  1. Baseball, by far. Longer history and it was virtually Cincinnati's identity for a very long time. Football, has spurts in the area and that's dependant on the success of the Bengals. While it was still big in the area even during that horrendous 90's decade, baseball's still the main sport, although the attendence doesn't reflect that (which is a result of it being in a very dangerous area). High School football is probably the main thing of Cincinnati right now, even more so then the surging Bengals franchise. So, currently football controls Cincinnati but historically speaking and in the heart of hearts of most native Cincinnatians, the Reds are still the big sport here.
  2. exactly..I would go as far as to say Detroit is baseball town before any other sport If that's the case, they have to change center ice at the Joe. I think Hockeytown, I'm thinking Montreal or Toronto. Not Detroit. Not me, I think of Detroit as a "hockeytown" well before I would with Montreal/Toronto. I wonder, head to head across the country, how many cities are generally baseball towns over the other big three sports? If I wanted, I would break it down and see which sport is the town more attached to. I'd have to imagine Baseball is the forerunner simply because of its longer history in most cities.
  3. I just wonder how much simpler these tv game shows can get. It's really all about a large sum of money, a popular and likable host and easy concept that any one can follow. At least there's some intelligence needed here (although the questions are easier then WWTB), unlike Deal which just asks for random number selection and some basic math.
  4. I want actual explantion in regards to that Cubs fanbase comment. What is, if any, the justification for such a braindead statement? The regularly large crowds that Chicago draws despite horrendous teams? Is that basically the only measure of support? Chicago fans, aren't unlike Philadelphia, NYC and Boston. The Cubs fanbase has this perception of being "aw shucks, let's go Cubbies!", when it really isn't. If anything, they are more angry and bitter about their failure as Boston was. The difference being Boston set their fans up for greater levels of failure, making them much more visible then a 6th place franchise and their respective failures. Naiwf, Sammy was torn apart once the love affair had expired.
  5. Invasion and Nine, both were screwed with their timeslots. People just don't want ANOTHER 60 minutes of twists and turns after LOST had thrown them around like a roller coaster. They are better off putting a regular drama on after this instead of shows that are forcing people right off the bat to care about these characters enough to follow these loopy storylines. The show is good, but like most new shows, it's been hurt by its time placement.
  6. Yes. He was cut by WWE, I believe on Monday.
  7. By January, there will only be 5 regular ECW originals (Sabu, Van Dam, Sandman, Balls, and Dreamer)
  8. It only took 2 days but Brent Albright has already landed with ROH. That was fast and they made sure to debut him in OVW land (Dayton). Albright could be ROH's next James Gibson type success.
  9. Regarding sport show success, Coach is a stretch because it was really about his personal life. Football was probably 1/5th of that show but it still worked and was appealing but not because of the football elements. One Tree Hill, used basketball as a key part of the show in its first season but after that dropped it to become a routine teen drama show that occasional remembers to include basketball. You have shows like Arliss (which was a horrible show but it revolved around sports and lasted a rather long time) and that's about it because aside from short lived shows like White Shadow, Sports Night(which is also a stretch), I don't remember anyothers to actually last more then one season on tv. I'm not counting teen nbc shows like Hang Time. There's success in shows about former coaches, players in new surroundings but never the actual sport itself
  10. I agree that Punk doesn't need Miseria Cantare, it was a fantastic intro in ROH because it gave a epic feeling and Punk's matches in ROH were built in that regard. Punk was THE man in ROH, when he used it first, it was just to show his ego but at the end during his super-duper mega babyface period, it was designed to make Punk look more important. It's not a good TV intro and they'd never let him have a 90 second pause before coming out. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing it back for a huge event like D2D or WM23, if he's given an important match and use that intro to make him look even better but it's not needed right now as his current theme is good and the crowd has already linked it with Punk. While I'm glad he has kept most of his original character traits intact, the music isn't needed as much.
  11. But you're putting more thought into it than they are. The reason they keep putting over her age isn't to add depth, it's to make her more of a sexual object for the horny older marks. I wasn't saying that's who they intend for her to be, I was saying (to me), that is how she comes off and that makes her an more enjoyable character then the regular divas who just show off their body and offer very little else in the way of character. Everything else I've said about her is accurate in regards to the purpose of her character to put over her young age, her need to get attention even if it means taking clothes off and still maintaining a youthful attitude despite an much older BF who is very overprotective. I still think they to explain the Knox/Kelly relationship in greater detail especially with Punk being injected.
  12. I don't think that's reading too much into it as that's basically her character. Young girl who takes clothes off for attention and has a bf that overprotects her but she doesn't do anything about it and they never seemingly show any affection on camera. Which is why I agreed with CC's statement that she looks like a HS(since she was not so long ago) and that her character is essentially the same as alot of high school girls.
  13. You're fine with Gunnar, but the usage of a fairly regular last name is what put you over the edge? Gregory Helms is fine, it's his name. Shane is such a indy-rific name anyways.
  14. I like Alec Baldwin (who doesn't?) but I wish he was doing something better then a Tina Fey/Tracy Morgan vehicle because any show that requires Morgan to carry part of it is a disaster in the making. So far, none of the new sitcoms have worked except The Class and that is only because they have two characters that I actually like while the rest aren't enjoyable. 2GY isn't good at all, Ted Danson isn't enough for HMHY.
  15. Kelly, has put over how young she is, "But I'm only 19", her awkward laughing and inital nervousness in front of a crowd while feeling she has to take her clothes off to get attention, is classic indication of an insecure young girl who just wants attention. It doesn't need to be spelled out. I was describing her character and why it's much more effective then Ashley and the others, who are just trashy girls. There's more subtly in Kelly's character then people like Ashley, Kristal and Trinity.
