Blache's (14) defense actually ranked higher than Lovie's (16).

I blame the Record labels and the rappers for promoting stereotypical music, Record companies are going promote stereotypes and gimmicks and if you don't fall under those catergeories you won't get no kind of promotion. Its like you have to get shot, sold drugs, and serve time in jail as part of your bio to get put on in the industry. I think black rappers only live up to stereotypes because they're getting paid more money to do so and they are getting controlled by execs, White Rappers seemed to have more leeway when it comes to creative control and subject matter.

As much as I want to see bad singers and funny comments from the judges, I want to see the good singers or singers that the Judges would argue over, like Randy override Simon and Paula decision about the yodelling girl that was classic.

Outkast (just dre 3k probably) is performing at the NBA all-star game. Nelly is on there because the didn't give him alot of airtime the last time he performed at the SuperBowl. Im looking foward to Nelly, P.Diddy, and Murphy Lee to perform "Shake ya Tailfeather" Is that your ass or is your momma half reindeer?

I think that alone is probably what causes the rift between metal/rock and rap more then anything else. People who listen to metal/rock music generally tend to listen for the music involved in it. The guitars, the riffs, all that jazz. With rap, it's the exact opposite. The music is secondary to the lyrics. So obviously, you're going to have two very different fanbases. That's how I see it, anyway. True. There's a rift between fans who some just make blanket statements on what they see on tv, instead of doing research on the genres artists.

Dumbing down your lyrics is something that rappers admit about to make money. Jay Z even admits it in "Moment of Clarity" Jay-z also said after the Talib Kweli line. Jay-z: Truthfully I want to rhyme like Common Sense/but I did 5 mil/So I aint been rapping like Common Sense/If you have that in common in sense/you say fuck perception and go with what makes sense. And what he meant about it he just going with what works so if it aint broken don't fix it.

^ Mia X have anything happened to her? Mercedes is probably working at a strip club in N.O. Oh yeah, Master P filed for bankruptcy(sp) last month for the Old No Limit label.

You hit the nail on the head. The truly good rappers don't get the exposure if their subject matter isn't materialistic or they have anti-establishment messages in their songs. I hate when Nelly's, Chingy's, and the Sambo (Snoop) Dogg's get all the airplay when they don't deserve it, but radio can't give the Little Brother's, The Mos Def's, and Immortal Technique's any airplay because they don't fit the "image" of rap is supposed to be, and the latter I mentioned lyrics might go over the casual rap fans head. Some Mainstream Rappers I do like Outkast, Jay-Z, and DMX. There's a misconception with non rap fans who are Rock fans that argue "Pick u a Guitar" bullshit, some rappers DO PLAY INSTRUMENTS Wyclef plays guitar, Andre 3000 plays bass, Ghostface plays Piano, and The Roots is a rap band, yes a turntable is a instrument. Plus the fact that Rap isn't based on instruments its supposed based on Lyrics thats what seperates its self from Rock. I like to see a Rocker Freestyle without writing one verse. I also believe that Label execs controls a rappers content on subject matter, Label exec might hear Rapper A song and its a hit and then tells Rapper B that he should do a song like Rapper A has. When some rappers say they have to "dumb down" their lyrics so they can appeal to the suburbanites who go out by their albums, thats what they mean by that. Record execs could care less about who can or can't rap they just care about who sells. Also theres some racial undertones that the record labels only promote which some that I blame on rappers too.

Busta Rhymes also noted in the Leaders of the New School album "TIME" that "Rap is business music -- hip-hop is cultural music." And what has DJ Magic Mike done since Bass Bowl?... I haven't heard anything from Dj Magic Mike in a really long time. In Mainstream Rap its all product, Im appreciating Underground Rap even more now then ever. Hell, now rap battles are on Mtv hosted by Carson Daly WTF? Just tainted I tell ya.

Or go to a Lil Jon and Eastside Boyz or a Youngbloodz concert.

I've explained it before in here somewhere, Crunk is a Southern (now universal) slang for Party term to anything Party related. Crunk music is Party themed subject matter, Lil Jon says Crunk Rap is similar to Punk Rock, Crunk music consists of Heavy Bass beats, alot of Chanting, Call and Response, and Mosh Pit style dancing. I'd love to see the pit at a crunk show. I didn't know about that. KRS-One best describes the rap/hip hop debate. Here is what he said during an interview I found on theonion.com : Yeah, go to a club that'll play alot of Crunk music especially in the South where Crunk is huge, you'll see elbows flying, sholving, and foot stomping. KRS One is right thou Rap industry has become a product and not an artform. Rap is too tainted and saturated now by the labels execs and stylists.

