Reader's Least Favorite Wrestler 1-HHH 2-Kevin Nash 3-A-Train 4-Kane 5-Hulk Hogan,Undertaker (tie) 7-Nathan Jones 8-Test,Shane McMahon (tie) 10-Bradshaw Most Overrated 1-HHH 3-Big Show 4-Undertaker 5-Kevin Nash 6- A-Train 7-Shane McMahon 8-Nathan Jones 9-Bill Goldberg 10-Kane ... are they able to, like, but aside their likes and dislikes and try to vote objectively??? Cause this just seems like "I don't like them, they're getting pushed, they're overrated". Meanwhile, Angle/Lesnar gets picked as feud of the year dispite being horrible - which is overrated here? -
411: Meltzer confirms Benoit/Raw rumor

I had a dream last night that had Benoit coming out and opening RAW and basically cutting a heel promo on HHH. -
I thought Cena's selling was good except for when he did the FU - which pretty much well destroyed anything he was building up in the match. Also, his post match over-acting was annoying.

So you're going to Titan Towers too??! I'm just mad at the dumbass voters voting dumbassedly. If it appears like I'm being hostile towards you, I'm not. You're just the messenger. I appreciate what you're doing and was pleased to see the list posted - but god damn that's some poor choices. -

You assume right. I meant voters - who, by extention, are subscribers - who buy some of the stuff Dave feeds them. Just listening to WOL you never hear Dave badmouth JR, for example. JR clearly is a piss poor announcer, yet he still gets voted as #3 best. Angle/Lesnar was a god awful feud but Dave sang it's praises on WOL. -

Cena's FU is horrible. The most hated list looks a lot like the most overrated list. Hell, I don't subscribe to the WO, but I'm still ashmed to indirectly being tied with it (website, WOL, reading this abomination). BTW, thanks for posting - kudos -

Feud of the Year 1-Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle AAARGH!!!!!??! How could any one justify this as being the feud of the year? Best on Interviews 2-John Cena What interviews? Best Weekly Television Show 1-Pro Wrestling NOAH 2-OVW 3-Smackdown 5-Raw 8-Velocity 9-Confidential Ok, so lemme get this straight - OVW is a worse promotion than the WWE, yet produces better television?? Zah? Match of the Year (worked) 1-Mitsuharu Misawa vs Kenta Kobashi 3/1/03 2-Chris Benoit vs Kurt Angle 1/19 4-Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels 3/30 7-Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar 3/30 10-Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar 9/16 Yeah, I think this says it all Best Television show Announcer 1-Mike Tenay 2-Tazz 3-Jim Ross 5-Jim Cornette 8-Michael Cole Jim Ross? JIM FUCKING ROSS??? How many angles was he a part of in 03? How many HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE angles that effected his commentary ("I'm not a wrestler king, whuddillidooo???"). Hell, I can't think of a single good commentary job I've heard from fat ass this year - meanwhile, Stephen Quadros blew me away at Pride 25 but he's somehow not better than JR? Fuck, WO subscribers are fucking idiots. Worst Televesion announcer 1-Jonathan Coachman 2-Ernest Miller 3-Jerry Lawler 4-Michael Cole 6-Josh Matthews 8-Al Snow 9-Bill DeMott JR is just as bad as Lawler, yet isn't on this list... I must be missing something that's in these newsletters which makes JR the 3rd best announcer in the world. Best Major Wrestling Show 1-Pride Final Elimination 11/9 2-WWE Wrestlemania XIX 3/30 9-WWE Royal Rumble 1/19 10 WWE Vengeance 7/27 Pride 25 and Total Elimination were much better than WM 19. -

That's a gimmie, though. Besides, we really lay into Vince when he headlines a PPV and it bombs -

I was thinking about putting Shane in there too, but I wouldn't say 75% is his fault... maybe 25% Shane, 25% Taker, 25% HHH, 25% Stupid Writers. -

