http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2324836 Whisenhunt and bobby Petrino turned down the Raiders. I'm very happy for the steelers, this bodes well for our success next year, as Whisenhunt has done a great job with the offense. Not as happy for UPitt because Petrino is what makes Louisville so good. Art Shell probably going to be the coach of the raiders again.

Larry Brown hates young kids. Why do you think he hasn't coached college in forever. I don't think he likes to teach the fundamentals at this stage. He prefers veterans who understand the game at a high level and all he has to do is sit back and do some scheming and keep them all on the same page. Look at how poorly he managed the olympic team.
-
Do you think they'll use al michaels for Arena League Imagine Al Michaels and John Madden announcing the Arena Bowl less than a year after doing the super bowl,
-
The other potentially good news about this situation, is Al Michaels w/ NBC SHOULD mean Al michaels doing the Olympics. i wonder if his contract will start in time for him to do the Olympic hockey That's something else to look forward too

I love Tirico, I love Kornheiser. I hate Theisman. couldn't they have put Steve Young in there. I'd love that Tirico, Young, Kornheiser. That would be some great fun, I'd enjoy them more than the game. ESPN certainly has better football guys than Theisman

Is there something he did to earn your bias?

Lei Tong is awesome, he's so objective and balanced with his analysis, I know almost none of the people he's talking about, but when I read what he posts it just makes me feel more knowledgeable about MMA SO basically Monson normally just stalls like a big mofo (Using his strength to hold the other guy and get a cheap decision) it was not normal for him to finish as impressively as at 57 (that's what I'm gathering from Lei Tong)
-
Monson is the scariest mma guy i've see yet. He just seems like he's strong as fuck, and smart. I'm not knowledgable about his ability to strike, but he seems like the type of guy that could out-grapple anyone that's anywhere near his size, and he looks tough enough to take a few hits in the process.

that's not true. The first two segments were Ben Roethlisberger and then the Bettis one, then a dual segment with Ben and Hasselbeck, then one with A bunbch of players including the two coaches with big parts (which had a pretty big focus on Holmgren as I recall) Then we got the solo shot of Hasselbeck, then the ben/hasselbeck one again. I'm surprised they didn't play the jerome one constantly. It was slightly steeler biased with the opening spots, but in the end it was pretty balanced. I was paying attention to those commercials, as I kinda liked them

Why does everyone like RVD so much? I'm not trying to be facetious and/or a troll, I just don't see anything interesting or impressive about him. I see a lot of spinning/flying roundhouse and back kicks and wheel kicks...and not much else. I mean, I don't want himt o get jobbed out by HHH...but at the same time I'd prefer Carlito to beat yhim because Carlito is entertaining to me and I enjoy his matches (rip me all you want, but I think he has an excellent grasp of pacing, and his selling/facial expressions are terrific. A face run would do worlds for his actual 'wrestling') Just an opinion, and curious as to the extreme interest in RVD (A note: I was not watching wrestling during ECW, so I have no real exposure/attachment to the residual performers from that product, and that seems to be where a lot of this comes from) Thanks for not flaming me in advance
-
Really enjoyed that tag match. My fiance and I got a huge kick out of Carlito's attempted dive at Big Show on the outside, it was hilarious just the idea of him trying to use his body weight to take him out, we rewatched it like 10 times. Very fun match, well booked and well executed imho.

so what's up with Pat Riley: Jason Kapono played the last 15 minutes of the heat vs. phoenix game...a game they were competitive in (Though you never really felt they were going to win) He played 24 minutes total, right around the same amount as Antoine Walker. That just seems weird, all season he's barely played at all, now he's their leading bench minute guy for that game. He's supposed to be a decent shooter but hasn't shown it much...has he developed a good on-ball defensive game that I don't know about, or was it just for the phoenix game to have a guy in good condition who could run with the suns?
-
Maybe they're gonna try and turn him around to a contender for an expiring contract to free up even more room. Although I'd imagine Boston really wants to wait till the summer of 07 for FA's like Bosh to be potentially available.

