I'm curious as to how such a horrible, offensive term like "white trash" became universally acceptable.

It's not Christmas anymore, but I still see people who have lights on at night. This annoys me. Now I can understand being too lazy to take them down. Alright, that's cool...but not turning them off?!? Seriously, enough with the lights.

I must have mistaken this thread as fair ground for silliness. My apologies.

The Astroboy thread in the Movies folder...

The reason you wouldn't call the things insular or cheesy or moronic is either because they are not or you are. I'm going with you are. Fag. I don't care about what other people think are low brow or high brow or whatever. I already said that. I like Adam Carolla, and he is often and such and such quite sophisticated. That's not why I like him and I don't like him when he is low brow or whatever because or not of that and shit. Ah, people who think he is low brow have veiled voices. Don't trust them. I like comedy stuff from all over the place. I like the tv show Babar, it was funny a lot. I also liked The Goodies, and that was fun. I liked the movie Bill and Ted and the sequel, lots of fun there. I started listening to Austen Tayshus and Fred Dagg around 1990, and the 12th Man. That is all stuff I enjoy. I also like Billy Connolly. I like the Ace Ventura movies, and The Mask and lots of other things Jim Carrey has done. I like lots of stuff by The Wayans but not the movie Blankman, that is death nausea to me. I like the show Lost on Earth which was a sitcom which had puppets. There was a british show called After Henry, I liked that a lot. Also, I liked Red Dwarf heaps. Hmm, I also liked Alexei Sayle and The Late Show. Not Letterman's Late Show, the Australian Late Show. Letterman is disappointing, I thought he would be bettre than Richard Stubbs but he wasn't. He is weak. I like Franklyn Ajaye, and I like the show Bottom. I like the movie Guest House Paradiso. I like The Brittas Empire and I like Big Train, and Spaced too. I like Shaun of the Dead and I like How Do You Want Me? and Black Books. I like Dennis Pennis and I also like Rude Awakening. I like New York Daze starring Portia De Rossi and I like Dame Edna Everage. I think that Rowan Atkinson's various stuff has been funny too, most of the time. Black Adder, Mr Bean, all good. I love the show Blood and Honey by Tony Robinson, I think his name is. I like the show South Park. I like the movie Baseketball. I like the other stuff the south park guys do too. I like the Guns episode of Roommates. I like Freddy Got Fingered. It is so sweight. I like Fawlty Towers. I like The Ferals. I like The Last Unicorn, and the movie Croupier. I like Labyrinth, and I also like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and also both the Ghostbusters movies. I like the Michael Keaton Batman movies very much, and the 60's Batman show and movie. I like Hush! and I like The Addam's Family and The Munsters and Get Smart and I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched and The Beverly Hillbillies, and even the Beverly Hillbillies movie featuring Rob Schneider! I like Broken Badges and I like Lovely Rita. I like Johnson and Friends and I like Rugrats. I like Maid Marian and Her Merry Men and I like Pre-Fornication Blues. I like the writings and other art of my friend and my brother and I even make myself laugh sometimes. Last night I told a joke about an interview we'd seen the night before of Bono, circa Achtung Baby! talking about how he now knew how Garry Glitter felt. He was referring to his wrap around shades but I suggested it was because he had started consuming child pornography. Brother liked that very much, friend a bit. I like Boothby Graffoe and I like Jimeoin and Eric Bana (y'all dont' know he's funny yet, do ya?) and everythign by the Late Show people like A River Somewhere and The Castle and The Dish. I like Shaun Micallef and Coupling and I like Sarah Silverman and Wendy Liebman and Dr Katz. I like Dave Chappelle and David Cross's double cd and Chris Rock. I like Eddie Murphy movies usually and I like black people a lot! I like Richard Grieco and Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. I like George Carlin's sitcom but I don't lke his standup much and I hate Bill Hicks, he is a loser. I like Becker and I really liked That's My Bush even though I covered that already. I like Ben Elton sort of, and I like Hale and Pace. I like Married with Children and Charles in Charge and Happy Days. Mash can be funny, sort of. Blossom was funny, what a nice show. Ghostbusters, the cartoon that had nil to do with the movies, that was funny. Inspector Gadget too. Howard Stern's movie is hot. I like Pumping Iron and Regurgitator. I like Dick Francis books and Clive James. Orson Welles' Mercury Theatre of the Air is oft-time very funny indeed, especially those soup commercials! I like the show Living Single starring Queen Latifah and I like My Three Sons. I like Elvis movies like Blue Hawaii. I like heaps and heaps of old movies that are funny like Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music and Victor/Victoria and The Wizard of Oz and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I like the Lion King and the disney Hunchback of Notre Dame. I like people in life that I hardly ever see but are funny, like Luke and Kerryn. I'm sure I'm leaving lots out but I am too much to be enough. Oh, and god bless Lindy Booth.