Plus they didn't really have a storyline for the 3. I mean really, did they? I can't recall one. Goldberg vs. Kane was so easy to book. Kane is a monster. No one can stop him. Goldberg is the champion. He's the only one who can. Of course, something got in the way of this... let's point our fingers at the usual suspects. Taker's motivation: He's the one who should stop Kane (or) He sure as hell won't job to Kane if Kane had already been beaten by Goldberg. HHH's motivation: Goldberg vs. Kane could actually be successful - might not get the big gold belt back for a while; might not be in the top spot any more; less time to be Ric Flair; more time at home with the wife; more wife; NOOOOOO!!! The PPV bombs, not HHH's fault - he was filming the whole time and was selfless enough to put the spotlight on the two other wrestlers - it's their fault, dad. ... and there are always replays to buy. -
Gerald Strebendt is out, Ivan Menjivar is in according to close sources to Ivan. The card actually got better Menjivar endeared himself to me after I saw him do a german suplex / side suplex hybrid which KO'd his opponent (right on his head). So basically, we have 3 of Canada's top fighters in this event in Carlos Newton, George St. Pierre, and Ivan Menjivar. You're in for a treat. Him vs. Serra might actually beat out St. Pierre vs. Parisyan as FOTY... which has to contend with Couture vs. Belfort, Penn vs. Hughes and a Carlos Newton fight.

I'd say the main causes for the poor buyrate would be (in order): 1. Time - the december PPV's traditionally do lower numbers. 2. Card - it sucked. 3. Main Event - It got the most promotion, HHH vs. Goldberg had been going on for months and this was the blow-off, and Kane vs. Goldberg could have been some money had they booked it properly. So what went wrong? Well, it was a 3 way, and no one cared about who would win. I've purchased PPV's *just* for the main event before (UFC 44), so Main Events do effect buying. -
"Jaynes a Girls name" "Well Jayne ain't a Girl!" I actually had the 4 worked out, but dammit, I completely forgot the other 2.

I think the difference is that the WWE renegotiated/reaffirmed their agreement with the WWFund when they changed their logo back in 1998. The WWFund had no problem with the block lettering, so it would be hypocritical of them now to say "blur that too" since they agreed to it before. You know, that's a great point. It made me think about it: why blur any images on products released and intended for private viewing? But I assume there's some legal reasoning behind blurring on the DVDs, you know, some small print in the settlement. You *do* know that they are commercially selling these dvds, right? Therefore there is nothing "private" about it.

I'm way too fucking optimistic. I "officially" declared Jericho's chances of main eventing effectively again dead at Mania 19 - that's why I reference it. Before that, there was a slight chance; now there is none. -

Like any show, being FAMILIAR and having a CONNECTION with a wrestler is very important. It allows you to invest your time into watching them develop. Sooner down the line, you may get attached to other wrestlers and when that first wrestler is gone, you still have others to be drawn to. I didn't watch Firefly in its initial run because I didn't know any of the actors involved. Then I watched Buffy and Angel and Nathan Fillion and Gina Torres became my "in". I watched the show for them, I got attached to it. They were the "Draw" for the show. -
411: Meltzer confirms Benoit/Raw rumor
RavishingRickRudo replied to JasonX's topic in The WWE Folder
A World title should not be revered based on it's 'classic match' status . If that were the case, the WCW Cruiserweight title would have be the most prestigious title in the company in 96/97. There are several elements which "makes" a title, relating it to great matches is one of them. I don't like the way the New World Title has been handled since it's inception either, but it is a testament to the most 'dominant' wrestler, as being held by the #1 guy in the company (or in this case , brand). Who won't even be positioned as such. Not to mention wasn't a #1 guy (or 2, or 3) on the other brand. Benoit wants to win the *the big one*. The RAW title is the other big one on the other brand. By winning it, his story book dream of being *a* world champion will have been fulfilled. Royal Rumble 2003. He wanted Angles belt. Smackdown 01, he wanted Austins belt. Fully Loaded 00, he wanted Rocks belt. All have the same lineage of Lesnars belt. THAT'S the belt he wants. THAT is what he related his "dreams" to. Distinction of disbelief is an important part of the professional wrestling. Being able to seperate oneself from the fickle 'smark' perception of such things helps to view the RAW World Title with a bit more validity. Even if I wasn't on-line I'd still see that title as the WCW title. I was pretty fickle as a "mark", so maybe I'm not the right guy to say that to. -

RavishingRickRudo replied to JasonX's topic in The WWE Folder
I've said that I think Cena will win the Rumble so that HHH will bury him at Mania - it doesn't mean I can't discuss and dislike the idea of Benoit winning it. Fans don't pay for anyone nowadays, so what does drawing have to do with it? If anything, just TRYING something new is worth it. "He'll recover from it" is such BULLSHIT. Wrestlers have only so many chances - some have a lot, some have very little. The more times it happens, the less likely it will be that they will recover. At Benoits age and at his physical state, there's not many more chances left. So fuck that. Jericho will never be a serious main eventer again. That died at WM 19.
