Of course, I am not paying much attention to at this point as I am still trying to hold down first place in the TSM Fantasy Basketball league, so I am more concerned with that at the moment. This Jeff Suppan guy looks promising. He kicked ass in his first outing and seemed to handle Milwaukee without much trouble yesterday. I need to cut down on my IP as well (+16.2 so far) and while I wouldn't mind having them both on the roster in case of injuries or something, I don't really need 3 starters to fill in with that role (only need a max of 2 really..) I lurked in the top half for a while, then inched up to second, then finally took over first and never let go of it. I won that league last year by 29 points. Garcia is a proven commodity, though I've always felt him to be a little overrated. He's still a 14-18 win pitcher on a good team, though. I should have known, but luck is actually with me since Brandon Lyon got the closer job in Boston, and I figure as bad as the Boston bullpen is, he probably has to be better than Villafuerte. And while I was at it I dumped another Padre, Since Nady hasn't done anything of note since his hot start, and I have plenty of depth at OF, I figured I didnt need him. I also picked up another Padre, Eaton, who looks to have gotten back on track, not that I really need to be making all of these moves for Starting Pitchers. Im going to eventually entertain trade offers for Bobby Abreu if he doesn't turn it around a bit. I can't afford to up and trade him now because hes got power and can steal bases, but hes off to an awfully slow start.. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Guest cartman Report post Posted April 20, 2003 Lyon isn't the Boston closer just yet. They aren't making any one pitcher into a definitive closer yet. He may be in there more often than some others but don't expect him to always get called on for the save situation. Friday night they were warming up Chad fox when they had a save situation, and then boston scored a couple more runs to make it a non-save situation and they still used Fox to finish the game. Vazquez and Moss didnt give up any runs, and Redman went the complete game giving up 2 runs. And Julio gets a save! and damnit, I didnt want this to be my 6000th post.
