  1. Why? When it's done right sample-based song creation can be just as artful/worthwhile/interesting as "traditional" music (cf. The Avalanche's Since I Left You, which is maybe my favorite album ever). Yeah, I understand that now. Two days ago I didn't.
  2. No way.
  3. I'm with ya. They're a lot of fun. Know what else is a lot of fun? Girl Talk. I didn't think I'd be able to stomach an entire albums worth of sampling, but this is great. It's free, too, they're pulling a Radiohead.
  4. When I look at my team, and see who I want to fill out the rest of my lines, I feel that those guys are going to go much quicker than the guys I want to play defense, so as opposed to filling a more current need I'm going to play the best-player-on-my-board route. Ilya Kovalchuk
  5. It's been 16 hours since MFer's pick, so that means it's me. Bill Parcells 2x AP Coach of the Year Sporting News Coach of the Year 2x Pro Football Weekly Coach of the Year Maxwell Football Club Coach of the Year 2x UPI NFL Coach of the Year 2x Super Bowl Winner 1990's all decade team Took a New York Jets team that went 1-15 in 1996 to the AFC Championship game just two years later. Turned a 2-14 Patriots team into division winners in just two seasons. Turned a 5-11 Cowboys team in to winners (and he's pretty much responsible for how good this past year's Cowboy team was). Coaching tree includes Belichick, Coughlin, Crennel, Payton, Mangini, Sparano, Weiss, and Al Groh. Yeah.
  6. Disregard this.
  7. Rod Gilbert 8 Time All Star 1976 Bill Masterson Trophy Winner 1991 Lester Patrick Trophy Winner Hall of Fame class of 1982 First New York Ranger to have their number retired Rangers career goal leader (406) Rangers career point leader (1021) Tallied 5 assists in a game three different times Played in the 72 Summit Series Featured in Andy Warhol's sports painting thingy.
  8. Haha, after you take Brad Park and Ken Morrow from me in the NHL All Time Draft, isn't it funny that my team nabs Del Zotto from yours in the real draft? At least I think it's sort of funny.
  9. This and The Chronic are the only albums you picked that I've heard. And is this draft really going to go by without any of you picking a Pavement record?
  10. I say yes, if only because of how great he is in the post season. Four post season complete games, 2.23 ERA, 11-2 record. He's in.
  11. Jim Ringo, Center
  12. He was too high on coke to perform in any sketches in the first ever SNL episode. This is a shame.
  13. Quiet you. Your team's games are broadcast everywhere in the country. I need these nationally televised games!
  14. Actually, I think it may be my pick. Mfer picks at 3:30 yesterday, then Gert and 909 make their makeup picks at 4:30ish, putting Nskie on the clock at 3:30 yesterday, til 3:30 am this morning, putting Treble on the clock at 3:30 am this morning til 3:30 pm today...I think it's my pick. Earl Seibert, D Every all star team from 1935 to 1944 Only player Eddie Shore wouldn't fight. Won cups with the 33 Rangers and 38 Blackhawks Killed Howie Morenz
  15. Nskie can pick now, been 12 hours. I think we should shorten it to 8.
  16. I've only heard it in sentences like "Dude, did you know we have a word for that? Yeah, it's 'defenestrate'".
  17. I've never heard anyone legitimately use the word "defenestrate" in a sentence. Wow. Congratulations.
  18. Pleasantly surprised that Mark Gastineau made it back to me. 5 time Pro Bowler 5 time All Pro 1982 Defensive Player of the Year 1982 George Halas trophy winner (there's about 30 awards with this name, he won one of them) New York Jets all time team 100 sacks in 100 games (finished with 107.5) 22 Sacks in 1982, which was a record until Strahan broke it. Controversially I might add.
  19. I sometimes follow wikipedia links and find out who my favorite bands toured with.
  20. Also, "babseball".
  21. Fucking disgusting that Terry Bradshaw is taken after Donovan McNabb. Wanted to say that earlier but didn't want to name drop. Rosey Brown was always my second choice, Ramsus, haha. I'll be shocked if the third guy I had in mind makes it back to me though.
  22. Bwuh. I had my heart set on Tony Gonzalez. Well, more blocking for Namath and Martin then. 9 time pro bowler. NFL 75th Anny Team 1950's All Decade Ranked number 57 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players. 1956 NFL Champion with the Giants Blocked for three NFL MVP's, Frank Gifford, Y.A. Tittle and Charlie Conerly. Hall of Fame Class of 1975. Rosey Brown
  23. I bolded the really dumb things you said. EDIT: I added some bolded things. You can't be a fan of both the A's and the Angels. The Angels are the Athletics principal rivals and they play in the same division. That's fucking retarded.
  24. Babe Pratt's a defensemen, CG. On the first page you have him as a forward.
