So it looks like we're headed for the Cubs, Phillies, Diamondbacks, and Padres in the NL playoffs. That is seriously the weakest group of playoff teams I've ever seen. If the Cubs are ever going to make a World Series run, now is the time.

That was one ugly, ugly game. Turnovers galore. Yeah USF won tonight but really was this all that impressive? Pat White was knocked out of the game. From what I've seen of USF this year they have way too inconsistent of an offense and a truly horrid kicking game, so there's no way in hell they are going to win the Big East. I can't see them winning at Rutgers, and someone like Cincy will beat them in Tampa. Cincy is the best team I've seen on both sides of the ball in the Big East.

That opinion is likely because they spent about 5 years jobbing Jericho out. Make no mistake, if they had really followed up strong on his debut in Aug. 1999 he would have been a much bigger star than he ended up being. Instead he went around struggling with X-Pac, Road Dog, and jobbed to Chyna and really was never quite the same.

Yeah I saw it and it was real good. I have to say that the bath house fight was so jarring and disturbing on numerous levels that it became almost hilarious. I had to fight to hold back laughter, more out of a sense of shocked disbelief than anything. What was with the ending though? It seemed odd, like there needed to be something more to it.

I don't mind the old WWF stuff where they ignore a guy's previous run in the federation. Do you have any idea how much their audience had changed from 1981 to 1987? Only people in the northeast had seen that Killer Khan run vs. Andre, so to the vast majority of the audience circa 1987 they wouldn't necessarily know who Killer Khan was. Or that Ted DiBiase had a fairly mundane run in 1980. The problem I would have is the stuff like Windham and Steamboat, where everyone obviously knew who the guy was.

Firecrotch....oh lord. Does Christy Hemme really want to invite comparisons to the crackhead Lindsay Lohan? The show was decent. Dudleys stuff was pretty amusing though bordering on overexposure. Stuff like Roxxie Laveaux is really horrid though....the chick looks like some glorified indie worker and she's going over actual serious women wrestlers like Jackie and Gail Kim. When I saw Judas Macias attack Sting last week I immediately thought of the Vampiro feud. It didn't help that they had the Human Torch match on 24/7.

The irony is that Windham's only decent WWF run was in that 1985 era when he was teaming with Rotundo and he was just himself. Even more amusing is that Rotundo found greater fame later with a goofy gimmick as IRS.

That's lame. Such counting is only of world heavyweight singles titles. Tag belts and midcard belts shouldn't factor.

Just watched that You Tube video thing....was there any significance in using "The Wizard" by Black Sabbath? Or was that just a random song?

Actually at SS 91 I recall Piper just saying he was Steamboat. I wasn't sure exactly what they were trying to go for with Steamboat back then.

I didn't say UT vs. Sid was a great match or even a good match worth repeat viewings. But it's nowhere near the worst match ever or anything of that sort.
-
I might want to rent these as the special editions and then actually buy the DVD set next year when both are included. Death Proof is Tarantino's weakest movie, there is very little doubt of that in my mind. I mean what can you place it ahead of? It's not in the same league as Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, the Kill Bill movies had much better action set pieces, and Jackie Brown has better characterization.
-
I don't get the hate for UT vs. Sid really. While not a great match it's a decent enough main event.

I have come to the conclusion that WCCW cage matches suck. They all have refs trying to enforce rules and crap....who wants shit like that in a cage match? It's like they thought Gene Kiniski's involvement as ref at Starrcade 83 in the Flair/Race cage match was a GOOD idea. HH 97 was a fun show but like quite a few ECW PPVs it simply runs out of gas at the end. I enjoyed the first half of the show quite a bit, but it started waning around the time the goofy USWA interpromotional matches started (PG-13, Lawler). I thought it was quite bizarre that Sabu was the champion going into the show and they really didn't mention him winning the belt all that much in the barbed wire match. As in Douglas had an obviously huge advantage going against two guys who damn near killed each other a week earlier!

I'll explain it since I saw it at the theater. Planet Terror was a crazed, mayhem filled horror flick that was off the wall and entertaining. Then we get the fake trailers which were really fun too. Then comes Death Proof....and we get these long, drawn out talky scenes. It really drained the life out of the theater. I personally felt bored for about half of it, since none of the chick characters were worth a damn. I wonder if Tarantino understood the concept of Grindhouse? Rodriguez did a tongue in cheek satire of a Grindhouse horror film, and the trailers were spoofs of silly trailers from that era. Tarantino actually made a Grindhouse movie without a sense of irony or humor behind it, aside from the occasional reference to a 1970s movie (Vanishing Point, Dirty Mary/Crazy Larry).