Oh I'm aware that a lot of teams do it...but rarely are they this public about saying "The head coach isn't gonna be calling any plays". I just think the time is coming where the o-coord and d-coord are basically autonomous from the head coach. Cowher is a really big special teams guy, and i know he's very hands-on with those guys, so he probably just wanted another voice to agree with his crazy ideas on onsides kicks :P

Indiana seems to think they can get some type of major contribution out of peja...as why would you make this deal if you can't sign him longterm (they probably came to some type of an understanding with Peja beforehand) and if you're gonna sign him longterm, that means you feel he fits into their scheme. Can Carlisle get him to play some type of defense...can Peja even PLAY defense?!?! Honestly i think Brad Miller would have helped Indiana out WAY more than Peja, but maybe they really feel he's going to thrive in their system. I doubt Sac wanted to get rid of Miller anyhow. the Kings could become really good, really fast with Artest's energy as long as Garcia and Kevin Martin can continue to play/shoot well. Instant defensive improvement. I really question this from Indiana's perspective (I'm sure they preferred the idea of getting Corey Maggette and are if possible more upset about his injury than the clippers right now)...maybe they're going trade Peja for a different piece/draft picks?
-
That'd be sweet. Then again, not only did they play sixty minutes, they didn't have 15-30 minute half-times and 3 minute breaks every 3-8 minutes during play to catch their breath. That's the best part about playing a game of pick-up football with your friends, it feels like the real game, you're just outright bustin your balls for an hour or two

That's funny, I posted the exact same thing without ever reading this thread. It's bound to happen!

With Washington announcing that Al saunders will be calling the offensive plays, and Gregg Williams already in charge of their defense...the head coach on that team really doesn't call ANY plays during the game. And when you look at a lot of NFL teams...this seems to be a common occurence. At what point does the head coach really just become a team manager/boss to the coordinators. The game has become so complex that it's almost impossible for someone to manage all the players, physically coach them, AND gameplan/analyze other teams for the purpose of playcalling. In a way I'm impressed with Washington's approach at paying two top-flight coordinators the big bucks to do their job, and having a head coach to basically manage them. I'd say that's a very smart way to do things (and at least one positive approach that Dan Snyder may have brought to the NFL)

The two weeks off might help willie parker more than any single player on either team. He does look tired, but I think he can be a factor with two weeks to get his legs under him.

How huge of a story would it be if Hingis wins the Australian Open? She's always been my favorite women's tennis player, for years I liked her style of play (relying on solid groundstrokes instead of the big serve)...and there's the fact she's extraordinarily attractive. I'm glad to see she's back and doing well...but I honestly didn't expect her to do this well this soon.
-
See that's realistic. I was only referring to CW specifically, because he didn't seem to admit any fault/problems with the team. You actually admit there are potential pitfalls while still maintaining hope that it could all end up good.

You're way too much of a homer to ever look at this from an objective and/or even negative standpoint. You're just like all the homerStillers fans that permeate this city that can never see any wrong with their home team. You've not acknowledged a SINGLE mistake of his, a single negative to this team, everything you said was positive...you have an 'answer' to every issue...and you know if you looked at it from the outside you'd realize that team is a mess. Do you -honestly- feel the Knicks will contend for the championship within the next 5 years?

Carolina would be the underdog...which upsets me as a Steeler fan, because I'd prefer them to be the underdog. We're already getting way too much credit from the press going into Denver...It's not good for us as a team, we always do better when we're 'under the radar'. At least we can't possibly play a home game, though it might be bad karma that Bettis is from Detroit if we make it there. Still I too am predicting Carolina and Pittsburgh...And I think Pittsburgh is the stronger of those two teams, but of all the other playoff teams their defense scares me the most. I HOPE Seattle wins as I feel the Steelers would match up far better against their team.
