Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted March 17, 2003 Ok, I am all signed up and ready to go. I have preranked some players and am ready for the rest of the "chips" to fall where they may. Oh and the Oakland/Seattle series definately does count. That is a rivalry involving my favorite team, the Oakland Athletics. It is a key series, for momentum purposes and could set a tone for one of the teams if they can get an opening series sweep. I am eager to see Jermaine Dye fully recovered from the broken fibula/tibula/whatever. He said he finally feels able to put all the pressure on it, and has had a pretty good spring training so far.......
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted March 17, 2003 The A's have been notorius slow starters. Let's see if this year is the same or things change.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Well the Tokyo series has been canceled so that isn't going to be a factor any more. I haven't heard when or where the makeup games will be held though.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted March 19, 2003 April 3 and June 30, in Oakland.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted March 19, 2003 We should have the draft this weekend, I think. That gives us a week for trades and such before the season starts.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Agreed. Besides, I'm anxious to see my team.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Well, looks like Tom's having the draft tomorrow. Check the team page.

Guest DrTom Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Yup. League's full, and the draft is going down tomorrow.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted March 20, 2003 What time tonight(pacific time) is the draft? I checked, and it must be at least an hour from now, since the draft order hasn't been selected yet.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted March 20, 2003 Still no draft? I just checked 5 minutes ago.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted March 20, 2003 I changed the draft status to "Ready" last night. A message informed it would happen sometime between whenever I turned it on last night and midnight Saturday night. The best thing I can tell you is to check back and see if your team has been drafted. I didn't specify an order, so it should have been random.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted March 20, 2003 Usually everyone will get an e-mail when the league has been drafted.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted March 21, 2003 The league has been drafted. This thread is going to be pinned, at least until the baseball season kicks off. As for early trade talks, I'd be willing to move a lot of guys on my team. In particular, I have 2 DHs: Ellis Burks and Ed-GAH~! Since that hurts my position flexibility, I'd like to move one of them.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Id like a Relief Pitcher (Closer).. Im quite happy with my team, probably the best OF combo ( Bonds, Abreu,A. Jones, and Dunn)
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Ugh, I should have ranked some pitchers higher. I have a pretty deep OF (Hunter, Ramirez, Matt Lawton, among others) so I'm willing to deal for some good SP. Oh and I have Stewart, Scott. I'll be racking up some fly stats, BOOYAH!! It always seems every year I get Mike Mussina and Ryan Dempster.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted March 21, 2003 I like my pitching. Marvin I might be willing to make a trade I've got 4 potential closers on my team.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted March 21, 2003 I think we should say what team we are, so there's no confusion. I'll keep a list: DrTom - Darkside Dominators Kingpk - Mass Cripplers Marvin - The Shorebirds Verne - Stillwater Stats bravesfan - Island Buzzsaws cartman - Pawtucket Redsox alkeiper - Pocono Poison Hartfan - Calgary Hitmen NoCalMike - Diamond in the Rough Rob Van Dam - The Whole Dam Team Canadian Chris - The Perfect Team Who are: Daegu Golden Lions, A-Team and Wraiths? I'll edit this when I know.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Just for the heck of it, I'm gonna scroll down and reveal my team one by one, and provide commentary..... C- Mike Piazza. Boo-yah. 1B- Jeremy Giambi. Good. He'll FINALLY get playing time in Boston, rack up 30 HRs with a .400 OBP, and I can shift him to the OF if I need. 2B- Fernando Vina- Can't complain, since I like Vina and the 2b crop is weak. Still, he's on the decline, and won't hit for power. Run totals should be good at least. 3B- Edgardo Alfonso- Once again, its all about the OBP. And hitting in front of Bonds. SS- Alex Gonzalez- Ugh. I should find waiver wire talent better. OF- Vladimir Guerrero- YES!! YES!! YES!! 30/30, entering his prime. OF- Jim Edmonds. Assuming he stays healthy, another great player. OF- Hideki Matsui- I was hoping no one else saw him sitting low in the draft order. IF- Hank Blalock- Hoping the George Brett comparisons hold up. Util- Mike Lieberthal. Good flip him for a team that needs a catcher. Res.- Charles Johnson. See above. And he hits in Colorado! Res.- Mark McLemore. LF eligible only. That hurts. Res.- Corey Patterson. Could be a boom for my steal totals. Res.- Willie Harris- Bleh. There's better hitters on waivers. SP- Kerry Wood. Poised for a breakout season. SP- Randy Wolf. One of the best pitchers in the second half last year. RP- Joel Pineiro. Good. RP- Keith Foulke. He's gonna surprise people. P- Wade Miller. Good. P- Jose Contreras. Good be good, or ugly. P- Vicente Padilla. Good. Bench- Brandon Duckworth. Bad year last year, but I'm in love with his K/9 rate. Bench- Paul Shuey. I have no use for middle relievers. Bench- Chan Ho Park- Here's hoping for a turnaround. Excellent draft. I'm looking forward to the season.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Stillwater Stats is Verne's team.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Im willing to trade anyone of my OF other than Bonds and Abreu (Jones, Dunn, Gibbons or any of the bench guys that I have), Phil Nevin (quality 3B if he's healthy..question marks, but I have Tony Batista so I can part with him if I need to..)..Im probably not going to trade any of my pitching except Yan in return for a closer if needed, I sort of neglected my pitching staff (Lopez and Vazquez are nice, but then I dont have much else..) Guest alkeiper Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Nevin's done for the year.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Nevin's done for the year. Is he now..? Shows how much attention I pay to the San Diego padres during ST. Well..I shoulda not drafted him..in the 5th round..argh..
