  1. I thought it was decent. I think the fact that I can remember almost none of the jokes the next day is a bad sign, though.
  2. I'm gonna go out on a limb (ok, maybe not) and say that USA will not win this tournament. I watched the whole game and neither Fuentes or Nathan looked close to ready to pitch at a high level. If Buck Martinez is going to count on them at the end of games, forget it. And I think Venezuela is on the ropes after a loss to Cuba today. One last thing: how long until Japan's cleanup hitter comes to the US? 46 HR, 121 RBI and was .005 away from winning the triple crown two years in a row. Pretty impressive - and he LOOKS like a ball player.
  3. In the last episode...Tony had just whacked his cousin Steve Buscemi (forget character name) due to pressure of the NY mafia. He had killed a NY member and they knew he was behind it. Tony at first resisted and said that he wouldn't kill his cousin, but he knew that he had to do it - so he did. Tony went to go and visit the NY boss to tell him what happened and as they are talking the feds swarmed the place. They were there for the NY boss. Tony saw them coming first and fled by foot. He got away - but his SUV was still parked there. Not sure how that would turn out in real life, but I'm pretty sure Tony is supposed to get away with this one scott-free. And there's your buildup to this season. Unfortunately - I don't have HBO anymore.
  4. Rescued from the 2nd page. Here is the perfect Lost t-shirt that I've been looking for for ages... Numbers - Black T I ordered one - maybe a few here will be interested as well.
  5. Second song was "A Certain Romance". I loved the unicorn skit. Hilarious. And the Walmart joke during weekend update was pretty funny.
  6. ESPN2 is airing the games at 4PM and 8PM, I think. That's what the commercial said, at least.
  7. I thought Gedeon was a good singer, but he had a creepy "future rapist" personality and I wasn't surprised to see him go. I just read Katherine McPhee's profile on the AI site and all along I thought she was a sweet, hot, nerd girl who could sing well. Well, what I didn't know is that she lives in Los Angeles and if she couldn't be a singer, she would be an actress. -5 points in my book for that.
  8. ...the buffet line! OH, thanks, I'll be here all week. That boy is FAT. Good thing he can crush a baseball.
  9. Honestly - it's not Pedro Gomez's fault. He got assigned to cover Bonds and his pursuit of the homerun record. Next thing you know - Bonds became embattled over steroids. Pedro Gomez probably thought he was getting the story of a lifetime, now he's been steroid boy for about three years and counting. I mean, he's still getting on TV all the time, but it's probably not quite what he pictured.
  10. Looking forward to the Marlins finishing 82-80 so I can gloat to all those predicting 100 losses. Seriously - looking forward to watching a ton of guys I followed as prospects for other teams play for MY team and Jeremy Hermida winning NL ROY.
  11. Bill Plaschke made an amazing point on ATH today (I know - I'm as shocked as you were) The two guys who wrote the book also write for the SF Chronicle. If they knew all of this - why didn't they put it in the paper? Did it not meet the standards? They are on record saying they both wanted the Pulitzer for their work on this story - so I'm not so sure it boils down to just money. Obviously - Bonds was up to something but I'm betting that a good deal of this book is treading in the fiction territory or quasi-fiction at best.
  12. Anybody watch? For my money, one of the funniest TV premieres I have seen in a long, long time. It would have been 10x funnier if the commercials didn't give away most of the best jokes. But the jokes were so good they were still funny. I also liked the story arc that spanned the two episodes. I like all the characters and with such a big cast - that's pretty rare. Thumbs up from me. Definitely passed the test and hit the season pass on DVR. 13 year old girl: Mom, can I get a bikini wax? Mom: A bikini wax? You're 13 years old! Let's face it, at this point it would just be a waste of money. GOLD.

    24: Season 5

IMDb has a break listed next week and the next episode as 3/20? Any truth to that? Guess that's why we got two hours last night.
  14. I don't know what the fuck to think anymore. I think the doctor pic is totally valid and now this surfaces. There is only one conclusion: they're fucking with us.
  15. Another fantastic spot. Honestly, I would have been really shocked if it weren't the case, but that's a very good spot.

    24: Season 5

Good stuff. Kim's new boyfriend has a Jack Bauer beatdown in his future, I just know it. I figured Edgar would go after he went looking for Carrie, but I was a bit surprised that he got the silent countdown! And Tony and Henderson are so gonna duke it out in the clinic.
  17. Shit, I didn't even notice that. Good spot.

    Kirby Puckett Dies

Yeah he had a condition. It's called obesity. And I always liked Kirby, despite his troubles after he retired.
  19. Looks nothing like him. Henry Gale looks not even remotely similar.
  20. Local sources are reporting that Kirby Puckett will be taken off life support later this evening. RIP Kirby. Link to story

    24: Season 5

Whoa! 24 is pulling out all the stops this year. TWO HOURS TONIGHT!!! Yes.
  22. But a large % of fans out there realize that there team aren't contendors. Not World Series Winners, not Playoff bound, but not even threats to be taken seriously. Do you really think that the fans of the Royals, Tigers, D-Backs, Reds, Brewers and all of those laden shitty teams honestly care about winning the World Series? No. They probably go to the game because it is cheap, or they want to see certain players. Maybe Baseball should just cut 1/3 of the teams out there and maybe it would become more competitive and will get more attention. D-Backs and Brewers fans probably will in a few years or two. Especially D-Backs. They are about to have a legendary lineup, as they have a ton of SUPER high end prospects that are all essentially big league ready. (Conor Jackson, Carlos Quentin, Stephen Drew, JUSTIN UPTON) They would just need to sign an ace through free agency and I could honestly see them winning the 2007 or 2008 World Series. Same with the Brewers (although they would need to get a bit more lucky).
  23. That's why I'm talking about. Before this season - I said that a win over Duke would make this season a success. Obviously the team exceeded my expectations and might finish the regular season in the Top 10. Absolutely amazing considering they will most likely be the preseason number 1 next year. GO HEELS and I'm pretty upset that I'm not on Franklin St. tonight.
  24. Duke/UNC has been an awesome game to this point. Duke by 1 at the half but there have been about 10 lead changes.
  25. Pokey Reese has informed the Marlins that he might not be coming back to camp. That all but hands the 2B job, to start the season at least, to "journey-man prospect" Dan Uggla who is a good hitter but apparently a weaker fielder. I had hoped Uggla would win the job all along, so see you later, Pokey.
