I echo the sentiments of everyone in this thread. Except Banky. I'm quite inept when it comes to carrying conversation, talking to people I don't know, and so on, but even I could make friends when I was attending classes at the local college. And I'm fucking socially retarded.

Funny that nl5 would root against the Bruins if they traded Thornton even though we were kicking around ideas that would have him out of town. I've rooted for other teams in the playoffs, but never over my own team. Each year in the NHL, there's always a team that gets hot at the right time and as a result, becomes a very fun team to watch (Calgary this past playoff comes to mind). I'd never root for them if they played the Bruins in the Finals though. Although I've rooted for Ottawa in the past few years, I think that's an exemption because I liked players that were on the team, and those players became stars. In terms of baseball, I'll root for either the Red Sox, or whoever's playing the Yankees. Every other series, I'll watch, but I don't care who wins. I kind of follow the Celtics and Patriots, but that's because they're both local teams. I have liked the Celtics since I was a little kid, but that's mostly because of Larry Bird. I will admit to having watched my first ever NFL game in its entirety during this past years Super Bowl, but that's the draw of the Patriots for me. I was a fan of theirs when they were fucking terrible.

Avril La-- I kid, I kid. The Vandals - Kill My Tenant, Look What I Almost Stepped In (Also, they have one of the funniest album titles I've ever seen with "Hitler Bad, Vandals Good" Also, for a real party starter, toss in "I Kill Childen" by the Dead Kennedy's.

I'm willing to bet that they get a better turnout in Chicago than they would get in Montreal. Just a guess though. Yeah, it's a way for the Marlins to get "home games" in that are effected by the conga line of hurricanes coming through here.
-
I'm guessing because Florida is under a hurricane watch due to Ivan, and since they're already in Chicago, why not play the games there than risk more games being rained out.

I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is of the impending lockout. Will you watch NHL hockey after the lockout is over? Will you support an NHL the same way after the lockout is over? Those are the two questions that have been eating at me for the last few days. Will I watch the NHL after the lockout? Probably. Will I support the NHL in the same way? Definitely not. I won't be buying any jerseys, hats, or any other merchandise for quite a long time, I won't be getting tickets to Lightning and Panthers games when the Bruins are in town. I'll watch on TV, which is more than enough.

Yeah, the third period ended almost right at 9, David Amber and Moron Melrose came on and said "Some of you may see the intermission and OT, others will get college football" They waited for a few seconds and the college football game came on.

It's not hard, but people have a problem with getting it done.

Sox get shut-out by Seattle to drop two of four in the series. Meche had a good game, only allowing five hits, two to Trot Nixon. Tampa comes to Boston on tuesday, and the Red Sox will send Arroyo, Pedro, and Wakefield against them. This leaves a rotation of Schilling, Lowe and Arroyo to go to New York for that key series against the Yankees.

I'm in the middleclass with my girlfriend now. I can't go any lower than that.

Conine killed the Cubs rally with two good defensive plays in the bottom of the second, and the Marlins have tacked on 4 here.

I've learned my lesson and am stepping down a few weight classes myself.

I always thought that with groups, most restaurants put a 15% tip in your bill to cover the tip for the waitress. I understand that the waitress probably was pissed off, but arresting someone for not tipping is just stupid. I've left a dollar for a waitress once, because it took her over 25(!) minutes to come and take our drink order. I didn't leave because I was with my friends, and it was the only good restaurant around. She made it up with getting our drinks there fast, as well as the rest of the order, but really. We shouldn't have been there for almost an hour and we ended up late getting back to my buddy's house for a Bruins game. I've also left nothing at a seafood restaurant here in Cape. I was out with my mom, we got our food (I had ordered an 'All-you-can-eat' on fish and chips. I got my first plate, and it took the waitress over 30(!) minutes to come back, and when she did, she had this massive fucking attitude. She came back with my second plate and basically threw it on the table and stormed off. She walked by our table 15(!) times (I know because I counted), as I hoped for another plate and a refill on my drink. Nothing. Finally, I got her attention and got her to the table, where we told her to get the check now. She apologised up and down (her excuse was something to do with someone calling off for their shift) but we tipped her $0.00. I made it a point of outlining that with the pen, making sure it was nice and bold. I was going to leave a "Want a tip? Don't smoke face down in bed" but I didn't for some reason.

I was pissed because I had watched the entire game and wanted to see it end. I was even more pissed when it ended about 4 minutes into OT, and the football fans would have missed a grand total of 10 minutes from their game, as the game never starts at the top of the hour. So, a brief intermission report, four minutes of OT. That's about 20 minutes. Not even 10 minutes of a football game. For god's sake, they have Classic and ESPNEWS as networks too.
-
Tonight when the very good Czech Republic v. Canada game tied at 3 and heading into OT, ESPN cuts to a meaningless college football game, leaving hockey fans in the dark. Again.
-
Gotta love ESPN cutting to fucking COLLEGE FOOTBALL at 9. Fucking assholes.

I have a box of probably over 1,000 of them, but I'd have to sort through it to find anything of value. My valuable cards are in a folder in my closet.

Staravenger, you're thinking of Little Big League, when the kid manages the Twinkies. My worst ever is Major League: Back to the Minors Oh, and Celtic Pride.

http://tsn.ca/news_story.asp?ID=98208 Well, even with the death of the NHL coming, Vancouver still signed the Sedins and Alex Auld. I've let it be known already that I think Auld is a better option than they have right now with Cloutier, as at least Auld doesn't have a problem with big game situations. The Sedins were reupped to one-year contracts, and Auld to a two year deal. If there was going to be an NHL season, Cloutier would have started for them, but since Auld has a two-year deal, I would have expected him to be the starter after this season. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=98204 And #4 Bobby Orr has come out with some remarks about the situation that the NHL is in right now. I love Bobby Orr. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=98236 The Panthers resigned Juraj Kolnik, one of their premier offensive threats. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=98207 The Blues signed Christian Backman and four minor leaguers So, looks like we're on a LONG off-season now. What will become of this thread?

I secretly wanted the Cubs to fail just to see what they'd do in the offseason in terms of signings. I think we can safely say that Alou and Sosa are gone. The question is, do the Cubs let Dusty go? He may have permanently effected the careers of Prior and Wood, he seemingly has no control over his locker room (Alou is allowed to blame Steve Stone for his toast being burnt, Alou making a boneheaded play and everything in between.) Sosa has fallen and fallen hard. Clement is unlikely to stick around (at least I wouldn't if I were him, even if it means that he goes to the *sigh*Yankees). He gets no run support, he has a ton of talent that goes to waste everytime he pitches. I think it'll be a long winter in Chicago for the Cubs, as at least the White Sox at least have a semblance of what their plans are for the next few seasons.

He really was obscure now that I think about it. His 1992-93 season was absolutely superb. I miss EA's series when it was simple. Now, they tinker too much and it gets rather ridiculous. Remember NHL 2002, with that godawful breakaway cam? Ugh. EA tends to overrate players in their games. In NHL 2002 for the PC, the following players are 98 overall: Forsberg (understandable) Sakic (understandable) Blake (WTF?!) Lidstrom (understandable) Simon Gagne (WTFWTF?!) Joe Thornton (WTF?!) Mario Lemieux (OMGWTF) I think there are more, but really.

You should take my sig, nl5. We should try to make a DVD with the best NHL games in history. That survey was excellent, although missing a few, like you said.

asker: Do you think the Padres can make the playoffs? ESPN "Expert": They have the opportunity. Give me money now.