My girlfriend and I live far apart. I've never loved anyone before her; not my family, not myself, not anyone. At the moment we're what you call "net-dating." We've been through a lot of issues together the past year and a half, but we still love each other and we still want to be together in the real world. She's made me happier than anyone else ever has. Do you frown on this? Do you know anyone that would frown on this? I've never had a girlfriend in real life. Never tried to get one, either. Most girls look down on me as some sort of scum. Now do you frown on this?

Mr Children put a new album out? I love those bastards. How does it rate with earlier stuff? I can't say because I was introduced to them with this album. But now that I've heard it I want to get all their albums. I fell in love with every song.

    Deep Thought

One happened when I was a kid, on a camping trip with my uncle. We were just checking out of the camp ground, and I ran inside the office to use the bathroom quickly. The car had been parked along side the office, and when I got back I ran up to the car, opened the door, jumped in the seat and buckled in. I did all this very quickly, and then proceeded to put my head back and close my eyes in order to nap on the way to the next destination. A few moments go by, and I hear nothing and the car isn’t moving. I open my eyes and look around to find that I’ve just jumped into the car (a very similar looking one to my uncle’s) of an Asian family. No one said a word, they just had a very surprised/almost scared look on their face, and I quickly unbuckled and got out of the car. I saw that they lived in British Columbia later (plates). To this day my family still brings it up and makes fun of me with it.

    What I want to see.

A friend and I were visiting another friend of ours who had moved away his sophomore year of high school. This visit was during his schools graduation weekend, so Saturday evening we planned to hit a few different graduation parties. To kill some time before that, we decided to watch The Fugitive. This was 12 or so years ago, and The Fugitive was a pretty big movie at the time. For those who haven't seen it, or don't remember, it is important to note that "the one-armed man" was a central figure in the film, and had more or less entered into the public consciousness at this point. So anyway, we get done with the movie and the three of us head over to the first party. It wasn't much of a party, mostly old folks sitting around chatting and a handful of kids playing over in one corner of the room. Since I didn't know anyone at all, I exchanged some quick pleasantries with the adults, and then made my way over to the kids corner. As soon as I sat down, a young kid, probably 6 or 7, came running over to me. He had a toy gun in one hand, and his other arm he had pulled into his shirt, so the sleeve was hanging empty. Having just watched The Fugitive, I decided it would be funny to loudly exclaim, "Oh no! It's the one-armed man!" There were several gasps, and then the room went completely silent. Silent except for the young boy who was now crying. Oops, guess he didn't just have his arm pulled into his shirt afterall! If looks could kill, I would be a very dead man at this point. I jumped up and stammered out a half-assed explanation and tried to apologize. Fortunately my friend decided this was a good time to leave, so he quickly said his goodbyes, grabbed me by the arm and pulled my ass out of the house. Come to find out, the kid had lost his arm to a landmine in Cambodia, and had recently been adopted. Go me! I still feel horrible about it to this day.

*drops pants to take a shit in a public stall* Man next to me: "How's it going?" Me: "...." Me: "Fine, I suppose" Man next to me: "I'll call you right back, the guy next to me is talking to me in the bathroom." Me: "....." *finishes up as if nothing happened and runs out*
