  1. I'm in as "Better Than Nick".
  2. Until what point can we add/subtract keepers? Just for clarification.
  3. You know, Bored should really make a case for Stanford. They were blown out by San Jose State and NAVY in consecutive weeks. Fucking Navy doesn't even have a quarterback. EDIT: I need sleep. 35-34 SJSU two Saturdays ago.
  4. Yes, but how many people does that entail? Every week it's a different poster and him getting into it and derailing a college football thread. So it came down to keeping the status quo or putting an end to his misery. EDIT: Not that I'm defending his banning right now. It's just too oddly placed.
  5. Naw, run defense has always been their forte, so Johnson will just get his yards and nothing more. If anything, the stigma of how they usually play in Boise will have the most impact should they lose.
  6. It happens every week, without fail. He's been here over four years. They also locked the college football thread from last week, because of Dama's trolling.
  7. Penn State will be raped by Ohio State this weekend. No need for analysis. I may open myself up to name-calling about being a homer, but I wouldn't be surprised if Hawai'i took down Boise this weekend. This is if last year's result (44-41 Boise) is any indication of how they really stacked up beforehand. Hawai'i is better defensively in every facet, and Colt Brennan is one year older. People are heralding Boise's defense right now (top-5 in the country, yet it was against Sacramento State, Oregon State and Wyoming), as if this will stand after Hawai'i comes through. Another shootout is inevitable, and I don't think Zabransky has enough help on offense to do it.
  8. Quick correction: we only have one bowl now. And really, a SEC or ACC team in Hawai'i? It won't be much of a difference as it is now with Conference USA. Unless it's a conference powerhouse, which I doubt will slip down to the Hawai'i Bowl, they're not going to travel well. And anyway, they finally squared it down to "WAC #2 vs Pac-10 #5", which I'm fine with, but with Pac-10 #3/4 being split between the SF and Vegas bowls, they need to leapfrog them with something. You'd think the location was enough to draw the attention of teams here.
  9. I'm in. After a bit of debate, I'm also putting my third keeper tag on Raymond Felton.

Damn being out of town last weekend. I wish I'd seen that In Deadspin's archive...

    NFL Week 2

The few ones I disagree with are... Bears (worse; a contender at best) Seahawks (better) Eagles (worse) Rams (worse; certainly not better than the Cowboys, Skins, Ravens) Falcons (worse) Texans (worse) And again, if that's a ranking, the 49ers are not the worst team in the league. There are teams that are 2-3 years away from even climbing out of the cellar -- the 49ers could be a 7-9/8-8 team next season. They ridded themselves out of a whole bunch of useless players and are now plugging up the holes.

    NFL Week 2

And if they lose this week? Not to pile it on, but I have more hope in the Cardinals and 49ers, with the benefit of their schedules, to accomplish something this year than I do the Pack. And honestly, the Cardinals are better than the Packers overall.
  15. bizzy bone 4 prez People are not calling Bizzy Bone, the GOAT. Jay-Z is closer to the GOAT title than Bizzy is to competence.
  16. It's pot. He's not main-lining heroin, nor will the WWE ask him to go to rehab anytime soon. And unless I'm mistaken, he's been fined more times than any other wrestler in the company for different violations that are simply minor offenses. Either you fire him, which is stupid, or you keep him for free. Well, I guess suspensions and fines are not enough. Possibly taking away his favorite stuffed animal might send a signal?
  17. --Braves because of the national exposure. --Bulls because of Michael Jordan from 1988 on. --49ers because I'm from Hawai'i. The one team I see myself quickly drifting apart from are the Braves. I've always followed the Giants and Angels with the same fervor that I did the Braves, again because of geography, and with the TBS deal falling apart, I don't see how they're going to be too accesible to me. The other two teams will be featured on FSN every night, while after Chipper and Smoltz' retirement, I'll have no reason to ever watch a game of the Braves again.

    TWiB 9/4 - 9/10

I could see a case made for Pujols regardless of whether the Phillies make the playoffs, but Howard's case is definitely helped by a postseason berth. Projected stats to finish the season (courtesy ESPN): Howard: .311/.406/.679, 592 AB, 184 H, 65 HR, 159 RBI (currently at 156 K, 80 BB) Pujols: .322/.423/.676, 536 AB, 172 H, 52 HR, 137 RBI (currently at 40 K, 78 BB)

I love no-nos. But, Sanchez giving up 4 walks is a bit too much for me to laud it as a great accomplishment. It's also four walks away from a perfect game. To me, I'm amazed at any game that's a two-hitter or below. Anyone remember watching their first no-hitter? I thought about it today and after a bit of research on dates, it was Chris Bosio in April 1993. They played the final inning live on SportsCenter that night, and Bosio's celebration is about all I can remember.

  21. I'm assuming that nothing I can type here can overshadow those last two posts. This thread just became erotic and educational at the same time.
  22. Or I couldn't keep up with tracking scores for 50 different people per week and posting them before ten people PM'ed me about it. Either one works.
  23. ". . . Americans, who couldn't overcome their 32 percent shooting from 3-point range or 59 percent from the foul line." It isn't spot-up shooting. It's guys like Carmelo chucking it on the second touch with defenders in their face from twenty-five feet away without setting their feet. If you watched the Germany and Greece game, this was prevalent. "The Americans were 2-of-10 from behind the arc -- after going 10-for-40 in their quarterfinal victory over Germany" When Howard, Bosh, Brand and Battier got into the game, the pace slowed down and they started to wear down Germany. In the fourth quarter of that game, the Germans were spent physically and you could see it on their faces.
  24. I think it's funny that people trace the problem back to shooting. The team shot over 60% from the field and still lost. Maybe the problem isn't shooters? Instead of winding down the other team with our bigs, we chose to run the floor and have Carmelo shoot jumpshots all night. That boils down to adjustments, and thus the loss falls on the coach. If I'm letting a lead slip away, I'm not letting Carmelo, Wade and Lebron on the court at the same time. All three are still liabilities on the defensive end, and I would've subbed two to get two bigs and keep a scorer on the court. RE: Role players. We are too good to have two Shane Battiers on the court.
  25. None of the 4's or 5's got more than THIREEN MINUTES?
