A player's trade value is seemingly only based on his overall value. Even if you have semi-old players like LeClair and others, they're still rated high so you can probably get draft picks and decent overall players. Players' salaries are tied directly to your budget. Trade someone with a 3.3 million salary for a 1st round pick and your players salary is instantly -3.3 million.
  2. Tampa seemed to get too complacent after LeCavalier's goal and expected the Bruins to sleepwalk through the rest of the game. I was happy to see Raycroft play well after getting off to a shaky start as well. Apparently he tweaked his knee and we'll know more before the game on tuesday against the Sharks (Joe's big return). Zhamnov broke his ankle. I almost feel bad for not caring about his health and more about whether or not the Bruins are responsible for his salary for the rest of the year. The defense looks much improved. Gill seems to actually care now, Stuart has made a world of difference on him as far as puck movement goes. Tanabe still sucks at decision-making, but pairing him with Leetch is a good idea. Jurcina and Alberts are playing better as well.

Tampa smoked me the first time I played them in Dynasty. Something like 10-1. I got an email from the owner after that telling me that that'd better not happen again. The toughest team in NHL06 is Ottawa by far. That's really no surprise, but I have to play them eight times in the regular season and have played them in the conference finals three years running. Just when you think you have the game wrapped up, they tie it with two goals in :11 or something.
  4. Ortiz has had those games in the big boy league too. I'd say he was more humiliated that time he tried to slide into home and flopped on the ground, separating his shoulder.

It depends on your minor league coaching upgrade. I have three stars in that update, and most of my draft picks have gone from 55-60 overall to 75+ overall in one or two years. Some guys went on my fourth line immediately to save money, but they're in the same boat as the guys that I kept in the minors. So, I guess it's the same. It makes sense though, since my fourth line doesn't see too much time. I only use them if I've killed off a series of penalties and my top three lines are drained.
  6. Correct, I'm using 'the max' since it's not case sensitive. I think it needs to be changed to 'The Max3' or something else different and then to 'the max'
  7. MaxPower27 MaxPower Max Power MaxSault The Max the max There are probably more, but I forget things. In a semi-related story, the Max Power episode was on my syndication a few days ago. The beginning was pretty funny, but once they got to the tree-hugger party, I lost interest. But I had forgotten how funny the episode was.
  8. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/article.jsp...105_125614_4732 Dave Andreychuk has been possibly waived by the Bolts. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=149399&hubName=nhl Alex Mogilny waived by the Devils yesterday.
  9. I'd like to lose the capitalization of my name "The Max" and just be "the max". Thankee.
  10. Bad start to the new year as the Bruins are shutout by Niittymaki and the Flyers, 1-0. Jeff Richards got the goal on a nice play with Umberger. Other than that, it was a very quiet game. The Bruins outshot the Flyers 27-21, but none of those were really testing Niittymaki, they were shots with nobody in front, sharp angles, etc. A bad game and a bad way to start out the homestand.

