To us lesser beings mainstream rappers are the ones who we have heard of.

If Cena needed to battle somebody then have him battle Marky Mark Walberg or 3rd Bass or that kid from Beverly Hills 90210, know what I'm saying it would be the battle of the white boy imposters.

But coming to think about it both Cena and Fabolous are low midcard performers with THE LOOK that really don't amount to much.

And then some of you get so offended when someone calls you people close-minded fucks. OK maybe it isn't Aerosmith or Guns N' Roses or (Insert two Random nouns and/or number to make a band name here) but Fabolous is known by a variety of people AND he makes sense going up against someone who has a rapper gimmick.

Fabolous... isn't he the FootLocker commercial guy? What's next WWE gets Jared from Subway?

You seem to know a bit about the rap game, is Fabolous any good? Anything I've heard has been pretty weak.

Eh...even though the Street Dreams album was ass, I'm still a Fabolous fan. In fact, I actually got the "papacita" name from his song "Right now and later on". Anyway, Fab doesn't have much substance to his rhymes, but I doubt Cena can handle him.

Then they shouldn't be going on like they know what they're talking about. If they're only into mainstream stuff, then they only know part of the whole game and thus, can't really talk or can only talk to a certain and limited extent. Like I said, I'm no hip-hop "geek," so I only talk to a certain point cause I'm not really in the know when it comes to everything concerning hip-hop.

Which is exactly why I said it was funny for someone to refer to him as mainstream since no one in this thread even knows of him. But then again, since none of you even LISTEN to rap, that doesn't surprise me. You guys wouldn't know a well-known rapper anywhere anyway.

Fabolous is relatively popular outside of circles where people listen to more than Pop and Death Metal. He was popular long before he did Reebok ads (comparing him to Jared from Subway was a stupid dig). It was the popularity and record sales that brought the endorsements about, not the other way around.

As for some of your other suggestions:

50 Cent - hot right now, but isn't really a "battle" rapper

Snoop - hasn't said a real rhyme since damn near '93 and is probably the laziest lyricist alive right now. It's a shame how much his skills have deteriorated. Cena could actually BEAT Snoop right now as sad as that is.

Personally, if they absolutely HAVE to do this with Cena I'd much rather them get a real rapper than Kid Rock, Fred Durst or whoever does lead vocals for KORN. But you guys bash the actual rapper. Funny.

What in the name of FUCK is a Fabolous, and why is it appearing at Mania over someone like the Hurricane?

Mania had Ali and Martin and Liberace (at least everyone knew who the hellhe as) and Mr. T.

Mania 19 has a couple of whores, Limp Bizkit and THIS?

Vince, the first step is aditting that there is problem.

Outside of Fabolous, there's no point in having any of these "celebrities" there. Fabolous is at least serving somewhat of a purpose by being there but none of these other ones are. And besides, it was Lord Vince HIMSELF who said that they weren't using celebrities anymore cause "the wrestlers had become like celebrities in their own right." This was at Wrestlemania 2000, which shows you what poor business will make you do (not that all of this other shit in the past year hasn't shown you already).

I dunno know if this is a spoiler, but I'll play it safe:

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

So let me get this straight: RVD isn't on the card and is on heat, but there is a cat fight and a rap battle? What a joke.

He serves NO point. At least the tramps will have a "match." This is a guy, who MAYBE 20% of the arena knows, is wasting everyone's time with God damn rap.

AS, you can't tell me you've got your "Best of Kurt Angle" tape so far up your ass you can't see the POINT of Fabolous taking part in 'Mania. It's part of an angle with a wrestler, whom WWE is actually pretty high on and this is the start of that alleged push. The ERNEST Miller Lite CAT fight girls are there for what exactly?

After reading threads like this, I'm beginning to think that it's not so far-fetched to think of most pro wrestling fans as inbred, backwoods, redneck trailer trash.

If the fans in attendance are anything like the ones here (which they will be) the whole segment is gonna go over like a lead balloon. Fab's gonna be SO outta place.

He'll be Ok if Cena can draw some good heel heat before he comes out.

If not this could be a disaster.

Are CJ, papa, and I the only ones to listen to rap in this thread?

*looks around*

Guess so.

So because some people don't like rap, they are rednecks?

Well, I was reading the thread, so I guess I count.

I don't like Fabolous so much, but this is an idea that at least made me say "neat" as opposed to "oh god Limp Bizkit oh god." I'll never shun 7-8 minutes of creativity.

Because I don't like rap? Because I think wrestlers should be on the show rather than some no name hack? WTF?

It's not the 'not listening to it' that bothers me, it's the bashing and ignorant attitudes towards it.

If you are offended by bashing and ignorant attitudes you have come to the wrong folder.

I know how you feel.

I just roll my eyes because trying to defend it would be a lost cause.

If Fabolous' rhymes have no substance, hope you aren't a Nas or Styles P fan. And whoever mentioned having it be 50 Cent against him....all I have to say is "OMG I MARK FOR 50 CENTS~!!!11" as that seems to be the agenda of alot of fans of the guy who don't even listen to rap.

AS: YOU don't like rap. To YOU Fabolous is a no-name hack. But YOU are not the only person in the world and the WWE has to please more than YOU. No one cares about just YOUR interests.

Especially since you defend having the Cat Fight girls on a show where you also say you'd rather see wrestlers.

I'm hoping this gets Cena over as a face and this 'Fabolous' bombs with the crowd. But then, I do feed on the misfortune of others.

I HATE HATE HATE Eminem.

But I've heard of him.

If Fabolous is such a megastar, why have so few of us heard of him?

I did no such thing. I said the catfight is better than this.

That's the point I was trying to make in the Linkin Park thread. Narrow-minded music fans will only listen to something that has alot of cool solos and shit. It's not all about technique, alot of it has to do with the production, and you'd be stupid to not drop Dr.Dre among guys like Phil Spector. Besides, him being charged with murder is one up on anything Dre's ever been involved in, so the stereotype of rap being all about violence can be broken down right there.

I think I am gonna go listen to the Chronic right now...
