  1. You asked previously what you could do to look less like an anime fag. Not using pet words like "bishie" is a good start.
  2. If you're under the impression they're not going to return favor in kind, then you're wrong. Half that article is just harping on what's going on in the left side, but if you squint you'll see the part where the right is hoping to use this news to spur on similar donations. Also, I stopped reading opinion books somewhere between The O'Reilly Factor (okay book, better than follow-up "The No-Spin Zone" which is way higher in the count of pointing fingers) and Stupid White Men (well, Moore has a sense of humor. But that's about it.)
  3. Well, let's just sit and talk about "hearts and minds" and shining beacons of democracy and all of this will go away. Right? Right? Anyone who's looked at the history of the middle east knows that's bullshit, and this is just more proof.
  4. Hey, maybe *I* should be appointed to the FDA board of reproduction! What? So what if I've made posts here that make me sound rampantly pro-life? That doesn't mean anything. So what if this is an important position and my track record makes me sound exceptionally biased in the matter? Why don't I get a chance? What does history have to do with anything anyway? Nice straw man. The guy perscribed scriptures for women with a medical condition.
  5. Duo seems to be under the impression I'm attacking him only instead of the people he is being associated with. Also, saying this whole forum is a game forum is like saying this is a political forum or food forum or computer help forum. This is simply a video game subforum that exists because so many gaming topics appeared in General Chat. The vast majority of it's visitors come here for the wrestling, stay for the game chat assuming they're into that. Now, if you want a crowd where the subjects of cosplay, yaoi, anime, fan service, et al aren't going to make everyone look at you like you're crazy, then you'd want a board that specializes in that kind of thing first and foremost. To a crowd that's used to guys delivering usually-painful blows to the head and neck, locking in submissions, and doing bumps that may be felt for months, years, or even a life time..... Yeah, FFX-2 looks a little girly in comparison. There's no reason to act shocked when people here think it or other Square designs are a little too effeminate for comfort.
  6. ...But.. ....But but but but but it's gossip masquerading as a newspaper.
  7. Can't help you unless you provide more information. And please, doublecheck your spelling and English. I can't even guess until I know what you meant above and what kind of computer you're running.
  8. The hot springs scene had it's dialogue changed. They're still talking about boobs, but now they're just hinting about boobies instead of outright engaging in boob debate.
  9. Welcome to CE. Oh wait, that one doesn't work here. I'm not exactly sure really, Angelslayer and Duo turned this into an anime arguement, though I'm happy to join in because the same slobbering fanboys who have the giant "Sephiroth walking through fire" poster on their wall generally have the Goku and Rei Ayanami posters close nearby.
  10. So, I react negatively when people do something stupid. There's billions of us. Okay, but look. You know how Trekkies can be embarassing to someone who likes Star Trek but doesn't take it that seriously? Okay, now that's not a huge problem because most of them are only wearing their Vulcan ears and StarFleet outfits at the conventions. Anime elitests go on like this ALL THE TIME. Personally, because they go on about it incessantly. Well, not all of them. Again, it's not that there's bad seeds, because every "community" (using that word loosely) has them, it's just that there's SO MANY. But all of this is rather insignificant to: No, worship. You know when you put down the Xbox in the other thread and I asked what that was about? It was partially passing interest in why you didn't like it since it has a decent library and the best online plan going according to everyone but the dirt poor, but because I've seen blind Japan worshippers who hate the Xbox simply because the Japanese don't like the Xbox for whatever reason. Because it doesn't agree with them over there, it must be bad. Some of these guys go further and declare it "their" industry. Atari what? The idolism is pretentiousness and the sense of entitlement is amazing among those who consider themselves the elite. For every person who says they want to hear a show in English because they don't want to sit and read all the dialogue, there's several people who take this stuff WAY too seriously insulting that person's intillect, telling them that they don't understand art, etc. These people KEEP the others from getting interested. Now that's a minority and you know it. Okay, so pretend we have Duo, an occasional visitor and respected poster of TheSmartMarks boards. Then, in certain threads, we get Duo, fanboy (unless you're a girl, but fanboyism knowns no gender anyway) who declares quirky fanboy bait such as naked magical girl transformation sequences to be culture. Now, if Duo pushed that SUGOI #$*!!!~^____^~@*$$* personality off a metaphorical cliff and posted as regular Duo, a person that liked video games, there would be less backlash and consternation from the wrestling crowd at TSM, a crowd which really doesn't crossover into the anime crowd very well.
  11. Look, I'm a fan of a number of games/animes/series/etc from Japan, both well known and not so well known. Anime did not begin and end with Dragonball Z or Neon Genesis Evangelion, and just because Cowboy Bebop appeared on Cartoon Network doesn't make it any less of a good show than it was before. However, the problem with these forms of entertainment were not originally the entertainment itself, but idiots who participate in them. Cosplay, the idiots who become so obsessed with fan service that we get animes and games that actually REVOLVE ENTIRELY AROUND fan service, the young girls who become pseudo fag hags because cartoon guys doing it are so appealing (which is like the female equivelant of guys thinking everything they know about sex they can learn by watching porn,) the Japan worship by people who would probably be looked at as the ignorant foreigner if they actually did visit that country. It's just all so STUPID. Being associated with that kind of behavior is what makes it embarassing to be into that kind of thing. Now, although I can't complain about their posting in other forums, Yuna and Duo tend to be the most vocal examples of this kind of fandom here on our board. And again, I'm not saying they're bad posters, I'm just saying this "OHAYO GOZAIMAS, NIPPON ICHI!!! ^_______^" attitude is predictible and embarassing.