I'm pretty sure Russo was booking at that point, or dare I say maybe someone else was and then Russo starting booking more at the point where it became Raw is War. -
Airheads? No offense to D'Lo, but if it turns out to be him then nobody will give a shit. Anyone but Jericho will be seen as a letdown.

Here are my picks: GB @ MIN: Would the Packers really dampen a great start by losing to the freakin Vikings? It could happen, but I can't see it somehow. GB by 7. BAL @ CLE: What's up with the Ravens' QB situation? Either way I think they win this by about 10. CHI @ DET: Griese gets the start here, so I think the Bears will assert themselves in this one. Chicago by 6. STL @ DAL: Rams seem helpless thus far and Cowboys are bitchslappers. Dallas by 14. OAK @ MIA: Well someone is going to win this. I'll take the Raiders, they actually haven't looked too terrible this year. NYJ @ BUF: Call me crazy but I think the Bills finally get a win in this one. Buffalo by 3. HOU @ ATL: This will be amusing. Schaub will fuck them up, Houston by 14. PIT @ ARI: Hines Ward is hurt but this is still the Cardinals here. Steelers by 16. SEA @ SF: The Seahawks don't do much for me to be honest, but neither do the Niners. I'll take SF at home by 3, but have no strong feelings either way. TB @ CAR: Interesting game here between 2-1 teams. I'll go with Carolina since they are at home, but TB takes the rematch. Panthers by 4. DEN @ IND: Denver is a massive fraud to be 2-1, having screwed the Raiders and gotten a last second FG vs. Buffalo. Colts will beat the piss out of them by 21 here. KC @ SD: No way do the Chargers lose to the offensively inept Chiefs....right? SD by 10. Bad Sunday Night Football PHI @ NYG: The Giants might misguidedly try to save Tom Coughlin's job. I'll take NY here by 6, the insane 56 points last week might be an aberration. Worse Monday Night Football NE @ CIN: If the Browns put up 51 on these guys, what is Tom Brady going to do to them? NE by 20.

Yeah but Austin at that point knew two things for sure: 1. UT was the #1 contender, so he wasn't getting a shot at Sid. 2. Shawn Michaels was hurt, so that potential match was out. By simple process of elimination Austin had to know he was facing Bret at WM. Who else is there for him to wrestle other than the guy he had been feuding with for months? -
Is Hansen/Martel just that lame thing from Comiskey or is it the actual AWA title change? I am hoping HH 89 wins that poll since I already got both the 1991 and 92 shows off 24/7. As far as the Sting/Vampiro crap goes, I get the feeling Russo might try something similar in TNA with this Judas Macias dude.
-
If I'm Jericho I want a few things in writing before I return. As in some kind of creative control clause to prevent getting buried.
-
Are there no more Legends of Wrestling shows scheduled? The March 31 Raw might be the show with Bulldog vs. Owen in the rematch with one of the greatest angles in history taking place. I remember taping that show since I watched UK vs. Arizona in the national title game that night.
-
Thing is, while people may want Jericho on SD it makes zero sense. Bonnie Hammer wants big stars on Raw, and Raw is short on major guys that haven't been buried or suspended. Also, Jericho has a blatantly solid angle awaiting him with Cena once he returns, since Cena is the guy he lost to and had to "quit" initially. The crowd would all go nuts for Jericho being the guy to finally take down Cena.
-
Another strong ECW show tonight. That 3 way was a nice antidote to Raw from last night. Dreamer is busting his ass these days, the guy is a much stronger actual wrestler than he was during his original ECW peak years (which was mostly him brawling and such). Is it too much to ask for Tommy to get the win next week and face Punk on PPV? What is the point in Burke getting another title shot and jobbing on PPV? Why be so constantly lame and repetitive?

I don't think UT ever faced Sid before WM 13. Anyway the storyline they were going for was that the matches at WM were set in stone. UT faced Sid either way, Bret faced Austin either way. Based on that UT's motives made sense I guess, but I don't get why Austin one week costs Bret the belt and then a couple weeks later tries to help him win it back. Austin seems like a complete moron if you think about it.
