    NBA Offseason chatter

I'd love to see a Nuggets vs. Magic finals. I wonder if ESPN would bother to cover the series or just move on to Yanks vs. Sox 24/7.

    This week in the NBA

I wonder why the NBA borrowing something like 175 million isn't a bigger story. I was shocked that the four letter network didn't do a story on it. I also wonder who's lending them the money.

    College Basketball: February '09

If you get a chance check out WVU vs. Cinn. on ESPN. It's been a fun first half. I think WVU will be another tough out in the tourney this year. Unlike in football, with only one senior the future is bright for WVU basketball.

Improving Current Sports Coverage By Network

I tried to watch Sportscenter last night. Unfortunately it was hosted by Scott Van Pelt and Stuart Scott. It was unwatchable even in closed captioned! I think instead of trying to be Don Rickles just talk about the games.

Once Great Cable Channels That Have Gone Downhill

Chiller channel on Direct TV used to be pretty good. They'd show Night Gallery and Alfred Hitchcock presents. Now, their becoming just like the SCI Fi channel and that's definitely not a good thing. I still love VH1 classic just for Metal Mania. And I have to agree TCM is amazing. Especially TCM underground. In the last few months they've showed Freaks, Terror in Tiny Town, Sonny Boy, The World's Greatest Sinner, The Fabulous Stains, and Night of the Hunter.

    R.I.P. Lux Interior

Statement from The Cramps PR firm, Girlie Action: Sadly it is the truth. here is the statement For Immediate Release: February 4, 2009 Lux Interior, lead singer of The Cramps, passed away this morning due to an existing heart condition at Glendale Memorial Hospital in Glendale, California at 4:30 AM PST today. Lux has been an inspiration and influence to millions of artists and fans around the world. He and wife Poison Ivy’s contributions with The Cramps have had an immeasurable impact on modern music. The Cramps emerged from the original New York punk scene of CBGB and Max’s Kansas City, with a singular sound and iconography. Their distinct take on rockabilly and surf along with their midnight movie imagery reminded us all just how exciting, dangerous, vital and sexy rock and roll should be and has spawned entire subcultures. Lux was a fearless frontman who transformed every stage he stepped on into a place of passion, abandon, and true freedom. He is a rare icon who will be missed dearly. The family requests that you respect their privacy during this difficult time I'm speechless.

You know it's fitting he passed away 50 years later on the "day the music died"

Superbowl XLIII: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals

It's not like not ejecting Harrison changed the outcome of the game. The Cards still scored with ease when they got the ball back after the safety. Now if they would thrown out Woodley that would've been another matter. Speaking of Woodley he had a hell of a postseason, 6 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.

Speaking of Herzog, after directing Bad Lieutenant:Port of Call New Orleans he'll be directing a horror film starring Michael Shannon. My Son, My Son what have Ye Done?

I'm very happy that Richard Jenkins, Michael Shannon, Melissa Leo, and Werner Herzog got nominated.

    Covering Coverage

It was funny to see on every channel you could hear people booing and singing Hey Hey Goodbye to Bush. Yet when I switched to Fox news you couldn't hear any boos or anyone singing.

The sports coverage and announcing thread

That fucking stupid ass four letter network really needs to get off the so called America's team cock. Who really gives a shit about a CB getting suspended?

    NFL Week Four

I think Dallas would be a much better team if they ran Barber and Jones more. It seems like they feel they have to throw every down because they have Romo, Witten and TO.

My GF dragged me to see the Fratellis last week. I'd never heard of them yet they put on a hell of a show. Much heavier than I expected. Their playing in Chicago on Wednesday. I highly recommend checking them out.