I heard about this story before, I think its BULLSHIT!!!!!. Ten years for statutory rape? He should get probation at least. Well, if I ever visit Georgia I won't mess around with a white girl they might have a law against that too. Shit like this pisses me off, Dixon probably is going to have register as a sex offender. -

There's more to the old No Limit Curse: Mac (jail) C-Murder (jail) Mystikal (jail) Soulja Slim (murdered) Big Ed (Cancer) Kane & Abel (just got out of Jail) Snoop (lost will do anything for peanuts) Master P (rich & lost, no more albums) I could understand why Master P wanted to rebuild the NL roster. Mystikal was a ok rapper especially when he was with No Limit but after he left he sucked. Silk Da Shocker is next in line for NL Curse.

http://abcnews.go.com/wire/US/ap20040106_2055.html NYC to Pay $3M to Amadou Diallo's Family NYC Paying $3M to Family of Amadou Diallo, African Killed After Being Shot at 41 Times by Police The Associated Press NEW YORK Jan. 6 — The city will pay $3 million to the family of Amadou Diallo, the unarmed West African immigrant killed by undercover police in a hail of 41 bullets outside his home five years ago. "The mayor, the police department and the city deeply regret what occurred and extend their sympathies to the Diallo family," Michael Cardozo, the city's chief lawyer, said Tuesday in announcing the settlement. Diallo was shot to death in the vestibule of his Bronx apartment building on Feb. 4, 1999, by four white officers who said they mistook his wallet for a gun. The officers said they wanted to talk to Diallo because he fit the description of a rape suspect they were seeking. The officers fired 41 shots, hitting the street vendor from Guinea 19 times and making the killing an international symbol of police brutality. The death also heightened racial tensions in New York and sparked massive protests. Diallo's parents, Saikou and Kadiatou, had sought $81 million in their negligence lawsuit. At a press conference Tuesday, Diallo's mother called the settlement "one step (toward) the end of closure." "We will continue to fight for justice and the legacy of Amadou," his father said. They said the money will go to a foundation they established and to pay for college for their three children. "It shows the city and the Bloomberg administration, unlike the prior administration, wanted to make amends," said Anthony Gair, a lawyer for the family. The officers were acquitted of state criminal charges in a February 2000 trial. The Justice Department decided not to bring federal civil rights charges against the officers. Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who was elected after the shooting, said he was pleased that an agreement had been reached. "This is not a substitute for human life," he said. "But it was a chapter out of our history and I'm just glad that we were able to come to a financial settlement with the family and let's get on with it." Two of the officers from the shooting remain on the force and two are now firefighters. James Culleton, attorney for former Officer Richard Murphy, said he hoped the settlement "will put all this to rest and everyone can move on with their lives." Officer Kenneth Boss, who is on desk duty with no shield or gun, is suing the department for full reinstatement, said his attorney, Steven Brounstein. "This was a tragic mistake, and a mistake is not a criminal act," Brounstein said. "Hopefully an incident like this will not happen again," said Stephen Worth, attorney for former Officer Edward McMellon. Well its a nice gesture, but it won't bring a life back.

I got this from www.Mtv.com B2K fans have a new reason to scream over their favorite group, but unfortunately it's not in jubilation — they're yelling in angst. For the past few days radio stations have been saying the foursome has split. Could it be that the "B" in B2K can now stand for "broken," as in the hearts of girls across the country, because Omarion, J-Boog, Raz-B and Lil Fizz are breaking up? Here's where you need Columbo or maybe just a good lawyer to figure things out. On Monday morning (January 5), longtime B2K manager Chris Stokes released a statement saying that the act he was instrumental in putting together had disbanded because of something B2K's rabid following would deem unfathomable: the seemingly tight-knit collective had fallen victim to inner turmoil. "We've had a great run together making hit songs, albums and now movies," Stokes said in the statement. "The kids are growing up and are interested in pursing their own careers. I have enormous respect for each of them, and I wish them success in their pursuit of their individual careers. B2K was an extremely talented singing group that will surely be missed." Stokes also said he would continue to guide the career of the group's lead singer, Omarion. Here's where the situation gets sketchy. Pictures have surfaced of the remaining B2K members at a contract signing over the weekend with the sports and entertainment company CMX. Cozying up at a table together, the three don't look like they're ready to split from each other anytime soon. Late Monday evening, CMX chairman Antonio Demetrius Brown said he's now helping to guide the trio and that they'll continue on as a group. Whether they'll continue to operate under the B2K moniker is still being negotiated. "They see the light," Brown said of the three. "They've been cleansed. It's a rebirth." Brown also promised B2K fans will have plenty of reasons to rejoice soon. A spokesperson for their label, Epic, had no comment. (What do you think of the possibility of a B2K breakup? You Tell Us.) B2K as we've known them for the past few years had the strongest following of any male R&B group in the market (see "Ice, Screaming Girls And Naps: A Day In The Life Of B2K"). Their movie "You Got Served" hits theaters at the end of this month, they released the film's soundtrack shortly before Christmas, and they had scheduled auditions for their next music video later this week. In the middle of a short tour, the quartet postponed its remaining dates on the eve of Friday's show at New York's Beacon Theater, claiming an injured Omarion as the reason. With O's health on the upswing, the four remaining dates have been rescheduled to start back up again February 6 in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. All four members of B2K are committed for the shows. Prior to Stokes' announcement, the foursome revealed plans for solo projects from Omarion and Lil Fizz later this year. In light of the recent developments, however, it isn't looking too good for the planned B2K/Bow Wow joint venture (see "B2K, Bow Wow So Far From Beef They're Planning Joint LP"). —Shaheem Reid Eventhough im not a fan but urban radio stations was making a big deal about it, Stokes was probably saying all that because they didn't want him as their manager.