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted March 21, 2003 IMO, my rotation is the best in the league (RJ, Oswalt, Lowe, Millwood and Washburn.). Thing is, my infield (with the exception of Chavez at the hot corner) sucks the meat missile. If you're able to help me out there, I'll be flexible with the guys on that rotation. And yes, Nevin is done for the year. Another reminder to owners, is that Trevor Hoffman is shut down until early August, and Eric Milton won't be back until after the All-Star Break. I might be willing to part with Derek Jeter for a decent starting pitcher You make the proposal.
Guest Rob Van Dam Report post Posted March 21, 2003 I might be willing to part with Derek Jeter for a decent starting pitcher
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted March 21, 2003 I made an offer.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Stupidity! I got rid of Looper, who aparently is the Marlins closer. Last year I had Nunez and I thought he was their closer this year, argh.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 I have Nomar, Damon, and Shea. I'm a fucking huge Boston Red Sox fan, so obviously I'm happy. I get Schilling again, just like last year. That's all I care. Everyone else on my team can eat dick.
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Perfect Team is me. Let's see who I have... C Rodriguez, Ivan (C-Fla) 1B Wilkerson, Brad (1B-Mtl) 2B Alomar, Roberto (2B-NYM) 3B Rolen, Scott (3B-StL) SS Boone, Aaron (3B, SS-Cin) OF Berkman, Lance (CF, LF-Hou) OF Suzuki, Ichiro (RF-Sea) OF Lee, Carlos (LF-CWS) IF Furcal, Rafael (SS-Atl) Util Kendall, Jason (C-Pit) Bench Hudson, Orlando (2B-Tor) Bench Kearns, Austin (RF-Cin) Bench Ramirez, Aramis (3B-Pit) Bench Pena, Carlos (1B-Det) SP Colon, Bartolo (SP-CWS) SP Prior, Mark (SP-ChC) RP Smoltz, John (RP-Atl) RP Hoffman, Trevor (RP-SD) (Out until mid-August? Well, crap.) P Hampton, Mike (SP-Atl) P Beckett, Josh (SP-Fla) P Hernandez, Roberto (RP-Atl) Bench Benson, Kris (SP-Pit) Bench Peavy, Jake (SP-SD) Bench Williamson, Scott (RP-Cin) Well, looks like my guys run either really hot (Ichico, Berkman, Prior, Colon, Smoltz, Rolen) or really bad (Wilkerson, Pena, Hernandez, Hoffman). Not much in between. I like my team, though...just need some more relief pitching. Any offers?
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted March 21, 2003 C-AJ Pierzynski-a pretty soft hitter. a weak position so no complaints. 1B-Todd Helton- 2B-Junior Spivey-had a breakout season last year. hopefully he keeps it up. SS-Rich Aurillia-he's on both my teams. I'm hoping for a return to 2001 form. 3B-Jose Valentin-a productive hitter OF-Eli Marrero-nice backup and occasional starter OF-Mark Kotsay-good...but not great OF-JD Drew-potential, needs to bounce back from down year IF-Paul Konerko-No complaints. I like my 1st Basemen Util-Jose Hernandez-Strikes Out alot, but he's a solid hitter and will improve in Colorado. Bench-Randa, Rivas,Lopez, Crawford, Molina-nothing great. Rivas and Crawford have bright futures. SP-Mark Mulder SP-Matt Morris SP-Freddy Garcia SP-Mark Buerhle RP-Mariano Rivera RP-Byung-Hyun Kim RP-Mike Williams I like all these pitchers if they stay healthy. Alfonseca is shaky, and Veres is a good setup man...doesn't do alot of good in fantasy baseball.
