Tape qualifty from back then probably wasn't that great so I doubt they'd have much 50s-60s footage around from either the NWA or the AWA that's actually viewable. I've never seen any that's for sure but that doesn't mean that they don't have it stored in some dark vault in the basement
-
erm Pescado I'm not sure what that is compared to the other too. but a Plancha if I'm not mistaken a Plancha is from standing still to leaping over the top rope using the ropes to give you bounce Topë is a running dive between the middle and the top rope. right?
-
I know this should really be in the TNA folder but this is completly PATHETIC. good for Kanyon not to sign such a preposterous contract
-
I can't believe you overlooked this guy Mick Foley
-
Maybe it's just me here - but what the heck is the difference between Psycho Driver I and Psycho Driver III in those clips?? they look about the same to me

Intriguing ”one of the biggest stars in the world” and X Cup related to boot. So strike Liger cause he’s been on a TNA show before Mistico? Erm how is he “one of the biggest stars in the world”? Kobashi? I think he qualifies Lesner? Well I doubt he’d be put in the X Cup so I’m saying no So think “big names” and X division type people – Ultimo Dragon? Mutoh? No I think I will cast my vote for the one, the only – the BIGGEST STAR in the world (not just in wrestling) LAAAAAAAAA PARKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! *Chair dance*

if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck I'll call it a duck even if it moo'ed in a different post. In other words - I ain't gonna bother reading your resume, THAT post was nothing but a blind TNA mark post so there you have it. And hey they got a better time slot, you wouldn't take a BETTER Saturday Night time slot? besides if Vince REALLY wanted to crush TNA head to head he'd have booked some more compelling matches yaknow?
-
Well they WERE a team in the WWF too - just not given a name, you even say so yourself - they teamed in the WWF. I never said they were the "Faces of Fear" in the WWF, I said they "Formed the Faces of Fear in WCW"
-
No go SOUTH - east is too frigging cold, we're not all polarbears

The Powers of Pain were gone from the WWF in early 1992. I think in Warlord's case it definately had something to do with the steroid testing. Barbarian showed up in WCW that spring and was one-half of the last US Tag Team Champions alongside Greg Valentine. He then had a brief main event push against Ron Simmons that fall and was pushed down the roster late 92/early 93 and left again. A few years later, Barbarian & Warlord showed up on the 1/1/96 Nitro as the masked "Super Assassins", managed by Col. Parker, and were squashed by Sting & Luger. After that Barbarian teamed up with Meng once more (Barbarian/Haku - what do you mean they weren't HUGE in the WWF?) and they formed the "Faces of Fear" Which I kinda dug as a team at least initially
-
I knew what you were going for and Hulk/Hollywood just isn't what you were talking about cause it's still Hulk Hogan either way. You were looking for people who were like "Merciless Masked Ming" in WCW and then came to the WWF and became an unmasked fitness guru or whatever you want to call it right? So since you said successful Nova/Simon Dean doesn't count Since the mid 90ties or so it's been less about "reinventing" a guy when he changed federations - I mean there used to be a time where the WWF wouldn't even ackowledge that someone had wrestled elsewhere before joining them. Btw. does Matt Borne / Big Josh/ Doink count?
-
I'm sorry but WHAT THE HELL? you bitch that they implement these things to help save lives and hopefully prevent another Eddie Guerrero death because they're going on a hard road trip? So I guess it's okay to drug it up if you've got a busy road schedule? That kind of logic just astounds me - have either of you ever worked for the WWE booking team?
-
Nope it certainly isn't Unless the WWE named the event "Saturday Night's Main Event" in the mid 80ties just because they knew that 20 years down the line another promotion would run for one hour late on Saturday. and before you say anything else - an NBC prime time special cannot be anything but SNME, it's just tradition. and the HoF being Saturday? Yes damn then for once again holding it on the day before WM - damn them when they decided to hold the first WM on a Sunday because they knew that twenty some years down the road TNA would do a show the day before. Hall of Fame has been on the day before WM before, hell havent the recent ones always been on Saturday before WM? Well before TNA got their Saturday night slot. Talk about being an example of what happens when you love TNA blindly and forget to stop and THINK before you post *tisk*tisk*
-
I actually have the Sid / Barbarian match - it was on a EuroSport version of "Prime Time" I do believe so it was taped and used there even if it wasn't shown in the States (they showed plenty of MSG special matches and others "CHV only" matches on the international edition. I even saw Sid Vs Jake... well sort of Sid Vs "El Diablo" who was Jake under a mask, but nothing ever came of the Sid/Snake feud - probably because Jake went straight from a Savage feud to an Undertaker program that was his last with the federation
-
Krusher Kruschev / Smash / Repo-Man / Blacktop Bully / Stewart Pain / Barry Darsow!!! oh wait you said successful... well the Russians were pretty hated and Demolition were awesome, Repo-Man cracked me up and... no I can't say anything nice about the last 3 personas
-
Aren't 2 of those reigns actually with the "Big Gold Belt" or the "NWA International title" that WCW promoted for a while (Traded it with Ric Flair and later unified it with Sting's WCW title) I doubt those 2 are counted, nor the 1 day switches overseas that were never promoted in any way.
-
Almost correct there the AWA was part of a cooperation between the AWA, WCCW and CWA (Memphis) and they recognized one "Unified" champion for a while - but that champion was both AWA and WCCW champion (Seperate belts) and it was only one man Jerry Lawler. He won the AWA title, later beat Kerry for the WCCW title and they were "unified" - but neither promotion ceased to be a seperate entity, it was like the NWA territories originally. Then the AWA pulled out, the AWA title was taken from Lawler (I think he was actually stripped of it) and the AWA ran by themselves for a year, year and a half before it died. The AWA lineage died in 91 or whenever the federation finally folded (When Larry "the Champ" Zybysko started to appear in WCW basically) WCCW and CWA/CWF (I forget which name they used) were merged by then to one federation though - and shortly afterwards changed their name to USWA, but that was after the AWA pulled out of the whole thing. USWA = Texas & Tennessee
-
damn it - now you've just upped the bribing levels for us all
-
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOO!! perfect place for Bruce Vs Cross MUA-HA-HA-HA!! Seems like the opening promo is called already - dang... erm can I call the promo between the card being posted and the first match? the "pre-first match" promo which is much less prestigious than the opening promo but hey I'm less prestigious than Muzz so all in all that seems fair And that's one bad ass main event!

