  1. I fully expect him to get to 3,000 barring injury.
  2. There was speculation that he might stay because Hargrove left. Apparently he is fond of the interim manager.
  3. Oh dear god. "Roit rage."
  4. My cousin and I were shot at in high school. It was almost point blank range into his '79 Ford Bronco witha .357 magnum. You know the power those things have. What saved us was how cars were built back then. The metal casing of the window track was dented, otherwise it probably would have come all the way through the door and hit my cousin and/or myself.
  5. Any Least Valuable Player talk has to consider Pavano whether he played a game this year or not. That's quite the bang for your buck, there. Eric Milton, as well, who I would say is the worst free agent acquisition ever for the Reds.

    What If...?

What if the Dolphins had a quarterback for the past 6 years?
  7. Thanks for the stats, Al.
  8. I try to answer the alarm clock all the time.
  9. Anyone that doesn't have Pence for NL ROY needs smacked. One of the finest rookies I've seen in a while. NL MVP is hard for me. I want to say Fielder because of Milwaukee's success and his part in that. I'd almost give Jake Peavy and Chris Young Co-MVP's right now, though. I'll say Fielder. NL Cy Young is a terrific race. Brad Penny is having a terrific season, but trails the big two in SO's. I'd like to see a "run support" statistic for Peavy, Young and Penny. Al? Before looking at that stat, I'll say Peavy for the commanding lead in SO's. NL Manager goes to Bud Black in my opinion, because it has to be hard to win if your team can't hit very well. In the AL MVP race, I give it to Maggs. Awesome year so far. ARod has great stats and has been phenomenal late in the game, but in my eyes he suffers because he can't get his team to win. Most people say this shouldn't matter, but I think the MVP should be someone that is so valuable that they pretty much carry the team. Detroit has several good bats, but Ordonez is where it's at right now. AL ROY---Dice-K AL Cy Young---Dan Haren leading by a lot. As for AL Manager, I'm torn. Eric Wedge or Jim Leyland? Stupid reason, but I have always liked Leyland so I will pick him in a toss-up.
  10. Do you think Piazza will be traded to DH for a contending club?
  11. Yeah, I like both prospects. I think Bruce will end up being the better of the two, but they are really good prospects. I expect Hatteberg and possibly Conine traded away before the deadline, and Votto to be called up to get some experience. He is definitely going to be on the expanded roster late in the season. Bruce needs to stay at AA for another month or two and then see what he can do at AAA. Next year, he might be called up.
  12. Anyone watching the Futures game?
  13. What's strange is that Weathers is pretty much the lone guy in that 'pen you could trust with a two run lead in the 9th with two outs. Edit: I'll miss Hatteberg. I don't even trust Weathers. I think Marcus McBeth will develop into a good reliever and possibly a closer. Right now, though, the entire bullpen is shaky. Weathers looks good most of the time, but he still allows baserunners too often. You're right, though, he's the best option.
  14. Not only did the Reds bullpen blow another lead, but so far there have been two separate tries to lay down a sac bunt, and both were failures to execute. It's hard being a Reds fan. Pray for pitching for me.
  15. The Reds' bullpen continues to depress me.
  16. You have to love the attitude. Don't EVEN ask her what's up...you're likely to get a smart a$$ reply!!!
  17. That sucks, man. Good luck.

    What If...?

It wasn't the strike. The offensive spike occurred in 1993/94, before the strike. I maintain the greatest change in baseball at that point were the new ballparks, nearly all of which benefit offense more than defense. Yeah, the offensive stats were gaudy the year OF the strike, not after. I'm just talking about the players being able to take whatever they wanted and work out as much as they wanted while the strike was going on. You had a much longer offseason, and I've just always suspected that is when steroids became more common. Just a crackpot theory I've had since the whole steroids thing came about.

    What If...?

Hey, I thought that DeShields was a good young player back then, but I just didn't see them giving up a very promising young pitcher. By your same reasoning, what if DeShields got hurt and never reached greatness? Butler was already older at that point, even though he was a tremendous lead-off hitter and the game's best bunter and could foul off pitches at will until he got one that he liked. I'm sure the intent was for DeShields to eventually take over the role that Butler held at the time. Looking at Jose Reyes' stats, I have softened my stance on the .400 OBP, somewhat, but there really should be no reason to be at .400 OBP if you are hitting right at .300. DeShields just struck out way too much for the kind of player he should have been. I know what you're saying, but I just don't think it was an even trade, hindsight be damned.
  20. By available credit, I meant do you have an amount on any credit cards that has not been used so far. I was going to suggest a cash advance.
  21. Available credit as of now? Also, was the roommate not on the lease? How soon do you need the money? More details, please. I've been in a similar situation before.
  22. Yeah, I figured it was for one of those backstage segments where a bunch of old-timers showed up for no reason, most likely the Cryme Tyme segment at Mania.
  23. What available credit do you have right now? Would you consider advertising for a roommate? Would you consider moving? You might have to bite the bullet and pawn something or get a personal loan from a pawn shop while they hold collateral (i.e. a big screen tv).
  24. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?...imageID=1027308 This is one of the pictures that Themisfitishere used as pictures of himself. He was a jokester on the IMDB Lost boards, and most people thought he was being serious when he was goofing around the whole time. He would post ridiculous theories coming from pictures on the show that would obviously be purely circumstancial. It was quite funny to see people's reactions to him. There were even a few on this board that reported his theories over here, not knowing the guy was doing it to get a rise out of people. Be sure to check out all of the pictures of this guy the Misfit said was him. He claimed his name was Mike Rotch (my crotch). Edit---For some reason, the picture won't show so I just provided the link.
