Its kind of funny how republicans/conservatives throw fits when people throw around the "hitler/nazi" references (which, sure they have a point) but they are always the quickest to turn around and scream "Commies.....Socialists" back at the left. I guess that is my main gripe is it seems like the media wants to pretend this kind of name-calling started under Bush, but there was an abundance of Clinton/Commie rhetoric going on during his eight years. A guy like Dennis Miller who suddenly was "born again" conservative because he said one day he was walking down the street and someone called Bush a Nazi. Yet, is he outright ignoring the same bretheren on the right would routinely call Clinton a commie, and are now calling Obama a socialist. It's kind of funny to see Dennis Miller struggle to come up with rationale for his newly found conservative "viewpoints" like he doesn't really believe half the shit he's saying, but he has to go along with it to keep his paying gig as a "Fox News Contributer" that, or he has to save face. Umm...yeah I got off topic a little.

Randy Couture signs new 3 fight contract with UFC
NoCalMike replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
So if Lesnar beats Randy, and Dana White manages to sign Fedor, do they jump right into Lesnar v. Fedor? I would question Brock's assertion of "who fucking cares about Fedor" As I think most MMA fans do care and want him in the UFC. If that happens, Brock better start caring about Fedor. -
Does TSM have a secondary league I can join as well? I am already in the UFC league.

Preggo Palin Kid.

So their saying Palin is a "maverick" as well? I find it highly hypocritical that Obama is being criticized for being "young, inexperienced" yet McCain's people are trying to use the term "Maverick" as a plus. Mommy, where do babies come from?
-
Is the speech gonna get a replay tonight? I was out and about. I just want to see Lieberman make a fool of himself as he starts listing off issues that the Republicans don't care about. Oh and I heard Fred Thompson knocked Obama for his abortion rights, which is weird cause isn't the majority of the country pro-choice(at least through the first two trimesters)?

Any word on what this year's "purple band-aid" pure class gesture is going to be at the RNC?

Oh, you mean THIS GUY!?! Everything seems to be so over-the-top cartoonish on the McCain campaign front lately that now I actually fear he might just win.

Randy Couture signs new 3 fight contract with UFC
NoCalMike replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Brock with his sheer size & strength is going to be a problem for anyone, no matter what their skills are. When you are Brock's size, all it takes is a mere takedown and it might render the guy on the bottom useless. Now, with that said, that isn't to say Brock is going to win and look good. I could very well see Brock bring his usual boring, "takedown-lay around-hammerfist" fest, but because he is so big & strong it would be hard for even Couture to get Brock's massive body off of him so it is possible he will be rendered helpless under Brock. Coutore could lose without even being really hurt, Brock's size & strength make him a pain to deal with unless he is facing someone with the striking power/skills to knock Brock out or threaten to every time Brock tries to come and shoot in. I don't wanna come off sounding to down on Brock Lesner. I mean the guy is a virtual baby in the sport and he has plenty of time to round out his game and get way better. -

Question though; if Randy does indeed fight Brock first and loses, in a devastating fashion. Does that take away the luster of Randy/Fedor? I mean I really don't even think Brock has earned this fight yet but I could see where business interests take over. If I was Dana White I'd really try to work on getting Randy/Fedor signed FIRST. -
More WRs pushing off in order to try and get seperation I would imagine.
-
Well how does this rule come into play on catches in the endzone? Because I can think of plenty of times where I've seen WRs catch balls in the back of the endzone and get pushed out while they were in the air, but it is ruled a TD due to a forceout.

I am just wondering why Palin having a child with down syndrome makes her a good or bad candidate. Every single pundit seems to need to throw that little tidbit in there "She is the mother of five children....................................................the youngest with down syndrome" So what? I can't fathom why that qualifies or disqualifies you from being a VP....... And I do agree that it is also hypocritical that politicians want to use their families as props when it is convenient to do so but the second their family does something stupid, their suddenly "off limits" and I have yet to see any attacks on Palin's daughter herself, just boatloads of sarcastic remarks about "abstinence-only" education not working in this case, which seems to be a valid point because it begs the question of what happens when the teenagers make a mistake.

