Okay, and I agree with the fact that the Axis couldn't win either. However, if USSR was with them in it, then the story might be different.

Exactly, many don't understand how great the Russians once were. Their Communist fervor rallied them in desperate times to overcome insurmountable odds. The Americans recognized this, and refused to fight them after 1945. They simply had too big of an army, and too many citizens willing to lose their lives for communism. Its truly is a scary think, dictatorships. Of course USSR continously shot themselves in the foot until their ultimate demise in 1989. But Germany and Russia, different ideologies aside, would have wiped the Americans, and the over-rated British and French armies.

US knew how great they were, they knew that the Russians were going to be a problem after WWII, and how powerful they were. Even though they wanted to end the war with Japan, they needed to show the Russians how powerful the US can be. They dropped the first one on Aug. 6th(I think), then the second on Aug. 9th to proove that they aren't something to be fucked with.

I guess it worked because no real shots were fired in the Cold War, I believe.

Ehh, they dropped the bomb on Japan moreso because they needed the end the battle, and sending on ground troops would be too costly. Simply dropping the bomb was the only alternative. In the American's eyes, the Japanese didn't show any humanity during Pearl Harbor, so the well-being of the Japanese was not their number 1 issue. They simply needed to eliminate their pesky opposition who would not surrender.

Russia was envious that the American's had the bomb, but in no way did it intimidate them. Stalin knew fair well that the Allies were going to follow Real Politik. They wanted to keep the Great Alliance together under any circumstances. Besides, how could the American's police their behavior? There wasn't any way to truly prevent the Russians from spreading Communism from behind the Iron Curtain. The Marshall Plan was America's non-violent, yet still painful method of punishing those who turned red, and rewarding those who truly needed economic salvation after the war.

The Cold War did have a fair bit of blood shed. There were many uprisings and revolutions in Czechoslovakia, Austria, France, and Italy. Many of these countries had radical socialists who wanted to join the USSR regime but were ultimately overthrown by the mass populice who wanted the Marshall payments. The Korean War is one example of it. America did everything they could to combat Communism in the 20th century. They ultimately won the battle in 1989, as the Berlin wall symbolized the end of the Cold War.

Yeah, it was to end the war right away, but it was also to show Russia what the US had. It was more of an intimadation(sp) factor then anything else.

Once again, my Prof said this today in class, so I got that from her. I've never been taught that part of history before today, so I am going to take her word on it.

Well yea it was, but did it work? Did it actually scare the Russians in the least? Absolutely not. When you attend class, you should listen to everything your professor says...not just the first halff.

Well, we didn't get that far yet.

Is this possibly up there with the Hitler-Vince analogy? I guess if you think the Cold War was free of violence then yeah, you're well on the way to comparing a wrestling promoter to one of the most pivotal figures in 20th century history. The question is, what next?

Actually, I've always wanted to change my name to mole, but I didn't think you could keep all of the posts you had from before.

I saw that Banky could change his name, so I asked Dames to do it for me. So in a way I copied you, but not really.

And no Rant, you guys can remember just as many great comments that I have made. Besides, I manly post in WWE folder, Movies, and General Chat. Other than that, I never post anywhere else. So I don't see where you see my great comments from.

When comparing something as ridiculous as wrestling to something, Nazi Germany and the Holocaust are strictly off limits. Find something else to compare him to. Preferably French. Only the French could make something like the Reign of Terror funny.

Didn't you once have a Iron Cross/Triple H pic in your sig?

"Lets see, Angel/Buffy love relationship; the best love story ever told"

This comment from Mole in the BTVS thread in Movies seems to have set him off. Every bumped thread was bumped after this comment was made.

I think mole meant Adolf and Eva.

They had quite the torrid love affair, Julianna Marga...(?) painted an emotional portryal of her in the CBS mini-series.

Haha, since Zsasz can't respect my opinion

Few people can.

he has to bring back this.

Well, he didn't have to. He could've chosen practically any one of your threads. Maybe he just flipped a coin.

Too funny if you ask me.

It was at the time. Now it's just a tired farce.