  12. Why Ovechkin? I know we argue in sports a lot about value to a team and whether or not it matters if you're in last place. The Crapitals weren't doing anything going into this year and Ovechkin hasn't led them anywhere but 14th in the conference. McCabe has been a good offensive guy this year, but his defense is still suspect. Jagr has been reinvigorated this season, actually looking like he gives a shit now. If the Rangers make the playoffs, Jagr's chances improve greatly. Forsberg...wrong player from that team. Take Gagne. Peter has greatly enjoyed playing alongside Gagne and Knuble this season and his numbers show that. Kiprusoff is an interesting pick. In terms of value, he's more valuable than Hasek is to Ottawa, but as stats go Hasek is having the better year (He's second in all four major goaltending categories). Whether or not you penalize Hasek because Emery has emerged in his few absences is the question. I'd put Hasek over Kipper because Hasek's been consistant. Remember that Calgary and Kipper started off slow, Hasek's been on all season. Noticeably absent from your list is one of Ottawa's big three. Leaving off all three of the guys from Ottawa's big line is inexcusable. Alfredsson is having a career year, Spezza has emerged as a star and Heatley has returned to form. One of those three replaces Ovechkin. Good selections for this, but give it to Chara. One could make a case for Tomas Vokoun to be on this list, having gotten off to a great start (somewhat coming back down to earth might hurt him) and being a part of Nashville's excellent play. This would be my First and Second All Star teams if the season were to end tonight: I bolded my changes
  13. I got soda and beer thrown on me at the Bruins/Bolts game the other night when Bergeron scored the winner on a breakaway. Bolts fans are kind of stupid. They saw I had the Bruins sweater on but acted surprised when I was pulling for the Bruins. This brought all kinds of sarcastic remarks about how they won the Stanley Cup in my lifetime, how the Bruins only have Bobby Orr and Ray Bourque to be proud of, etc. They finally stopped when I noted to them that Bruins great Phil Esposito founded the team and without him, they don't have a team. Ah well. This month defines the Bruins season. If they go .500 or worse this month, it's over and I'd expect Leetch, Samsonov and anyone not nailed down to be moved. They play 10/14 at home this month and really need to start making with the wins.

I'm going to the game tonight Bruins @ Bolts. I'm not looking forward to the drive, especially since I don't really know where I'm going up there. Ah well, it's my first NHL game in years. Maybe some of my screaming at Zhamnov will actually be heard.
  15. Wait, but before the game, USC changes their name to UD: University of Ditka. That's a tough call.
  16. Here's my opinion: I read his stuff and I didn't like it, so I ignore him.
  17. Great, since The Pit is an inside joke with five members. Good luck with that you stuck up cunt.
  18. He'd have to create a thread to learn how to do that too.
  19. ATH? What a nightmare that is.

I'm through year two of my dynasty. I am the 2006-07 Stanley Cup Champions, beating...Columbus(!) in the finals. Luongo decided that he was suddenly worth 10.1(!) million a season, so I dealt him for picks and drafted a goaltender with 95 potential and is a 75 overall. I also drafted a left-winger and solid defenseman. My young guys have developed into 75-85 overall players with tiny contracts. I resigned Marleau to an expensive contract as he's become my franchise player. Some tips for dynasties: - Always have good centers. Centers can play LW or RW in an injury situation and generally have the highest potential in drafts. - Goaltending is not worth 4+ million. There are always goaltenders available for cheap. - Build up scouting and minor league coaching in your upgrades. Scouts allow you to land gems in your system which your minor league coach helps make into stars. Legal and Assistant GM should not be ignored either. Team building stuff is bull, don't waste your money.

I missed Pierre (who I enjoy because he's not afraid to give an opinion. Overanalyzation is one thing, but calling someone out on a mistake is something I like) because I'm still not used to OLN covering games. I looked for it on Center Ice and saw it wasn't there so I figured it wasn't on. We found the game at 9 and watched it and the tuesday lineup on NBC. I'm glad someone finally called MOC on his Zhamnov signing. It's pretty frustrating that nobody will just come out and say "that was a terrible signing, he's on his way out of the league but making 4 million". Wish I would have seen it.

Nice win for the B's tonight. They fell down 3-1 after Ovechkin scored, stormed back with two goals in :49 and won in OT on a Stuart laser. They need to start winning games. The "they need time to gel" excuse is aging quickly and they have a favorable schedule upcoming (after @Florida and @Tampa, they're home for 10/14 in January). Time to start getting hot.
  23. +: Moved out. Bought a car for $10. Bonded with the girlfriend's side of the family after getting off to a semi-rocky start. Got a puppy. Lost a lot of weight. -: Things are just kind of...stagnant. This year has absolutely flown by, and even with all of the plusses, I feel like I haven't done a goddamn thing. Every day is falling into the other and my life is a routine. I'm bored, I think. Something needs to happen soon.
