  1. Is Orton ever going to use The Play of The Day again? It was called something different in WWE but fuck it. I remember he managed to fuck his shoulder up doing it and never really did it again. I'm kinda hoping he busts it out against Taker in the Casket Match, as I can only assume that this is where they're going with the feud.
  2. We're over halfway through this decade so it's a not-terrible time to be discussing something like this. What shows from 2000-on got canned and deserved better? Now, I don't want to use the phrase "too smart for it's time" because that would imply that you need to be super-intelligent to get into this show. You don't. You do, however, need an open mind. For people who enjoy having everything spelled out for them- stay the fuck away. This is not one of those shows. You need to assume that things have happened before you watch it and that the actions of the past have affected what you're watching in the present. The show itself followed a group of carnival acts touring the southwestern United States during the 1940's or as the tag line on the back of the DVD set said "The last great age of magic". Magic is real as the sun and the air on this show, it's treated with religious reverence and is a very important factor. The story follows the carnival as it picks up a young man named Ben Hawkins just as Ben is burying his mother who has recently passed away. Ben has been blessed/cursed with "the gift" which, more or less pertains to his ability to heal people. But this gift comes with a price. Depending on the severity of what Ben needs to heal he must take life away from something around him. He takes a man whose arm he has (indirectly) broken into a lake and heals the arm. Everything seems fine until all the fish in the lake float to the surface, dead. The rest of the season focuses on Ben's relationship with the carnivals resident psychic, a blind man named Lodz who has a history of violence that not too many in the carnival know about. Lodz was a member of The Knights Templar and is acting on behalf of "Management", the mysterious figure who lives behind the curtain in the head office. Why is Management so interested? We'll probably never find out the whole story, sadly. I'd put the first season of this show on par with any debut season of any show this decade. The story is ridiculously rich, the characters are among the weirdest and most interesting I've ever seen and the entire thing plays out beautifully up the season finale which is (no offense meant to Lost) the greatest first season finale I've ever seen and probably ever will see. RIP Carnivale. Lament your losses here.
  3. Orton and Taker get the gold medal for best in-ring chemistry of the year.
  4. Long-haired Jin is fucking awesome.
  5. Well, you got some and that's the important thing.
  6. We watched "In Translation", "Numbers" and "Deus Ex Machina" at work tonight. Plus my new manager is a huge Lost fan and bought the DVD's the other day so he's all about us putting it on. Customers watch it and think they're viewing some fucked-up movie. It's great.
  7. I'm not sure if I can hold out until Wednesday.
  8. You'll need to slow the DVD down X4 but in the Hurley sequence in Exodus II the big guy is staying in room 2342.
  9. Somebody should count the amount of backdrops during Flair/Carlito.
  10. Man I miss Undershooter.
  11. I really don't see anybody shedding a tear if this was deleted, no offense meant to S__D but it's fluff at it's finest.
  12. A fan of MMA? Absolutely. My level as a fan of pro wrestling dies a little more on a weekly basis. Funny how we're in a situation we've all been talking about for a while now (competition/bad ratings forcing WWE to change) and I couldn't give a shit. I don't even like TNA and I plan on tuning in once or twice to check it out.
  13. Like I said before: We were here first. There's too much insight and relevancy in this thread to let it die. If the newbies can't deal with it, fuck 'em. The only way that this would work is if this thread was pinned and a new one started. Either way, this thread should not be going anywhere. I was thinking to myself today where the battle lines would be drawn if the Jack/Locke feud takes full bloom. This list was made earlier in the thread but maybe opinions have changed. I'm not including Jin, Michael, Sawyer or Walt because they aren't on the island at this point in time. The Good Shepherds Jack Kate Hurley Sun Shannon Team Lockedown John Charlie Claire X-Factor- Sayid. If the aforementioned four were on the island I'd probably put Michael and Jin with Jack and Sawyer and Walt with Locke.
  14. For reals. So we need to get this thread up and running again and I figure what better a way then to list the important stuff from last season? Big or small, list 'em all. I think that Claire was kinda slept on in Season One in terms of importance to the island. The dream she had with Locke and the black eye, the crib, her writing in her diary about The Black Rock before the rest of the group knew what it was......
  15. Watching the special features yesterday and the "Backstage with Driveshaft" segment, fucking hilarious that "You All Everybody" came from some crackhead woman on Phil Donahue.
  16. I find it funny that JR has been putting Angle over so hard lately. I guess they're convieniently forgetting the job to Michaels at Vengence.
  17. Just like you're judging Game on how he acts. Now, you may think Game sucks. That's fine. But to try and pretend that 100% of your dislike for him is based on him as an artist is bullshit. Was I judging The Kills 100% on their act? No. Would I rate them as good musicians, though? No. You are aware that when people use the term "hating" it's not meant to infer actual hatred, right? I'm being serious here because you can't seem to grasp that. No, you weren't saying that you hated Bloc Party but you seemed irked enough to mention that you wish they'd shed their mainstream image. It must suck for you, not being to look past that shit and all. Beefcake? Jesus, kiddo. I know your slang is out there but this one is pretty good. Stick to faggot and the like. Suits you more.
  18. Now Puder vs Taker. THAT is the battle we all need to see. During the buildup on UFC for Chuck vs Horn they showed pics of Taker w/ the WWE Title posing with Team Quest.
  19. I managed to point out reasons why The Kills suck earlier but that curiously gets ignored whereas my immediate bias against them is attacked. Bottom line: They sounded like shit. Their on stage antics certainly didn't endear me to them. They sucked. Did not impress at all. Can't really make it any clearer then that. Don't make the mistake of thinking that I don't know that artists like Game have an image to uphold. I do. That has nothing to do with why I like him. I'd like to know why Bloc Party trying to downplay their mainstream appeal should have anything to do with the music they play? I don't believe a band should be faulted for becoming popular amongst certain social circles but......but wait. You seem to be hating on Bloc Party for different (but fundamentally the same) reasons why I didn't like The Kills. You don't believe that they should appeal to the "American Eagle" set. And why? Because you don't like those people? Weak as fuck. You calling me a wannabe-elitist is a fucking joke. I don't wear American Eagle but it's cute that you think of me as a frat-boy.
  20. If they can't get into it after watching Hughes' comeback against Trigg during their second fight then they don't deserve to be a fan. I swear to God the pop for that slam was twice as loud as the crowd reaction when Chuck knocked Randy out.
  21. So, were those elbows legal or not? General consensus amongst other boards is that there should be a rematch due to the fact that Joe was using the point of the bone instead of the forearm.
  22. Nobody watches Vivid porn anymore when there are sites like BangBus, willshegag.com and many other wholesome enterprises.
  23. Mad respect for the Jeff Buckley at the end. Greg House is slowly climbing the list of my favorite characters on TV and I'd tear up that Jennifer Morrison gal.
