To lengthen the build-up between No Way Out and Wrestlemania. Yes. Off the top of my head, I can cite Wrestlemania V and VIII as past examples.

First of all, Huard wasn't expecting anyone to knock him down, simply because he has the red/yellow jersey on, so any type of tackle by the defense would've knocked the wind out of him. Judging by how the game had played out up to that point, Lesnar wanted to make a statement. The Chiefs knew of Lesnar's quest to get this far, as would any other NFL team, so they decided to make an example out of him. Don't try to make this a "holier than thou" argument where you cast your finger onto Lesnar - simply put, don't take this for more than what is is: THIRD-STRING PLAYERS playing football. Second of all, it's Damon Huard - the Chiefs basically scratched their heads and said "Whatever" when Lesnar sacked him. That shows how important Damon Huard is to their cause. IIRC, Trent Green took over 95% percent of the snaps last year anyway, so this would all be forgotten about by tomorrow had it not been "professional wrestler" Brock Lesnar who made the tackle. Let me repeat this again: THIRD-STRING PLAYERS. Anything that stands out to the coaches is a good thing.

I LOVE the idea of Stojakovic as a Bull, but the prospect of giving up Heinrich sours me on it. The Kings MAY need a post prescence, if you've been paying attention to the hub-bub in the offseason. Besides, Webber alienated both Divac and Stojakovic with his comments late in the season, which doesn't give Sacramento a lot of leverage if it means Stojakovic will dog it for the early part of the season. Though, if Stojakovic only makes $6.8 million this season, I doubt we can offer anything more than Curry to make the contracts match. Portland will attempt to offer Rahim, but that means Stojakovic AND Christie for Rahim, which the Kings don't plan on doing.

Where's the relation between making Orton the champion and sticking it to Lesnar?

Unforgiven, the RAW PPV preceding it, is four weeks before Taboo Tuesday (September 12th). Survivor Series, the co-PPV proceeding it, is four weeks after Taboo Tuesday (November 14th). I don't see your point. I think he means No Mercy being 9 days prior to Taboo Tuesday But it worked with Great American Bash being so close to Vengeance, didn't it? Each show usually has its own set of fans - I highly doubt a grace period of nine days will tune a prospective buyer off. It is the card and build-up that sells the show, and nothing else.

Mostly. Bossman went through the "Heenan Family" stable (i.e. Haku and Barbarian) to get to Hennig at Wrestlemania. On the "WWF Funniest Moments" VHS, it houses the segment with the blowoff to the Bossman/Heenan feud, a confrontation which ended in Heenan getting the ball-and-chain driven into his stomach repeated times.

Someone mentioned the PPV schedule is that No Mercy is a Smackdown PPV. I'm not sure if it's right, but I'm too lazy to check WWE.com Unforgiven - RAW No Mercy - SD "Taboo Tuesday" - RAW I had hoped that the pay-per-view would be named Rebellion, in place of the now-defunct UK show, so a big "ehhh" to this...

There is severance - they're paying the next 90 days of his contract, so that Sakoda honors the clause of the contract. With the difference between "WWE jobber" money and "TNA jobber" money, I think I'd be happy sitting on my ass at home picking up checks for three months.

Offered a job at Miami of Ohio, so I left my cushy position at Hawaii to rebuild their program. 'Tis fun.

Well...it is a three-hour DVD, where WWEHV sacrificed compression quality to satisfy more consumers with additional content. This minor flaw is evident on a few DVD's where there are entrances with distinct flashes and strobes (Triple H's entrance(s) at Wrestlemania XVI and XX). Depending on the amount of SVCDs Wrestlemania XX is broken up into, the compression quality on your copy should remain pretty strong.

I'm on my lunch break, so I'll post the entire article at 3:30 PST (need to re-download Mozilla or Firefox). The article is about 10 NBA teams that rebuilt or improved their teams over the offseason. Covered are the Grizzlies, Mavericks, Knicks (I'll post it, CW ), Nets, Hawks, Rockets, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Hornets and Sonics (I'll post it, Rant ).

Does Hawaii count?

From an ESPN.com Insider article... If anyone wants the rest of the article, PM me, because I doubt I can post the entire article here (has to be entirely re-typed, due to ESPN.com eliminating the C&P option from Insider pages, which is pretty slick).

Ric Flair is excused from house shows to continue promotion on his book (this weekend, he's overseas, I believe.) ...and hasn't Matt decided on getting the MCL surgery yet? I don't recall him being in the battle royal last Monday.

Ortiz, Hampton and Jaret Wright had a combined 14-0 record in July. Look out, NLCS, here we come!
-
The wording of his announcement makes it seem that he's either writing for another website, or making the rants blog-exclusive. My bets are on the former.

Judging by the fact that you already own Hot Pursuit, I'd recommend Need For Speed: Undergound. You WILL get hooked on it.

I made a mistake in my earlier post, stating that Paxson "seems" to be fed up. To correct my post, that should be changed to "seemed". He changed his stance on Curry because the Bulls lost the lottery - if they had the opportunity to select Okafor, they would’ve moved either Curry or Chandler after the draft. This was their plan to throw a deal out at Boston (Pierce) or Seattle (Allen). Paxson had a change of heart and re-juggled the team to put the offensive focus around Curry. They’ve put their eggs into Curry’s basket for this upcoming season. If he blows the opportunity to become a solid NBA’er this upcoming season, Paxson will consider moving him again. Agreed.
-
Doh. I'd assumed that Unforgiven would be a Smackdown PPV, and elected to make my plane ticket to Portland on the 23rd. Hmm...maybe I can still change it...or postpone the PPV...either way, I guess.

Paxson seems to be fed up with both of the "Baby Bulls" - both Chandler and Curry were used as potential trade bait earlier in the summer. The Bulls were discussing taking on a big contract (Allen, Pierce or Kidd) in return for taking a few of their longer contracts off the books. That's the trade that the Bulls ultimately desire, but the Knicks are stubborn on keeping Harrington, who the Bulls want along with Mutombo and Shandon Anderson (Mutombo and Harrington's contracts expire after the 2004-2005 season). Besides, the Crawford deal won't go down unless the offers for 'Toine and/or Dampier fall through for the Knicks. The Bulls will retain Crawford's contract until next year, with a new crop of teams with cap space (Jersey, for one) Their projected depth chart looks like this: PG: Heinrich, Duhon, Pargo SG: Gordon, Crawford, Johnson SF: Deng, Robinson, Jefferies, Pippen PF: Chandler, Williams C: Curry, Davis, Shirley -------------------------------------- If the trade for Crawford goes though; PG: Heinrich, Duhon, Pargo SG: Gordon, Anderson, Johnson SF: Deng, Harrington, Jefferies, Pippen PF: Chandler, Davis C: Curry, Mutombo, Shirley The contracts of JYD and Robinson are out the window (3/$18 mil and 2/$14 mil, respectively), along with shedding Harrington and Mutombo's contracts after the season concludes. Pargo and Shirley's contracts being both non-guaranteed, as well as the rumors of Pippen hinting at retirement, have us with cap room ourselves heading into next year's offseason.

Will Detroit EVER make the postseason? I'm demanding a trade at the next possible opportunity.
-
From early reports on the Mets dealing with Pirates, they refused to deal Wigginton. I wonder what persuaded them to change their stance, unless they were just blowing smoke...
-
If the Nets unload Kidd before the start of the season, they'll have Jazz-esque cap space next season. I'd make the trade, especially considering Kidd's market value and the salaries they could dump after next year with those additions (for Chicago, it'd be Crawford, Williams, Davis and Robinson).
