Well, Angle v. HHH was waaaaaaaaaaaay better than I expected, considering HHH's matches since he got back.  Apparently the ring rust is gone, and he seemed to have picked it up half a step in the ring.  He's not at his 2000 level again, but give him time.

 

That match also included Reason #847 Angle is God:  He picks a fight with Jericho, the guest commentator to distract the ref, and then nails HHH with Jericho's title belt.  That is how a heel get's heat, not by bumping the ref, having 135 guys run in and beat on the face, and then hitting him with a large metal dildo.  Angle's cheating was quick and too the point, and shows that he is a thinking man, not just a coward.

 

I *think* HHH may be up to par by the time Wrestlemania rolls around, so HHH v. Jericho should be a good match.  I was worried up until tonight, but I think the Game is ready to play (God, that sounds very Michael Cole-ish).

That was an amazing moment, Fans chanting for Rock and Hogan. The interview, the beatdown, everything about that ruled. And no, I'm not all that worried about RVD at the moment.

I think some of you need to pull a Hardyz and take some time off from watching cause you people complain WAY too much about the stupidest things.  Seriously, nothing will please you people.  The nWo thing has people talking, and I think that was great what they did.  And no, I am not a sheep cause I think so.  If you think that, fuck you.  Twice.  I thought that was an awesome moment and I am glad I got it on tape.  Its too early to tell if its the best angle ever, but we will see.

 

Henning dont NEED to win.  Face the facts.  Hes a midcarder.  A new one thats still being established in some peoples eyes at that.  So why should Kane, a somewhat main-eventer, job?  Tell me that.  I think it makes sence.  Sure he couldve fought another midcarder.....but whoopee.  Noone whoulda cared.  He will get his chance.

 

Ill agree on some things, like RVD could surely be up there with Rock and Austin.  But he has a while ahead of him.  They are not rushing him cause theres no reason to.  He will be around when Austin and others might not.  So hey, build him up a little more.  BUT, RVD interfering in the Rock/Hogan thing like someone said is stupid and pointless.  It wont get a huge pop, it will just confuse people.

I assume you mean the VAn Daminator not the Van Terminator...since he hasn't done a Van Terminator in the WWF.

 

The Van Daminator was dropped because kicking a chair into someone's head has a tendency to bust them open.

 

As far as the Raw spot...the kick off the top is a move he does all the time.  If he was supposed to do something else, than Regal was out of place for it.  The move itself was fine.

 

OF COURSE RVD ISN'T AS OVER AS HOGAN AND ROCK!

RVD is more over than HHH...that I have said...and stand by it.

 

How over would RVD be if he got the pushes of the ROCK and Hogan?  Who knows.  It is unfair to assume that he wouldn't be getting the same size reaction they did...if he was in the same size program.

 

But I've never seen RVD pushed into a situation where his pop could be accurately weighed against them.

I enjoyed Raw for the most part.

 

I'm surprised the nwo angle hasn't been messed up yet. Hogan/Rock yeah the match will likely suck but the promos should be pretty watchable.

 

RVD on the upperpart of the card nice I like it. Oh and to those dropping the RVD isn't over and only is liked by ECW mutant argument. Get over it you can hate RVD all you want but the fact is in 10 years Hogan will be gone and they need to push new people. RVD is liked by the fans and has talent. Oh and before I'm called a mutant I liked RVD sense his run in All Japan. (around 93 I think)

 

All in all it could be worse.

 

Oh and HHH as a face is dieing here. Make him heel now or get him off TV untill he isn't as slugsih in the ring.

Here's another stupid statement.  The biggest pop that a match has gotten in a LONG time was when the crowd thought that Van Dam had won the title on Raw  last December.  Flair was ref and everyone thought RVD had beaten Jericho with the figure 4.  OF course telling the truth would only hurt your point...so i didn't expect any better.

I enjoyed the Rock/Hogan stuff, except for the waaaaay overdone ambulance angle.  I'll admit, as many careers as he's killed or tried to kill,

I've still got some Hogan nostalgia....but he's REALLY beginning to look his age, between all the wrinkles on his face and the fact that even the hair growing around the side of his head seems to be moving south.  BTW, anybody notice how he seemed to be total dead weight for the Rock Bottom?  HHH/Angle was better than expected.....the rust is shaking off.

A so-so RAW though.......but, I would easily be able to sit through two hours of Jericho and Lawler blurring kayfabe and verbally double-teaming J.R. over what a total man-whore for Austin he's become over the years...that was probably the highlight of the night.

80 percent of this board (probably more) hates HHH so that assumption is very skewed. I really dont care one way or the other about HHH, i feel he had a good run as a heel, but yes hes awful as a face. But it doesnt change the fact hes still more over the RVD, and him facing jericho WILL DRAW MORE MONEY, than RVD facing jericho..

This was like a Twilight Zone-edition of Raw for me.

 

1.  I don't care what all the cynics say, Rock/Hogan was HUGE and they executed the angle just about as well as they could have.  The diesel destroying the ambulance was the perfect way to punctuate the matchup that wrestling marks have been talking about for a long time now, and, frighteningly enough, I thought Hogan was pretty much toe-to-toe with the Rock, promo-wise.  Very intense promo, moment, segment, and angle.

 

2.  Mr. Perfect looked really.../really/ bad.  As a old-school Perfect mark, it gave me chills to see him give his so-called promo and then suffer a pretty uneventful squash from Kane.  I never would have guessed that I would have thought Goldust would have made the better comeback.

 

3.  Austin's sit-down strike was nice, but it definitely shows a decline in his character - in '98, he would have been back in that ring, fucking with Angle during the main event, handcuffed or not - but that could be a good thing.  I find it curious, though, that Austin wasn't the one issuing challenges to Hogan...maybe there are still some issues between the two?

 

4.  Triple H was definitely over at the beginning of the match, but I don't think any one can deny that his ring work in the main event here was beyond slow.  I was BEGGING for Austin, Jericho, Lilian Garcia, ANYBODY to make an appearance, and I don't usually beg for run-ins.  Trip needs to drop the weight and get back some agility, stat.  And, just to give the conspiracy goons a little bit of props, I do have to say that after having Angle give a marvelous performance throughout the whole show, it was more than a little deflating to see Triple H basically trump the match with just the pedigree (though I did call the Flair overturning the decision of the match...  *evil cackling* )

 

5.  Jericho doing commentary was a nice touch, I guess, but there's no reason why he couldn't have slid into the ring and started working Trip's bad leg immediately after the match was over.  Maybe I was just itching for something that happen in that main event, but Jericho just standing on the table with the belts just didn't have that dramatic impact for me, I guess.

 

Overall, it was definitely an edition of Raw that I really wish I had taped...and I haven't had that feeling for Raw in MONTHS, so it can't be bad.

To clarify:   I never said that Hogan and Rock weren't more over.

 

I never said that the angle was bad.

 

I simply corrected the errors that other posters were making while they were "marking" out.

Look back through the posts...look and see how after the segment with the NWO ran people were posting things like:  No one cares about RVD or Edge.   OR This is the greatest angle ever.

 

Look back and tell me who's judgment is clouded.

Oh, and BTW, I don't know where you were in 1998-2000, bps, but RVD was blowing spots in-between puffing bongs all the time in ECW.  Of all the matches I've seen from that era of ECW, no other wrestler got more "You Fucked Up" chants than RVD, but they still cheered for him because he was (and still is) something different than a lot of the crap out there.  But he still blew spots - don't try to play it off otherwise.
