    NFL Week 7

No love for Chris Samuels? Redskins will get a tough game from Cleveland. Lets hope the Browns have an emotional let down after the huge win tonight. At home, I'll take the Skins. Redskins 28 Browns 17
  3. The Skins have Cleveland @ Home next week. Cleveland looked like a different team tonight, but a lot of teams play over their heads at home on MNF, especially with a chance to knock off the defending Superbowl champs. It's going to be a tough one next week.
  4. Well the Cowboys losing makes it a tad easier to swallow the Redskins debacle, but really all that has done is seperate both teams a little further from the Giants, who looking at their schedule could be at 6-0 before they play a decent team. Go Cleveland, suprise us all!!!!
  5. Just when the Redskins almost fool me again, they go and lay an egg at home to the Rams. Even though the Rams managed a mere 200 yards of offense, I am going to see that stupid fumble recovery for a TD replayed in my mind all week. I thought they had found a way to play awful and still win when they went up 17-16 late in the 4th quarter, but lack of a pass rush doomed them again. Redskins special teams coverage is about as bad as I have ever since following this team. If it's not letting the returner get to mid-field, it's the kicker kicking it out of bounds. At least they have Cleveland, & Detroit on the next two weeks to try and get this corrected, before a showdown with Pittsburgh on Monday Night Football.
  6. Mike, your opinions on this matter are wrong. You have no idea what a fascist government looks like. The United States is FAR from a fascist government, no matter how you look at it. That is all that needs to be said on this matter, and no more. People generally want to view corporate America and the government as mutually exclusive beings. Thus, when people hear of the government stepping in to bail out (or run) corporations, you hear them deride it as 'socialism.' On the flip side, when corporate America is seen to be influencing specifics in the government -- i.e. Dick Cheney's entire vice presidency -- you hear cries of 'fascism.' In reality, we're nowhere close to both. However, when an element of either is introduced, you'll hear it from both parties. I thinK THAT is more what I was trying to say, but I got a little long-winded in my explanation, and I made a mistake by pasting what I did from the Wiki entry. If I came across to everyone as saying "OMG We're gonna be a FACSIST REGIME SOON" then I apologize for that idiotic-ness.
  7. Honestly, though, the hatred for Obama makes a LOT of sense. Not because he actually deserves it, but because every action causes an equal and opposite reaction. As people hail Obama as the next uniting political figure, a savior of American politics, and a worldwide cultural phenomenon -- and even write hymns about him ( ) -- there are going to be people that don't WANT the same brand of change he promises, and have the same degree of disdain for him as his supporters' admiration. The biggest issue is that people can't take a deep breath, remove themselves, step back and realize that they're both politicians. All campaign promises, slogans and songs aside, they're both cut from the same mold: they will make whatever promises are necessary to ultimately achieve election. That is a good point. I guess for everyone looking for "change" there is going to be someone else that wants the opposite and is going to cling even harder to the ways of old. I think Obama represents "change" less-so on economic or foreign policy driven issues but the changing of America's culture itself, it's people, it's tolerance, maybe more when it comes to social issues, so the people that don't like what they see are clinging to what they have left. Some people might see him as a product of multi-culturalism and they hate THAT and are afraid of it, and want it to go away.
  8. Well Yes, yes I do indeed. Like I said, I don't like using "isms" period, because of how our system is really kind of unique no matter form it has taken on over it's history. I guess you could actually say there are elements of a lot of "isms" in it, but not enough of one or the other to make it an "ism" huh?
  9. Yeah pretty much, I mean by the way the crowds are acting, it seems they are mostly their to listen to Palin's "red meat" dialogue then ask any actual concrete questions of John McCain anyway. I mean really, questions like "When are you going to take the gloves off" On what ISSUE Exactly? Oh you mean, when are you going to dumb-down your campaign EVEN MORE, by calling Obama a terrorist HIMSELF?