  12. UK tabloids are always truthful and never sensationalistic or downright lying, correct? I suppose Prince William really DID have sex with Elvis on board a UFO, then. And what's up with them giving the kid's name?
  13. What's with this?
  14. BitTorrent runs on the idea that one person sends a file, he sends it to (x) amount of people, while they get it they send it to (x) amount of people, etc. When someone's done, it's usually good etiquette to help send a little bit before you close the window and leave. However, downloading movies from public sites like suprnova that IBM mentioned above is risky as BitTorrent is suddently The Hip New Thing to download movies with, and those public repositories of movies are being spyed on by the MPAA. Which is not to say just downloading one movie will get you sued (particularly if it's an older movie that's been in theaters quite a while now), but don't cream your pants and start downloading everything in sight.
  15. It suprises me too how much of a Republican I can be on state issues. I'm not sure if I'm always like that, or if it's more because I live in California. I'm sure my view of immigration would be different if I lived in another state. That's why I forgave Howard Dean for endorsing Gray Davis' licenses for illegals because "I wouldn't want a bunch of people running around not knowing how to drive, either." The people crossing HIS border over into Vermont are not exactly well below the poverty line and coming in huge droves. At the same time, I swear that I can't imagine any other state where a guy at a Gubernatorial debate will say: "We loosely use this word, I think totally inappropriately, illegal. No one is going to arrest them. If somebody is illegal, you arrest them. But nobody is going to arrest them because they are essential to California. Everybody knows they are here to stay. They are part of our family. We have to end this apartheid system that we have toward them. They are part of our community and are essential to our economy. I really object to this term illegal." Now, we're only calling them illegal because they, you know, BROKE THE LAW. I know I'm not the only one who's pissed off by this. Legally-immigrated Latinos have even mentioned how THEY can't get any work because employers find the illegals so much cheaper. It's shit like when the people of San Francsico wake up and decide that if they give more money to homeless, more homeless will come to the city for money, so they pass the "Care Not Cash" program and then some bleeding heart judge comes in and strikes it down, telling the people it's unconstitutional and they don't have a say in matters like that. Unlike the Democrats at my state level, I don't really hate business. Unlike the Republicans at our Federal level, I don't trust business enough to let it police itself. So yes, the more I think about it, the more likely it is that I should have registered non-party. But I keep hoping the rest of the nation's Democrats aren't as dim as the ones here. Universal Health Care is about as socialist as I get.
  16. Sting gets suprising few negative comments despite being such a mainstay of organizations never named WWF. I suspect he's going to be one of those guys who hangs around far longer than he should ala Scott Steiner and will get heat for that soon enough, though. If you discount what anyone may think about his post-wrestling career, Jesse Ventura was gold. He took the bullet trying to unionize the guys, which in a one-man landscape like this would have helped had it succeeded. It didn't, but it's not like anyone predicted it would.
  17. This is not worth flying cross country. Urge to sell ticket, rising. And Choken, you mean: "Only WMXvII has been perfect from top to bottom (excluding a 3 minute Chyna squash)." Don't you..... DON'T YOU?
  18. Well, Arnie's a huge supporter of schools, yet we throw an amazing, absolutely mind-boggling amount of money at schools and can't get out of the 40s in the top schools grading. Perhaps we could save some money if the kids of the families crossing the border were taught English, instead of having special education to learn everything in Spanish. But don't even consider saying that in anything more than a hushed tone...
  19. For those who forgot or haven't kept up, the Republicans here won't let the Democrats raise taxes. The Democrats don't want all the cuts into social programs the Republicans want. Davis' ineptitude and Bustamante's ties to Indian casino money causes a freakin' action movie star to lead the world's sixth largest economy running on a "won't raise taxes unless an emergency requires it" pledge. We now join our circus in progress: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...MNGFE3809Q1.DTL Of course, he's already getting testy: http://www.sacbee.com/content/politics/sto...p-8764251c.html Well, I say, I think we're about fucked.
  20. I've played it for seven hours now. Has anyone seen where my neurological workings have moved off to? It's fun, but Zelda is still my GOTY. It's just that the story is so, so stupid. *weeps*
  21. I don't understand why people think HHH is pyshically incapable of climbing a ladder and falling off it. He can do other things that people can get excited for and won't put him in pain. Christian has proven he can do that, but he doesn't do it often because it hurts and he'd rather use midcard offense than pop the crowd a dozen times and end his career like Jeff Hardy. Furthermore, even if it is a political jab, I don't see what's wrong with the company trying to convince the guys away from a style that hurts them.
  22. A-Train: The "Shave Your Back" Collection
  23. It wasn't that promo. It was Shawn and Nash doing commentary while Big Show and X-Pac kept running in on Brock/Booker. By the way, Nash is the only guy I didn't mark out for. Even though I was yelling swearing like a newborn sailor at Shawn while in the middle of marking out, Nash just did.... Nothing. I don't know why anyone ever thought he should be either company's champ. He just doesn't inspire anything to me.
  24. I loved Super Mario Kart. I hated Mario Kart 64. I like this game. It's probably the best Mario Kart game yet. It is a little too simple to justify paying a whole $50 for, though.
  25. More on this guy: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,...,361521,00.html
