It wasn't trying. It accomplished that feat. I just don't think you were listening.

I remember after seeing Requiem For A Dream in 2001 being absolutely fucking jazzed on whatever Darren Aronofsky had planned next. Upon hearing that he was going to be filming a big-budget movie with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett in the leads I was interested but kinda concerned that the project would collapse under the weight of everything involved. Thank God it did. Pitt and Aronofsky were at odds with each other regarding production issues and Pitt closed up shop and went off to film Troy. Production was shut down and the script was shelved for 2 1/2 years until Darren managed to revive it with a budget that was half of what the original was and Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz (whom he's married to) in the central roles of Thomas and Izzie. When I find a movie I really, really fucking like I try not to go overboard with the typical sayings of "Best ever" and so forth. Having said that, this is one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking movies I've ever seen. If you truly believe in movies having the power to make your heart "heavy" then this one unquestionably made me feel that way. The story takes place in three different time periods. Spain in the time of the Mayan tribes and Christianity invading, the 20th century and hundreds of years after that in the future. The plot is fairly basic while at the same time appearing amazingly complex: It's about a man who will do whatever it takes to save the one he loves from dying. In Spain it is the search for the tree of life, in our time it is about a medical cure for death. The movie cuts between all three periods at random so you never get used to seeing things a certain way. The directing is different from RFAD and Pi. I wouldn't use the phrase "mainstream" as there as still signature Afonofsky stylings but the movie as a whole feels more accessible then his previous work. There are some very interesting effects choices here too, especially during the scenes in space where the surrounding environment is actually micro-photographic shots of chemical reactions on slides under a microscope, which Aronofsky picked because he felt it looked more organic then cg effects. It was released to fairly lukewarm reviews from critics and a poor showing at the box office, neither of which I could give two shits about. This was the most overlooked, underappreciated movie of 2006 and when I look at the five actors who got nominated at the Oscars it's a crime that Hugh Jackman wasn't a part of that group. If you like good movies that challenge your level of thinking, rent this. If not, hey, there's always Pirates 3.

I Know Who Killed Me is a leading contender for worst movie title in quite some time.

Lindsay Lohan Booked On Suspicion of DUI
Lord of The Curry replied to haVoc's topic in Television & Film
Nah. She's not going to show the goods until she's in a Halle Berry situation where the nudity is a part of a role that can lead her to bigger things. I imagine we'll see quite a bit of cleavage and ass shots in the movie but I can't see her letting the twins out for air with such an obvious role. -
It's being taped then, yeah but it's airing at the usual 10 pm time.

Not once they see the awesomness that is Griffin vs Guida.

How the mighty have fallen. -
Press Conference notes...... - Sellout crowd with a 4.3 mil gate - Dana said that they just acquired PRIDE officially yesterday or the day before - Mentioned Wanderlei in September as a possible return fight for Chuck but that might not work considering Wandy is taking a year off to recoup and train. UFC would likely throw a shitload of cash at him for coming back early. - Talked about how nobody would ever think that Rampage vs Henderson would decide who's the best 205-er in the world - Mentioned that they are still working on getting Fedor - Said he respects the PRIDE champions because they worked to win their belts and that Rampage/Hendo won't be unification, the winner will just hold two belts (or in Dans case, three) - A reporter asked Rampage to walk the media through the right hand that ended it. Rampage stared at the guy like he was retarded and asked "What? You didn't see the fight? Next time watch the fight."

Chuck has one of the best "Whahappened?" faces after he gets up. Tremendous.
-
Most likely. 75 is in England and UFC isn't going to throw away Hendo/Jackson on that card so it'll either be 76 in October or 77 in November. It more or less hinges on when UFC books their New Jersey show because Serra/Hughes will be headlining that one. That picture in Mik's signature is fucking epic.

AHAHAHAHHAHAH. GET THAT MONEY
-
Once again, don't be silly. Nobody likes Chuck. People are just indifferent to him. EVER HAD YO ASS WHOPPED BY A BLACK MAN?! IT HURTS~! RAMPAGE MAFUCKAAAAAAS
-
I think the opening round will decide it. Like Hawk said, if the Jackson who almost got caught by Marvin Eastman shows up, he's going to sleep early. If he uses his jab to set up the hooks and get in close, he's got a chance of either catching Chuck with an uppercut or getting a bodylock or clinch which could lead to a slam. If Rampage is taking this I don't see him finishing Chuck until the third, maybe fourth round.
-
Chuck has been killing everybody. Rampage dropped a split decison to Lindland which many will argue he lost. Before that he struggled to put away fucking Hirotaka Yokoi. I like Rampage and all but Chuck is the overwhelming favorite for a reason.
-
My heart is with Rampage. My brain is telling me that you'd have to be completely and utterly fucking retarded to bet against Chuck.

Michael Dawson = Not John Lantham.

Don't be silly. Nobody wants Chuck to win.

The Valenzetti Equation. In the Sri Lanka Hanso video he says that your mission on the island is to disrupt one of the numbers in the equation and change the course of human history.

This is actually some really slick marketing on Dana's part. Use the footage of the brawl to get people to tune in and when they do they get a lesson taught to them by Mr. White about how this is not what the UFC is all about.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread
Lord of The Curry replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Dana confirmed on a conference call yesterday that Shogun is signed to a UFC contract. He also said there's a chance we'll see him show up post main-event on Saturday to challenge the winner. If Shogun shows up, we riot. -

So, Dana has said that NJ is hosting a UFC event in October or November. I won't say that Serra vs Hughes would take place there, but Serra vs Hughes will take place there. -
Yeah, Dana is the motherfucking Alpha Males of Sports right now. Fuck it all.

I don't think that from here on out they'll all be flash-forward episodes because there's gotta be questions that need answers that took place in the past. How Desmond landed himself in military prison is one that sticks out in my mind at the moment.

Good point. People are going really nuts over the whole "Who is in the coffin?" theory, even going as far as to say that it's a kid in there because of the size of it. Occams Razor would tell us that based on Jack's "Neither" response to the "Friend or family?" question that the leading candidates would be Locke, Ben or Sawyer. I don't think it's Sawyer because I think that's the "he" Kate referred to but Ben and Locke make sense being that Jack now realizes that they weren't meant to be rescued and the only person who'd want to go back to the island with him is dead. Ben or Locke both fit that profile.

So, Kate is preggers, right? I wonder if all of the male Others have seen the same film that Karl did?
