  1. Four teams to go... #7 Boise State (Rob E Dangerously) Oregon (nogoodnick) Michigan State (lomasmoney) Georgia (Big_Jay101)
  2. I doubt the WWE wants to alienate a good portion of their loyal Australian fans by pretending a match didn't happen.

    NFL Flops

Both teams have DOMINANT defenses. I'd bet my life on both teams making to the postseason just on that fact alone (unless injuries take out a good core of players). Yes, it's the underachieving Saints. Same team as last year, but what makes it different is that Haslett has another year of experience to completely ignore using his offense to its full potential, while everyone not named Deuce limps into December. I have yet to see how the Buccaneers are rebuilding. Despite tailing off in production, they let go of a defensive tackle in Sapp who drew double-teams all season long and a safety in Lynch who scared any receiver from coming over the middle, while not making any significant moves to shore up these losses. As for the Falcons, the key word is a healthy Vick. Even so, they still have a terrible run-stopping line in addition to a secondary that couldn't contain a high-school team. They'd be lucky to break .500. The 49ers came within a bonehead play of sweeping the Rams last year (27-24 OT loss in Week 2, 30-10 win in Week 9), while the Cardinals fell in OT to St. Louis in Week 12. Seven of the Rams' regular season games last year were decided by 6 points or less, with SIX of those seven games seeing the Rams victorious. With Martz now placing all of his chips on a new "Power T" formation headed by Stephen Jackson, he's destined to screw it up. He doesn't have the slightest clue on what to actually do with his running backs, so until he leaves the playcalling to his co-ordinators, expect another disappointing season by the overachieving Rams.
  6. I thought that a third offense was just a four-game suspension?
  7. But didn't you forget that, two weeks before Wrestlemania XIV, Vince said that Austin would make a horrible champion? From CRZ's recap of the March 30th, 1998 edition of RAW...
  8. All of the video tributes that I can remember, since the "My Sacrifice" videos started popping up... Steve Austin - My Sacrifice - Creed Edge - My Sacrifice - Creed Undertaker - My Sacrifice - Creed The Rock - Alive - P.O.D. The WWF (November 2001) - My Sacrifice - Creed Triple H (January 2002) - Beautiful Day - U2 Ric Flair (January 2002) - Cocky - Kid Rock The History of the WWF (January 2002) - Lonely Road of Faith - Kid Rock The WWE (June 2002) - Weathered - Creed Undertaker (October 2002) - Adrenaline - Gavin Rossdale Chris Jericho (November 2002) - King of My World - Saliva The Rock (March 2003) - Come With Me - P. 9. Anyone have an explanation for the music credits at the bottom of the new screens? My answer is narrowed to either the game's new in-ring soundtrack, or the ability to utilize the hard-drive for various purposes.
  10. Say hello to Playboy's Miss October 2004...Cara from RR South Pacific.
  11. A friggin' squirrel interrupting the Yankees/Indians game on ESPN.
  12. Willie = Hector from Ghostwriter. I marked when I read about that on the DVDVR board.
  13. Rebuttal: JBL delivers the goods? Care to name them? I know his matches with Guerrero were praised, but as far as I can tell, JBL hasn't delivered any classic matches in his HISTORY with WWE, which is what? Eight years? He does every thing right for a heel. His promos are so over-the-top they're hilarious, the gimmick he's using can draw universal heat from anywhere in the United States, and the match he works is perfect for a big agile heel. Name them.
  14. Out of curiousity, what matches? 1. RAW - World title match with HBK, November 2002. 2. RAW - No. 1 contendership for HBK's title, December 2002. (with Michaels as the guest referee) 3. RAW - World title match with HHH, June 2003. 4. Any match with Brock. 5. Summerslam 2003 - Kane/RVD. The first three matches meant more, while in the latter two's case, he could've latched on to his opponent and snuck into that spot.
  15. Why is it that when RVD has been booked to lose in an important match in his WWE career, he seems to just completely dog it, bringing down the quality of the match tenfold? I think that just may be the reason why he was never pushed beyond those few matches in 2002 (with Brock, HHH and HBK) and 2003 with Kane. In 2001, the WWF had way too many wrestlers at the top of the card. At any given event, you could see 6 legitimate main-eventers. Hence, the brand split. It might've been worse for business to branch out in this method, but it created a few more spots for upper-midcarders to assume. When it came time for him to re-create himself and move into the main event, he decided to go in the opposite direction: he stuck with the same moveset, eliminated any type of psychology from his match with his offense consisting solely of kicks, made his opponents look stupid if they didn't focus on his lower body, then proceeded to no-sell ALL of that with his tired offense.
  16. On an equally outrageous note, there was a Olympic TRAMPOLINE Competition after the team competitions last week. Gymnasts on TRAMPOLINES, people.

    RAW RATING

Various news, with all credit going to Da Meltz... --WWE greatly exceeded analysts expectations with a $7.8 million profit in the first quarter (May through July), although revenues were lower than anticipated. The predictions were $91 million in revenue and a $4.2 million profit. Total revenue was $81.6 million. Home videos and licensing (which includes first month sales of the Flair book) in particular were strong. --For the week of 8/9 to 8/15, the Smackdown show (the one that did the 2.6 rating) finished No. 12 for the week in the category of sports shows on network television. It trailed seven Olympics sessions, the Hall of Fame football game, both the Saturday and Sunday PGA championships coverage and FOX's Saturday baseball package. This past Thursday's show, at 3.1, was No. 46 for the week in the prime time network ratings, which is one of the highest ranking finishes the show has ever done, even with the lower than average number. --Smackdown will be delayed in Detroit the next two weeks. This coming Thursday's scheduled show will air on Sunday at 2 p.m. No time slot has been announced for the 9/2 show yet. (thanks to Stephen Gray)
  18. Yes, and you can also add Kerry Von Erich to that list. Meltzer named one other wrestler from the early part of the 20th century, but I'm blanking on the guy's name, as well as the day that he posted the news update with these facts.
  19. Edited to be suitable for use in this thread.
  20. ....umm, it's a discussion board. Hence, we're discussing whether the original sentiments are unfounded or not.
  21. Foley half-heartedly explained that he basically "dared" Rock to keep hitting him with the chair. To make a bit of continuity, Mick mentioned an instance where Al Snow was knocked unconscious by a chair on a RAW show one week, yet stood standing and dared Road Dogg to keep hitting him. At the Rumble, it was of the same instance: Mick had never taken an chair shot without absorbing the blow with his body (he was handcuffed), so he was legitimately knocked out after the second (?) chairshot. The only part that really irked Foley, was that Rock didn't visit him in the locker room after the match.
  22. Wells could still be moved for another frontcourt prescence. ESPN rumored that it'd be Curry in Chicago, packaging Swift (restricted FA) in the trade, but there's still a few more teams out there that have shown interest in Bonzi. Memphis trading Williams would open the door for Stromille and Bonzi being moved.
  23. EDIT: Nevermind. Every site I had "google'd" had his birthyear at 1972 - turns out every reputable site had it at 1971.
  24. But on my local CBS news, there were highlights of the Men's basketball game that ended a few hours prior. I'd assume local affiliates have no restrictions on airing the footage. Here's what I dug up upon further research...