I will be hosting this at my house....if you plan on attending shoot me a PM. -
250GB might just be the beginning though. If they start tracking what the average internet user is using, they might lower it and then they might start a tier'd system where you have to pay more for what you use. This 250GB thing is probably just the beginning.....

I agree with Jerk on this, The pregnancy alone is a total non-issue to me, kids make mistakes/accidents happen and I don't think anyone cares about that. The issue that comes into play is the "moral superiority" that people like Palin preach, the "do as I say not as I do" rhetoric. If this was Barack or Biden's daughter, the spin on the story would be "see those no morals liberals, just wait until they get into office, they will spread the word of the devil" Yet, because it is conservative it will be brushed off by other conservatives as no big deal and "oh she's just a normal person like you and me" Even though this might have been a direct result of Palin's "abstinence only" education agenda. But really, besides this entire issue beit the pregnancy or the hypocrisy, this Palin lady just seems to be a right-wing loon job. Period.

Isn't the morning after pill the one that is often confused with the actual "abortion pill" which I think might be "RU-486" or something? The morning after pill prevents conception, it doesn't kill anything.

From yahoo sports......rule changes are as folllows: — Giving designated defensive players a radio in his helmet, allowing coaches to relay defensive signals just as offensive signals are relayed from offensive coaches to the quarterback. — Eliminating the 5-yard penalties for incidental face masks. Only the 15-yard penalty for grabbing and twisting the mask will be enforced. In addition, officials will be on the lookout for offensive players who latch on to the face masks of defenders in an effort to take them out of plays. — Eliminating the force out rule. In the past, officials could rule a receiver whose feet had not touched in bounds had made a catch because a defensive player had forced him out. Under the new rule, a receiver must land with both feet in bounds regardless of whether or not he is hit while in the air. “We feel that with so many levels of judgment that go into the force-out call, it creates a more consistent play when either you get your feet down for a complete pass or you do not,” says Atlanta president Rich McKay, co-chairman of the competition committee, which proposed the change. — Extending instant replay to cover field goal and extra points and illegal forward handoffs. One reason the rule was added was a play at the end of a game in Baltimore in which Phil Dawson’s 51-yard game-tying field goal attempt for Cleveland bounced off an upright, then off the support behind the crossbar. Officials first ruled it no good because they thought it had hit the crossbar, then conferred and made the correct call. The Browns went on to win in overtime. — Muffed snaps will now be in play if they are not touched, allowing the defensive team to recover. In the past, they were ruled a false start.

People seem to overlook the fact that Strahan retiring might have just as much of a negative impact on the line as well whether Osi was a part of it or not. Osi is great, but it didn't hurt to have an all-pro like Strahan on the other end wreaking havoc as well. So anyways. It's hard to pick against the defending superbowl champs at home, opening the season. This is however, an NFC East division game. And the Redskins minus a second half collapse in their first meeting with the G-men last year would have beaten them twice. Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda.....I know, but hey just saying...... Assuming Jason Taylor plays, I will be excited to see Andre Carter finally get the help he deserves on the other end of the D-line. Jason Campbell has had a mixed bag during preseason, looking very good in the first three games, and sorta lost in the last two. My mind is telling me to pick the Giants by about ten points, but it's opening week, football is finally back and my heart will win out for Week 1..... Skins 24 Giants 21

Can someone sell me on The Eagles in 2008 being a contender? A lot of "experts" are picking them to do really well some even have them representing the NFC in the superbowl. I don't think they are going to suck by any means, but I see them being a .500 team by the end of the season. What am I not seeing? A healthy McNabb and Brian Westbrook is a good combo but is it enough to handle the tough defenses in the NFC East? EDIT: Oh and when does the "Regular Season" NFL thread start? I am anxious to talk some Skins/Giants stuff....

So is De La Hoya interested in anything but cash cowing or is that how he is going to end his career?

Well I think Obama should get some benefit of the doubt and be able to attack the other side somewhat aggresively because it's not like Bush is wrapping up a great success of an 8 year run, in which he is leaving as a popular and well-liked President. The majority of voters consider him incompetent and his policies a failure. His policies should be attacked as should any Bush policy that McCain intends to continue. Obama was right with his "ENOUGH" tone. I do kind of think though that some things weren't harped on enough, such as torture, the enviornment, illegal wire-tapping etc etc.....but I guess I have to take what I can get.