  10. Well yeah, we can hope that the people that have been wrong on Iraq about everything so far have finally got something right.....
  11. Stories like these McCain booed after trying to calm anti-Obama crowd have me feeling bad for McCain for about a half a second, until I realize it is really his campaigns own fault. If they choose to go around claiming Obama is "paling around with terrorist" "has extremist ties" etc etc etc, then these is the kind of crazy nutjobs that are going to turn out for his rallies. I also get a kick out of the "We love america more than you" right-wing loons. They feel they have to prove how much they love america, by randomly breaking out into "God Bless America" at any moment, because you know that shows you  america ZE~MOSTEST!!! It's just old and I thought these people would climb back under, and STAY under their rocks after 2004.
  12. Not that I actively promote the use of any "ism" but if everyone agrees the definition of "facism" closely matches the quote below..... (From Wiki) Then I would say we have been heading this "direction" over the last eight years more than anything else. I think people have kind of the wrong idea about what Facism is, because it is so closely associated with Hitler & The Nazis, so unless we see a group marching around with swastikas then it must not be, like unless we literally have a guy with a goofy mustache screaming German from a megaphone then it's ok. From my understanding, "Facism" is more about corporate control of the government, and I think that is pretty much the direction we are headed.
  13. Here you go, ready? McCain: We're not getting out until we achieve "Victory" in which I have not clearly defined, and is subject to change. Obama: We must get out of Iraq, so we can get into Afganistan. Be prepared for Dissapointment, oh yes.
  14. Speaking of threads that died...where the hell is the Guitar Hero thread? World Tour comes out in a couple of weeks.......I decided to get that instead of rock band 2. Right now I am mainly playing Madden 09 and Rainbow Six Vegas: 2 Haven't had any problems with my PS3 except one time a few months ago the HDMI video went out and I had to do some trickery to get it to work again, namely, hooking it up via standard cables, switching the setting to HDMI and hooking up HDMI cable, and pulling the standard cables out of the jacks at just the right time(I guess if you have 2 different connections hooked up it auto-defaults to the lesser quality connection) I was literally one more failed try from trying to cash in on my warranty......
  15. So I will ask again, why is the government buying up all these mortgages a better option then the banks just working with people to lower the interest rate to a rate that would keep people in their houses, paying their bills? Aren't some financial institutions in certain states already taking this step on their own? People getting evicted is good for NO ONE.
  16. Oh and just to end any discussion of the BULLSHIT A.C.O.R.N. "scandal" the right-wing is peddling in another last-ditch effort to cause voter suppression..... http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6480 Yes, the source is biased, but before you waste your breath telling me that, please present something to dissprove it.
  17. U.S. intelligence warns Iraq war could explode again http://news.yahoo.com/s/mcclatchy/20081007...clatchy/3066066 but hey, if McCain keeps saying "The Surge is working...." then it MUST be true, and unfortunately the Dems don't seem to have to much to say either.
  18. It's quite hilarious that after the last eight years of the Bush doctrine in place, when someone had the nerve to scream out "Facist" they are labeled a kook, yet as soon as there is a good chance a democrat is going to win the next election these same people are screaming "Socialist, Communist" from every open window of the nuthouse. It goes both ways, you can't call someone a fool for doing one thing and then basically doing the same thing towards the other side. If you want to point to the Bailout plan as evidence of Socialism then you can't with any common sense blame one party over the other, as the majorities of both parties support it, while a small number of each party oppose it. So you aren't really going to find any answers in this by running to one party over the other. The biggest opposition is really coming from the far left like Nader as well as the more traditional conservatives. I really dunno why I decided to even comment on things in those youtube clips had to say.....
  19. So what exactly happened with KJ Noons? Did he just outright refuse to fight Nick Diaz so he got stripped of the title or what? And if so, why did he refuse to fight Nick, just cause he doesn't like him?