He's about as active that's true but it's a different game - people are expecting Sting to return to wrestling to "un-retire" and work most PPVs and maybe even some tapings (hey bonus) signing Fo... yeah it's about the same really now that I type it out, they could have found the cash. -
You've done gone and tempted him now. Good show - but there was a part missing sadly I posted it on the side since it's critical to the next show. Thumbs up to Akira for a HUGE title defense and another one to Cross for winning a shot at me after the PPV good stuff and the Straight-Bread sensation goes 3 and 0, it's the Cinder-Jimmy story of the Lethal Lottery Bring on the last round of the Lottery!!

(woops failure to communicate, I thought IL would send this on to the proper people - this is supposed to be part of Smarkdown) We return to the ring where we find Joseph Peters front and center with Janus and a couple of his security staff members ensuring that the peace is kept for this segment. Why does the peace need to be kept? Well when Joseph Peters gets in the ring and has Bruce Blank, flanked by his brother Wayne and Insane Luchador in there as well peace definitely needs to be kept – and Janus is just the man to do it. Towering over the small SWF chairman alternating between looking serious and looking deadly serious Janus watches both wrestlers closely. “Ladies and gentlemen” Peters starts after clearing his throat “I have asked for both Mr. Rickmen and Mr. Blank to be here because I want to contain the violence between them before it gets too out of hand and others are hurt by it” Peters looks at Insane Luchador, then at Bruce Blank in a way that indicates that he didn’t seem to mind if they just tore each other apart, he just can’t let it spill over to the rest of the federation. “I’ve heard you both make demands of the other. Bruce claims that Luchador isn’t worthy of a title shot and Luchador claims that Bruce isn’t worthy of the title… we seem to be at a dead end don’t we gentlemen?” Peters says as he looks at Bruce. “There is one way to solve it” he adds YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!! LET THEM FIGHT!! LET THEM FIGHT!! LET THEM FIGHT!! Bruce quickly grabs the microphone from Peters, a move that gets Janus attention even if Bruce tries his best to ignore the Hell Machine. “WHOA NELLY! I’m the champion, I decide who I defend against. I appreciate you being in charge and all but you can’t dictate any title defenses except against #1 Contenders” Bruce says with a smirk. The crowd easily sees where this is going and starts to boo “And this little twep isn’t the #1 contender. Too bad, so sad” Bruce adds with a smirk and then hands the microphone over to Peters again. “Yes thank you Bruce for a lesson in what I can and cannot do. You forgot that I can strip you of the title!” YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!! “I can also fire you!” YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!! That comment draws Insane Luchador into the game as HE grabs the microphone from Peters. “NO!! I don’t want him stripped of the title – I want to TAKE it from!! I don’t want him fired – I want to put him in the hospital. IL!! IL!! IL!! IL!! IL!! IL!! IL!! ”Seems like the fans agree with you” Peters says as he takes in the fan reaction to the idea of IL putting Bruce out of commission. Peters stands there for a moment and mulls something before holding the microphone up to his mouth. “Alright Bruce YOU want Luchador to “earn” a title shot?” Peters asks to which Bruce nods vehemently in response. “Alright I’ll give you what you want.” Luchador looks very pissed off over the decision and starts to say something, but Peters quickly whispers something to him off microphone that seems to appease him. “At “From the Fire” Insane Luchador will fight for a shot at you Bruce – You specifically, not the Ultraviolent title or anything like that – YOU in a 1 on 1 match under Ultraviolent rules that you can’t run away from” Peters starts out “And YOU get to pick the opponent and the stipulation” Bruce rubs his hands with excitement as Peters tells him that Bruce has the power to pick and choose. After conferring with Wayne for a moment or two he turns back to Peters and Insane Luchador and motions for the mic. “Thank you Joe, I always thought you were a fair main” Bruce says with a monster smirk on his face and why not? Things seem to be going his way “Now I have to pick a guy that I can trust, someone I KNOW will get the job done without a doubt. I’ve seen a lot of supposed “SWF Superstars” in the ring but there ain’t a single one of them I’d trust to fight on my behalf, not a single one of these bastards who wouldn’t relish the chance to stick it to me” WHITEEEEEEEEEEEEE TRASH!! WHITEEEEEEEEEEEEE TRASH!! Bruce ignores the chant and just keeps on “There is one guy though” Bruce says and pads his little