  2. SPIKETV.com has the last two Forrest Griffin vids up - a pre fight one, and a post fight one. The post fight one is particularly excellent, and a near total change of pace from the previous ones. Forrest talks about losing and how he regrets not pushing more in the third round and how he has to live with that feeling. Plus he goes to the doctor where he comments on the irony that the treatment of his cuts hurts much more than the punches and elbows which caused them.
  3. I could name several of both, but I'd venture a guess that you've already seen them since they are pretty well known. I would suggest being more specific in regards to sub-genres. And COMMANDO is the be-all, end-all of Action movies.
  4. I don't know how you can even decide #3 unless you look at overall ability and how the fighter stacks up against the rest of the division. Because if you look at it from a "this guy beat this guy" perspective, your head will explode.
  5. We're like the odd couple. I'm the neat and tidy one. He's Mexican.
  6. "The form on that punch is just laughable. He could have just mounted me and gained a better position where he could land better punches, but he didn't. What a maroon." - Tait
  7. Tait: He's got all the answers, you dumbass.
  8. Tait IS undefeated in verbally beating down his fellow cast members in a smarmy fashion.
  9. So Amy Sherman Pallidino wasn't able to come to terms with the WB and has left the show. So there basically is no show any more cause her finger prints were all over it.
  10. I am gonna miss Ross. Know what I mean?
  11. Fuck, I want some Pizza.
  12. Alvarez has posted on the site that in the last 15 minutes Dave gives a state of Wrestling/MMA address that is a must-listen and I don't want to pay. So does anyone here subscribe or know where I can go to get it?
  13. Having the two in the confessional at the same time was the icing on the cake. They are totally trying to get TV time. I can't wait to see Herman explode.
  14. DAGGER! Oh SHIT, son. Too funny.
  15. http://theedge.bostonherald.com/tvNews/vie...&format=&page=2 So Couture as Vic?
  16. 400,000? I don't believe it. Rizzo vs. Rodriguez was the last fight on both their contracts, it was said to be the most expensive dark match ever. The UFC contacted Ricco to fight Arlovski for AA's first title defence, but Ricco turned it down because it didn't offer him enough time to suitably train.
  17. There is a lot more positive MMA press going around today than there has ever been before, and it will only increase until there is a death in the sport.
  18. Fighter paydays in the UFC have grown quite a bit from just a few years ago, and eventually they will get to the point to where much more athletic guys who would normally go down other avenues to make money, will see fighting as a good option to get into. MMA is still very new in North America, there isn't a single fighter out there who started taking MMA classes when he was 7 years old and now 15 years later is fighting in the big time. Think of the effect that will have on the fighters and the fighting style 15 years down the line. Lei Tong brought up a while ago the prospect of Mexicans getting into MMA, since there are plenty of great Mexican boxers. There's another angle. There is still lots of potential for the sport, but whether or not that makes the fights more exciting is the question.
  19. As the sport gets more popular, as it becomes more lucrative to be a fighter, as it opens up around the world, there will be more and better athletes getting into it. This could do 2 things: make MMA better, or make it worse. Right now, MMA is pretty free-formed. It's pretty open. There are many different styles and types of fighters; athletes who grew up with traditional martial arts like wrestling, boxing, tkd, bjj, judo, etc. and have centred their fighting style around those bases. Shogun is different from Silva, Silva is different from Liddell, Liddell is different from Tito, Tito is different from Couture, Couture is different from Babalu. It's very diverse, and guys are good enough and well rounded enough and wreckless enough to make for fun and exciting fights (generalization). So as more fighters get into it, as MMA becomes the base style -the one athletes grow up with-, it will probably get more standardized. More structured and rigid and less open. Fighters will be more similar stylistically and things like conditioning and strategy will become more important (we are already seeing that become more important in the past few years). So rather than "styles make fights" it will be "the best athlete wins" Whether that makes the sport better or worse becomes the question. It could be very possible that fights will be more competitive, yet along with that it will be more bland and less interesting. Today when you get two high level fighters, you are either going to get an awesome match, or a really boring match. The thing with strategy is that fighters will be fighting to score points rather than go for the win (in the UFC, PRIDE has rules that try to avoid this), so you would get fights that consist of a takedown or two and that's it, because that's all they need. I don't think I want to see the day when that becomes prevalent in the sport. However, there could also be positive effects of better athletes, better training, better conditioning that means fighters can fight at a high level throughout the entire fight. Which means there is still lots of room for improvement. SO, in the future, is MMA going to be better, worse, or the same?
