kidney disease?
  17. I picked the set up through the Target sale, and finally finished watching it last night. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot, but it definitely feels like it's being written by Vince Russo at some points, characters seem to go face and heel arbitrarily seemingly every episode. I also found the story a bit hard to follow at times, since there's just too many things happening at once, and it gets even more confusing when all the different stories interconnect with one another. I shouldn't have to stop and search Wikipedia to be reminded of all the different plot points throughout the story. Overall though, I was impressed, any word on when the second season will come out?
  18. It all depends on whether or not the DVD defames the person involved. If the DVD is overtly negative, but WWE can back up everything they said with solid proof, then there's no problem, but if they're just flat out lying, or running the guy down for no other useful purpose than to rake him through the coals, then they could potentially be sued to character defamation and / or slander. In the face of The Warrior, both he and WWE had a legally binding agreement that neither would make negative comments about the other in and public forum, and WWE breached their part of the agreement.
  19. Yeah, I'm gonna be there too. I settled for the 90 dollar seats which hopefully shouldn't be too bad. Getting into the city is gonna be a pain though, guess I'll have to pick up that Metro North train.
  20. People always seem to like to make reference to my Al Sharpton-esque rant I made a few years ago, but I still feel I made a lot of good point, even if I was a little off the mark with a few things, and a bit misguided about some others.

  22. I'll just paste mine from the previous thread, plus one more that I'll add Triple H will injure himself again, this time for good, and will be forced into retirement John Cena will come back, half the size he was prior to his injury, but will be more popular then ever, and will win the belt from Triple H and go on to hold it for the rest of the year Bobby Lashley will return, also half the size he was prior, and will get a huge push as the biggest heel on Smackdown Under pressure for steroid use WWE will stop pushing obvious juicers like Batista and Snitsky, while guys like Finlay, Rey Mysterio, The Hardys, MVP, and Carlito will all get significant pushes in the main event. Carlito will finally get a serious heel push, and will main event against Cena and / or Triple H Umaga will get released and / or repackaged with a returning Rosey Khali will finally vanish for good after jobbing to Jeff Hardy CM Punk will continue to flounder and will never reach his full potential before getting his release before the end of the year WWE will see many new faces as undercard talent begin to make a mass exodus from TNA. At least 50% of the ECW roster will be comprised of former TNA wrestlers by July. We will finally see WWE bring in Macho Man for an appearence or storyline Ken Kennedy will continue to be lackluster, but will get a long run with the Intercontinental Title. Jericho's big return will fizzle out, he'll get lost in the mid-card shuffle after Wrestlemania, but back a resurgence over the summer after he turns heel. Wrestlers whose stock will rise in 2008: Jeff Hardy, MVP, Carlito, Santino Marella Wrestlers whose stock will drop in 2008: Batista, CM Punk, Ken Kennedy, Edge
  23. Punk has mediocre matches against mediocre opponents on a mediocre show that no one watches. WWE didn't strike while the iron was hot with him, and now it's too late. He may have been king of the Indy's, but Big Daddy V swallowed his heat in the black hole that is his stomach. He needs to get off ECW, immediately, if he wants any hope for success. Mysterio will get a push because he sells merchandise, and he's going to be a focal part for WWE's expansion into Latin America. Jeff Hardy will be touted as an Eddy Gurrero-esque success story. A guy who successfully battled his demons, and made it to the top.
  24. Here's a good one, what predictions do people have for 2008? Triple H will injure himself again, this time for good, and will be forced into retirement John Cena will come back, half the size he was prior to his injury, but will be more popular then ever, and will win the belt from Triple H and go on to hold it for the rest of the year Bobby Lashley will return, also half the size he was prior, and will get a huge push as the biggest heel on Smackdown Under pressure for steroid use WWE will stop pushing obvious juicers like Batista and Snitsky, while guys like Finlay, Rey Mysterio, The Hardys, MVP, and Carlito will all get significant pushes in the main event. 25. Wrestler of the year: As far past his prime as he may be, Shawn Michaels consistantly delivers Worst wrestler of the year: Big Daddy V Most Improved Wrestler: Batista Most Underachieving Wrestler CM Punk. Sure he's the champion of the brand no one watches, but his matches have been consistently disappointing all year long. Best Tag Team: N/A There hasn't been enough tag team wrestling that mattered this year for me to really choose any one team over any other Worst Tag Team: N/A Best Heel: Randy Orton Best Face: John Cena Best Diva: Don't care Worst Diva: Don't care Match of the Year: Cena vs Michaels at Wrestlemania Worst Match of the Year: Kane vs Khali on Smackdown back in April Quote of the Year: None stick out in my mind Best Comeback: Triple H Mark out moment of the year: The Battle Royal at the RAW 15th anniversary Funniest moment of the year: The McMahon segment at the beginning of that same RAW Best brand: RAW is the only one I watch on a regular basis so it wins by default Worst brand: ECW Best PPV: No Mercy Worst PPV: One Night Stand Best Feud: Cena vs Orton Worst Feud: Kane vs Khali Worst Moment of the Year: Benoit offing his entire family and then himself Santino is fantastic on the stick, but his in ring work has a long way to go. Elijah Burke has been around for a while, didn't he start out last year with Sylvester Terkay?