brother on the shoulder “Who I DO trust. There is one guy who’d do ANYTHING to win. If only he can be persuaded with a little… incentive eh Wayne?” Bruce turns and looks at Wayne who acts all surprised that he was talking to him. “Well gosh, darn it Bro – I’d love to rassle for ya, but I ain’t got no contract, I don’t work for the S-Dubba-F” Wayne hamming it up like he was William Shatner. “That’s a good point Wayne. Maybe Joe here could give you a little incentive to win… maybe an SWF contract instead of just managing me?” Bruce asks Peters. Peters is well aware of what Bruce and Wayne are up to, Wayne is a notorious trouble maker and hasn’t been able to wrestle for a North American federation in over a year. Can he risk it? Peters looks at Wayne and then at Insane Luchador. Then slowly he nods “Well alrighty!! Wayne you’re on deck for “From the Fire” Bruce says as Wayne just grins from ear to ear like he just stole the last pie in the shop. “And the match? How about a ladder match… an Ultraviolent Ladder match” Bruce states “Wait, wait, wait Bruce – does that mean there’ll be barbwire??” Wayne asks all excited. “Oh there’ll be plenty of barbwire” Bruce says in an ominous tone. “How about thumbtacks?? Uh-uh-uh! or how about glass? I’d love to throw him into some glass” Wayne asks in his annoying little yappy voice “Thumbtacks, glass, weapons of any type you can think off… it wouldn’t be Ultraviolent without it” Bruce says before handing the microphone back. “So how about it? Do you accept the match?” Peters asks Insane Luchador who’s remained totally unemotional through the announcement of his opponent and the stipulation. “Do I accept? Do I accept the chance to turn this little creep into road kill? Do I accept the chance to send a message to the entire inbred Blank family? Do I accept an opportunity to guarantee a shot at this idiot??” Luchador asks and then holds the microphone up in the air. HELL YES!! “I look forward to it! I don’t even care if I qualify for the TLC match or not, I will be there and I will kick your skull in Wayne!!” Luchador adds after the crowd accepted on his behalf. “Now as for you Bruce” Peters says much to Bruce’s confusion. “You need to defend the Ultraviolent title at From the Fire as well… and who better to pick your opponent and your stipulation than… “Peters says and turns his head to look straight at Insane Luchador YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!! “How about it? He needs to prove that he deserves the title right??” Bruce shakes his head and tries to back out of the deal for a moment or two, not sure of what Luchador could pull out but Wayne calms him down after a moment or two reminding him that he could blow the whole deal right then and there. “Yes he does. He also needs to stay the hell AWAY from the Ultraviolent ladder match! Bruce I don’t trust you to stay out of your brother’s match, so how about we send you AWAY from the arena?” Luchador says as anger flares up in his voice and in his eyes. “And honestly I’ve got a great desire to see you knocked the F*Beep* out!” YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!! “Last Man Standing…. “Blood on the Ice” and I’ll make sure your ass is thrown against EVERYTHING in the hockey arena, I’ll make sure your head is driven through the damn ice until you’re nothing but a smear of blood on the ice” Luchador says informing everyone of the Last Man Standing brawl set in a hockey arena as Bruce’s match. Bruce looks a bit worried, a hockey arena is a new one – but he did win the “Hide and Seek Hockeytown edition” and all so he’s not totally put off by it… not totally. “As for who you’re going to face. I’ve told you that by MY standards you’re a joke… that compared to the people I’ve competed with and against in you time you hardly stack up I think it’s time to prove that” Luchador says as he looks at Janus for a moment. That half second of eye contact between the Hell Machine and the Insane Luchador turns Bruce pale white. “There is someone I trust, someone who’s a friend as well as a fierce competitor – someone I have no doubt will show you what being OLD SCHOOL TOUGH is all about!” “Quit stalling and tell us!” Bruce yells anxious to find out who his opponent is. “I don’t think so Bruce, no I think you need to worry a bit, I think you need to look over your shoulder and wonder who or what is coming your way” Luchador says with a smirk, the fact that he’s got Bruce so rattled pleases him no end and he’s not about to end it just yet. “So I’ll tell you who you’ll face. . . eventually” Bruce explodes in rage and lunges for Insane Luchador but is quickly stopped by Janus’ security force and pushed back, away from Peters and IL. “Don’t worry Peters, I’ll tell you and everyone else who I’ve got in mind on Storm” Luchador says before handing the microphone over to Peters and leaving the ring. * Fade to commercial *