  20. Hahaha, yeah I do talk about the Redskins a lot, but hey, even when they suck. I guess I don't have as much time as I used to talk about the entire league. I don't think the Redskins are the best team, I'd give the nod to the Giants, and honestly I'd probably still rank the Cowboys above them, pending on how the Redskins handle the next three games against weaker teams. If the Redskins win all three, and at least two of the three in dominant fashion then I might feel like they are better overall then the Cowboys. I think Drew Brees is probably the best QB in the league thus far. I was talking up Campbell, merely because I think sometimes stats don't tell the whole story, and in a "fantasy football" culture sometimes I am concerned that people look at stats and only stats. The Titans Defense can carry them into the playoffs if not for the fact that they play in the AFC. Face it, most of the high powered offenses in 2008 are in the NFC. (Oh and that 7-1 start in '96 was a pretty much a reverse of this season, they played a bunch of easy teams in the beginning and got an inflated record)
  21. So the point of "Guilt by association" being complete bullshit was hard for you to grasp? The guest was obviously not saying Hannity "hated jews" he was making a point, and a rather strong one about the "guilt by association" that Sarah Palin is GRASPING AT in desperation to save McCain's failing campaign.
  22. I know Jason Campbell statistically isn't even close to the likes of Brees or Romo, however he hasn't thrown an INT yet, he is throwing accurately, he makes plays with his legs when he HAS TO, not as a first option. He has led his team to a 2nd half, and a 4th quarter comeback, has led his team to two division wins on the road. He is playing very smart football, and I think his numbers might blow up a bit over the course of the next three weeks as the Redskins play the Rams, Browns & Lions. Also with a stud like Portis on the team, much of the 4th quarters of games has been Portis and the O-line running down team's throats running out the clock which could take stats away from Campbell. Speaking of the Skins, their defense I think statistically in the middle of the pack right now but then I look at who they have played; Giants Saints Cardinals Cowboys Eagles I'd say all five of those teams have some pretty damn good offenses, so their defense might be getting overlooked right now because of the calibur of teams they have played. As far as this week's game goes. Some will call it a trap, but I'm sorry the Rams are just that bad that I think Campbell could actually throw his first INT of the season and the Skins would still win. Redskins 31 Rams 10
  23. True, but an argument could also be made that "the worst" was the result of former governor Pete Wilson's mass de-regulation policy. I would consider Gray Davis more of a "do-nothing" govenor. He didn't really do anything to fix or help the situation, but at the same time it wasn't his policies that caused it. He just sat on the ball too long. And also, his recall was a bunch of bullshit. The recall was started about two months after he won re-election by some bitter guy who had aspirations to be governor. He pumped approx 2 million of his own fortune into getting the effort started. I was no fan of Gray Davis, but the recall was lame.
  24. I know you got that opinion from Glenn Beck, because someone on another board posted something very similar. They also like Glenn Beck. Do you understand that image or not. If the US didn't have this state, the country would fucking sink. We're supporting everyone else while not getting anything back from the fed. Get it? Hopefully. They owe us. Pay the fuck up. I know that post made me sound like a hardcore leftist, but you know what, I deal in truth, not untruths. Congress wants to give money to banks, while California can't afford to pay their workers? You know all state employees may have to be paid in IOU's. Fuck that shit. Help the people who need it, deserve it, and put in the work for it. Just their hourly fucking wage. The people who count on it. Not some fucking bank. Fuckin' A. I believe California has the 4th largest economy in the entire world. So back the fuck off.
  25. I saw Despised Icon a couple times on seperate tours opening for I think Cryptopsy and then for Vital Remains. They were decent live, but when I listen to their albums it is nothing too exciting. Oh and a few years ago I saw Deicide & Vital Remains on the same show. It was kind of hilarious to see Glen Benton tell the crowd "Goodnight muthafuckas" and then come out 20 mins later with the spiked iron mask on w/Vital Remains, as if we all didn't know it was him....hahahahaha.
