I can respect debate on the issue of Global Warming, but I don't respect when people are being intellectually dishonest in their arguments. When a pundit points out that it is snowing in Michigan as proof that Global Warming is false, it just makes me want to throw something through my TV. And to be honest what makes me mad is that I know damn well they personally know that what they just said has no validiity to it(whether they believe in Global Warmning or not) but they will keep saying those types of things because it will go over with the ignorant people.

I have a question for any conservatives or republicans or anyone in general that doesn't believe in global warming/climate change etc..... Are conservative pundits capable of at least being intellectually honest when debating the subject? I was at work and listening to various talk radio and I heard three different radio hosts go back to the well with this "yuk-yuk" schtick.... Host "Hello, so-and-so (from a cold-weather city) yer on the air" Caller "Hi, yeah it sure is cold here" Host "Yeah I bet it is, you might wanna ask these liberals whatever happened to global warming LOLOLOZ!!!" I mean really, yes I am sure there are some people still out there that think Global Warming means every spot on the earth is going to become a volcano, but these talk show hosts are smarter then that, they know that isn't what the argument is or what the science says, but they continue to falsely put out this notion that Global Warming proponents are somehow trying to argue that we are all melting off the earth.....

Terrorists took down the World Trade Center. Do you not think they could take down some silly prison to break them out if they wanted (which would be more likely than the prisoners themselves escaping on their own)? Really far fetched but so is taking two planes and knocking down 2 skyscrapers. You are directing that towards the wrong group of people, we're not the ones that were sitting in front of a panel of our peers looking like clueless dumbshits trying to explain our way out of a paperbag saying how impossible it was to fathom THAT very idea when our own intelligence put that information under our very noses. I believe that was Condaleeza Rice..... But hey, here's hoping from here on out our executives actually pay attention to those kinds of warnings....

lets go ahead and keep this bumped *bump*

The nWo worked initially because marks were on the cusp of actually believing Hall & Nash were WWF guys invading WCW. And then Hall & Nash did enough smarky things to entertain smarks. I just listened to the Scott Hall shoot and apparently Sting was originally supposed to be the 3rd member, but since Hogan had creative control, he decided to gravy train the nWo angle and become the third member. nWo worked best when they were looked at as outsiders invading. They lost pretty much all luster when it seemed at one point half the WCW roster was in one of the nWo groups.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he is washed up, I mean he gave Cotto almost all he could handle last year, but in boxing moving up and down in weight can be a huge deal as far as performance goes. Some guys have early success they can't match later because of moving up or down in order to go after big money fights, and then people think they are done as a fighter, but then they move back to their natural weight and they once again become dominant. Is the Affliction fight on the 24th? I wonder if Hooters is showing it, I know they didn't show the last one but that was because UFC had a show the same night.

I had something similar happen a long time ago. My system is configured for 1080i, and this one time I was watching a movie and when I went to take out the movie the PS3 went black instead of going back to the default startup screen. So I reset the system and all of the sudden it went back to the default display with the red/white/yellow cables....I had to redo the display detection for HDMI and it was a headache cause I had to basically select HDMI and then instantly pull the standard RCA cables out or else it would pick up the weaker connection and select it.....eventually I got it squared away but not before I was about to throw the PS3 through the window...lol. Hasn't happened since.....

I have Resistence 2 as well. I really like it and I have only played single player so far with the exception of some short stints on deathmatch. I can't wait though to get into some of the team-based campaign game....if anyone is up for it send me an invite if you see me online....I've got a headset too.

Madden, NFL Head Coach, and NCAA Football 2009
NoCalMike replied to Matt Young's topic in Video Games
Yes and it is especially annoying because after playing a human opponent for a couple of quarters you can usually pick up some tendencies and play better defense, but then switching to a CPU opponent is like starting over against an opponent you know nothing about, so it takes any advantage away. If someone punks out and leaves the game, it should be an automatic win. -
So I have one of those "Something's wrong with your PC"
NoCalMike replied to NoCalMike's topic in Technology
Umm....really? It's that drastic? Right now I am running a scan on windowsecurity.com's trojan scanner....it has already found a shitload of stuff.......hopefully when this is done it will have taken care of the problem..... -

You have a trojan that is similar to XP Antispyware 2009. Boot in safe mode and run whatever tools you have. Let us know if it doesn't work. It didn't work What should I do now? -
Question: Are they charging extra money to see the flick cause it is in 3D? I remember when Journey to the Center of the Earth came out, it was $1.00 extra to see the 3D version.