  20. - Tommy Dreamer He's Hardcore! HARDCORE COPIER OF STUFF THAT I WROTE TWO MONTHS AGO! I demand satisfaction! Full Interview: http://www.ecw.com/superstars/dreamer_interview.html
  21. Judgment, by definition, is not fact. I just think it is more reasonable, given 1) Ortons history of harassing WWE Divas, 2) The WWE's public policy against harassment and history with lawsuits, 3) Foley writing about Melina being given a "tough time" for seeming "arrogant" (similar to stories of Amy Weber, who Orton was accused of Harassing), 4) The article Meltzer posted which dealt mainly with Ortons attitude problems, 5) That the WWE suspended Orton rather than give him drug treatment, 6) The WWEs new drug policy states that wrestlers are first given a warning before any punitive measure is taken, that it is an issue of an attitude problem rather than a drug problem.
  22. I would venture to say the more successful horror movies today tend to be mystery-horror/psychological horror than slasher flicks, which is what SNE is. Different sub-genres, if you will.
  23. They aren't really separate in that paragraph (especially since one followed the other - it was the same train of thought). They were along the same line of treatment. From counselling to medical, with medical being the more extreme option of the two. It was written as "(if counselling doesn't work), he may even have to get medical help." I am not an expert, but if someone has an attitude problem, you don't immediately give them pills to get over it. Pills tend to be a later option, first there is therapy and whatnot.
  24. Which is only significant in regards to wrestling. This will fail, and here's why: The WWE is at the bottom of the barrell. They are past being a joke and are just lame right now, and everything they touch becomes lame, but wrestling fans are also at the bottom of the barrell so they don't really mind. And why the WWEs projects outside of wrestling fail is because that hardcore audience that doesn't mind, that is willing to gobble up all the crap is fed to them, simply isn't big enough to support the grand aspirations that Vince McMahon has. Plus, they are really only interested in wrestling from the WWE, because everything else -music, movies, football, whatever- tends to be done much better by other companies. Their video games do well because that is still within their core product and stays true to the fans' interests in wrestling. Also, I think Vince is devoid of good taste, completely disconnected from reality, and can't tell the difference between what is good and what is bad. Vince cannot recognize good, he only knows what he likes. The fans know what is good, they respond to it, and Vince can then see the response and at least know that other people like it and that he should push it and promote it. At least, he once was able to. Nowadays someone like Matt Hardy will gain a following and Vince will see that people are responding and have no idea why and therefore will not know what to do with him. The same goes with his other ventures and projects. Vince is so blinded by being the Multi Media Mogul that he can't tell that a movie division is a bad idea. The WWE's writing is among the worst I have ever seen on television, which says something for how the WWE chooses its writers, which flows over to their movie division. People don't watch the WWE for its writing or its acting, because both are awful, and movies tend to be primarily about writing and acting. I can't imagine many people watching the WWE and saying to themselves "Gosh, this storyline is so great, why doesn't the WWE go into movies?". For me, its the other way around. I see a TV show or a movie and say "Gosh, this storyline is so great, why doesn't writer/director x go into wrestling?". There isn't a logical progression from what the WWE does to movies, no matter how hard Vince tries to connect the two.
  25. "How hard is it to treat this as a legitmate sport?"