  16. Yea, b/c TNA didn't just hire a guy fired from another company for drug use. TNA is known for looking the other way when it comes to things like that. And because TNA doesn't give a shit what we think....should we never discuss anything? Flawed logic. Angle wasn't fired. I guess someone actually brought Kurt's spin job. There's always one of them.
  17. I agree that Kelly usually looks the most normal because of the lack of plastic and the regular face and it's weird because at first Kelly seemed like the typical barbie doll (which, to an extent, still is) but her age (something they keep putting over) has made Kelly really appear younger, which is a good thing. The other diva's are older and are just trashy while Kelly gets over with that HS innocence about her character, as so much that she comes off more of one of the popular girls from HS, who flirts alot but is actually pretty insecure and is probably a virgin (the character, not the actual person). She has a protective bf, who figured out her insecurity and Kelly's need to feel protected keeps her with him. I don't think they have even so much as made any sexual innuendo towards each other. That's a dynamic that I really like. Unlike Edge/Lita and Nitro/Melina, Knox/Kelly show no physical attraction towards each other, which makes you wonder what is the deal behind them. In the process of bringing Punk into that deal, they need to explore the history of Kelly and Knox and elaborate on it. It's scary how the divas are sometimes better characters/actors with clearer character issues then the regular wrestlers.
  18. Huh? Did what? Lidle, crashed. In what way are you implicating a fan's involvement?

    God bless this

I agree that God Bless America is the worse of all the patriotic self-serving songs out there. I get it from the standpoint in NYC but the rest of the majors shouldn't be forced fed. If they need some patriotic song, do something that's more energetic. The Anthem pumps you up for a game. America The Beautiful is a visually pleasing song, while GBA is just a piece of crap song. Very few people ever perform it on a pleasing level. What's worse is that NYC brings out the same fat cop for these things every damn year.
  20. Reporters are actually asking if this was a terrorist act. I get that NYC is sensitive to this type of thing but that's sort of a silly question to ask in relation to a millionaire pitcher for the local team. It's a sad situation and it's expecially amplified by the involvement of Lidle but the circumstances are obviously strange, especially in NYC.
  21. I've been saying Sunday Night would be ideal, after the NFL season concludes on NBC. I wonder if pushing the football game to a 8:45 start with FNL being used as a lead in from 7-8 could work. Might as well go all out with the football theme. It's a shame that the best new shows are struggling out the gate and it seems all the networks refuse to give it time. Do they not remember how many classic shows tanked out the gate but got momentum? What's worse is that each network replaces the canceled show with re-runs of the same show. The repeats can't be doing that much better in the ratings anyways I wish they at least ship the shows that struggle over to USA/Bravo. It wouldn't hurt to pull out another L&O:SVU repeat and placed FNL there if it's struggling so bad on network. I'm not surprised that ratings are low for FNL as I said in another thread, everyone who would be interested in this show already read the book or saw the movie and don't see the point in following a TV version. All they really did was change the players and city name but kept everything else the same.
  22. We will figure who Punk squashed this time but seeing how Punk has beaten every other jobber on the show except the FBI, I'll assume and hope it was one of them. Judging from normal shows, are you sure it wasn't Thorn who beat Moore?
  23. I still think moving the show to Sunday after NFL season is over would help the show out more. Tuesday is a loaded night as it is and it'll be so in the second half against AI. I would rather NBC give one of their best shows a better shot by sticking it on Sunday where it has a better chance of catching a larger fanbase. I think a problem the show has with catching on is that, at this point everyone who would be interested has read the book and/or seen the movie. While they have changed the name of the town, it's still about HS football in Texas. The ad's for the show haven't shown that its something different from those two things. I think they should have relocated the show from Texas to California or Ohio, where HS football is just huge there as it is in Texas. I think people might take to a different setting to a old premise differently.
  24. Using Foley would be completely counter-productive. The decision to do RVD/TBS in a non-title deal isn't a horrible direction to go as it stands to draw slightly better ratings and it really shouldn't affect the buyrate for D2D, especially if they really push that possibility of the title change the fans want. There's still alot of steam left in this program, especially to early December. ECW has a good flow going whenever they aren't dealing with SD/Raw and once again, they are disrupted by WWE/Universial insistance on sticking these brands together. Without the SD/Raw involvment, ECW had 3-4 good storylines to keep pushing along for D2D and by throwing in a couple special attraction matches, that would have made for a good card. The SD/Raw stuff just gets in the way. While TBS is doing stuff with Cena/Booker, it takes the focus off the RVD deal and that hurts the program far greater then giving it away on free tv.
  25. The Katie Vick storyline had much more hype and focus given throughout the span of a month. The Katie Vick storyline was pushed not just as the focal point of the RAW brand in that particular period of time but they even shopped it around the mainstream media, BEGGING to get covered. You can’t honestly compare an idiotic, pointless, cheap and creatively nauseating concept designed ONLY to get negative heat and publicity that incorporated stimulated rape, bad one-liners and a fucking laugh track all for the express purpose of fulfilling a senile old man’s perverted fantasy to a hour long T&A skit that was essentially just fluff and was designed as silly fluff. It was never meant to be taken seriously. The very fact you even tried to proclaim a comedy skit themed around T&A was more offensive and stupid then the aforementioned Katie Vick Storyline, the massive idiotic bullshit used to exploit Eddie Guerrero’s death and countless racism angles only shows that you have a absurdly altered perception of reality and the difference in the intent of those respective storylines and segments.