The Upcoming Shows/Rumored Fights Thread
NoCalMike replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Is this on PPV? Why the hell is Dave Kaplan on a PPV card? Even it is on the undercard? -
So this dumb thing pops up once in awhile claiming to be a PC scan....it does it's fake scan and then requests for me to download "VIRUS SCAN 2009" of course it is all designed to look like something official from Microsoft.....and then when you actually go to download it it says "unknown publisher, publisher cannot be verified" OF COURSE....so I know it is fake and it is more of an annoyance then a hinderance, but I can't seem to find it so I can delete it.....does this type of thing sound familiar to anyone and what is a good tool/utility for finding it and getting rid of it? Thanks. EDIT: I am scanning with McAfee right now, it is a little outdated but hopefully it works.

Yeah the Circuit City liquidation out here is a bunch of bullshit, you have guys with flyers and banners outside the store saying, "35% off everything" then once you actually go in the store you find it, that it doesn't apply to TVs, and if the TV is "already on sale" then there is no markdown, and if it isn't on sale, only 10% off............BULLSHIT. They are expected to have inventory to last through March, so if I haven't already got my tax return back and bought a TV elsewhere, I might check back in there to see if the discounts have gone up some due to being more desperate to get rid of stuff..... I was just amazed at the number of idiots in there thinking they were getting any kind of good deal on something.
-
Yup. And then on top of that to hear Rogan blabbering on about how great the skills are being displayed is laughable. Neither guy looked to have much "skills" looked a lot more like sloppy brawling. Now, I understand not everyone is an elite fighter, but I am sure there are enough quality fighters out there that could have pushed that opening match off the televised card.
-
Overall the show was decent, however I dunno why a lot of people are so ga-ga over the opening bout. It looked like a glorified toughman fight except with better cardio. This is supposed to be MMA, I am kinda getting tired of fighters throwing someone down or taking them down only to stand there and let the fallen fighter stand back up. Now in certain situations, like when you are fighting a black belt in BJJ then I understand, but were both guys in the opening bout so one-dimensional that all they were going to do the entire fight was throw sloppy haymakers? And the way the crowd(live and at the bar) just ate it up......UGH.
-
Do you think we should abandon our current league and start a new one with people who you know, actually participate? It seems like maybe 3-5 of us actually do it with relative consistency, while others just kind of pop in every few shows.
-
I agree 100% The turn had been teased so much that people were aching for it, and Sabu as a heel would have been perfect for the ECW atmosphere, as people would barely be able to bring themselves to boo on of their heroes, but would probably do it because they loved RVD even that much more by that time.
-
Well see thereinlie(d) the problem I guess with ECW on TNN. With a new audience, guys like RVD are new to them, and if Heyman is trying to get an entire new audience over with RVD, it might be dangerous to unload the belt. Of course the people who followed ECW up to that point would still be all over RVD, but that is because they were familiar with his body of work, newer fans not so much. Who knows how they would have reacted?
-
Possibly, because ECW on TNN was produced more as a traditional wrestling program. ECW's old syndicated show was almost a companion piece to the internet, in that unless you were living in the Philly area(and or lived in an area ECW frequented making it possible to attend shows), all you got of ECW was a a snipet of 43 minutes(cause of commercials) every week, so you mostly relied on the internet to find out everything that was happening during their big shows that they couldn't fit onto the hour show. Some of the bigger ECW Arena shows would provide for about 3-4 weeks of shows, but sometimes even then the tv audience would miss out on a lot of the promos and extended mic time certain workers got at shows. In other words, ECW on TNN felt like a a product that was produced for TV, where as the old syndicated show felt more like someone just videotaping a wrestling show and broadcasting it. Both were enjoyable, just different.
-
It wasn't horrible, but it was apparent that Heyman was trying to make the best out of a bad situation with the state of ECW, and a network that treated ECW as a pawn to try and get Roller Jam and whatever that basketball on Trampoline show was!?! Still managed to have a lot of good matches and shows, but anyone who watched the syndicated show in the mid-late 90's knows it just wasn't the same.
