What happened here? What's the deal with the slow board activity?
-
Has anyone had more finishing moves than the Big Show? It seems like he's trying to get a new one over every few months.

As for the Raw issue, I wonder if they'd cancel the Raw house show that Sunday and tape Raw that night instead? As for the submission PPV, the only name that sounds remotely decent is Breaking Point (But that sounds too much like a TNA PPV name). It'd be cool if they moved to the smaller building and promoted an old school night where none of the arena is marked off for the Raw set and wrestlers came out from behind a curtain and made their way through the crowd to get to the ring. It would solve the seating issue and I'd be interested in seeing it.

The Miz/Cena thing reminds me of Jericho/Goldberg from 1998.

If I absolutely have to fill the arena, I want Jake Roberts cutting the promo. Paul Heyman's pretty damn good on the stick and I loved Kurt Angle's mic work during the Austin feud.

What if Edge never fucked Lita? Does he make the main event if that never happened?

Holy shit, Dragon can still work -
It's such bullshit that the ravishing one isn't in the HOF yet. And I think you might be selling him short by calling him a mid-level guy. I know he never won the World Championship (they didn't pimp it out as much as they do now), but I considered him to be one of the company's main draws. Is Vince still pissed over Rude leaving the WWF and showing up on Nitro live while being part of the taped edition of RAW? And Tully and Double A have to go in together if they're ever inducted

Modern day scripting of wrestling vs. the old days of doing promos

Jake Roberts would have laughed his ass off if some Hollywood writer handed him a scripted promo. -

Modern day scripting of wrestling vs. the old days of doing promos

Workers coming up with their own stuff used to happen. The process of the writers scripting out things word for word has now taken over. Some workers, Jericho and Michaels, for instance, have far more leeway in scripting their promos than others. The major/critical problem about totally scripting a promo or even a match (This was discussed when the TNA script was leaked and the matches were written out, move for move) is that it doesn't allow for the talent to improvise if the crowd doesn't react positively. If the audience starts to crap on a segment and the worker can't improv his way out of it, he'll either panic or continue to give a promo/segment that is already bombing. That's why no one under 40 can cut a money promo. -

Every match has a producer listed. That person probably goes over the spots and finish face-to-face. -
I'm sure this has been brought up a few times, but would Edge have ever been a maineventer if he never fucked Lita?

Please, let this end in an RKO and acceptance.

Wow. I didn't realize they'd done shows in the dome that many times. I was at that July 2001 Raw. I remember marking my ass off when DDP hit the diamond cutter on Sara...only to mark even harder later when RVD and Dreamer hit the ring to stomp the shit out of Kane and Jericho. I was also there the night that Stone Cold went home because they wanted him to job to Lesnar. Was that in 2002? Anyway, I'd love for them to do Mania in Atlanta. That's about the only city they could do it that would be within reasonable driving distance for me. -

I remember watching Wrestlemania XVI/2000 and being 100% sure Wrestlemania XVII was going to be in Atlanta as the final middle finger to Turner and WCW. I thought WCW had some sort of exclusive deal with the Georgia Dome at the time, but I'm not sure. WWE and WCW often locked up their "home arenas" so that the other couldn't run shows there. Examples are WWE exclusively using MSG in New York and Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh. WWE's been running Georgia Dome shows since 99, though, so whatever deal WCW had was pretty much done by the time they went under. WWE runs their Atlanta stuff out of Phillips Arena. I can't remember them doing a show in the dome. -

I think Jericho has one last chance at becoming a legit, full-time main eventer if they correctly book his reversion back to Y2J. I think a slow build back to that character has a chance of getting over big. They have to go with his current character a while longer to make the Y2J character seem fresh again and meaningful when he goes back to it, though. -

It's obvious now that the Cena rumor was bullshit, but the dude came back from a major injury in just 4 months. He might not be on steroids, but I'll bet he's done plenty of HGH to speed up the healing process. And I also think Edge sucks big time. For some reason I still have trouble accepting him as a main eventer. -

From what I’ve read, he actually wanted to stay off camera and learn in the Power Plant but WCW wanted him out there to use in angles. I’m sure didn’t object to strenuously as I can imagine he probably got paid a lot more to be on camera than being in a gym getting yelled at by The Sarge. But how much more training do you need to hit the ropes or take a drop toe hold? Any one of us here could have went out there and worked a better match than that.

That's the thing, right there. It's become so predictable that it's ridiculous. How many times in the past few years have you been able to say "Whoa, didn't see that coming?" I'd also shit my pants if Sting showed up on Raw. Maybe if they had went PG a couple years earlier it might have happened.
