David Blazenwing 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Besides the Redneck Triathlon wheel last night on Raw, how about bringing in the HIAC? They lowered it for two segments and it did... absolutely nothing. Even in the HHH-Foley brawl at the end of the show, there was not one use of the cage. What a waste. If you looked closely, the Cell was filled with holes last night. I gotta think it was just an old one that they never got rid of. Probably not costing them any extra money at all (well, except for the couple hundred bucks it took for someone to hoist it above the ring... but that's nothing for Vinnie Mac. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 IIRC, Sony releases WWE DVDs now; have for some time. So I would assume they have something worked out. As for waste of money...anything past 2000. Back then, they could afford to break shit without having to worry about cost, since business was booming. And the damage done did affect storylines (mostly the McMahon/Austin stuff). Now, it'll probably be wise on their part to save the extra money.

The Dames 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 My guess is that when the Cell was first used, if it had holes in it, the fans would have suspected that they were going to be climbing the cage...which was NOT the case for HBK/Taker. It was just supposed to be a straight up cage match. It retained that reputation until Foley was thrown off of the top of the cage...and then it was expected to climb up. So, if its expected...the fans wouldn't care if there were holes in it now. Dames

I know that Brock/Taker didn't leave the cell, and that match was perfectly fine without a big bump. The purpose of the cell is so someone can't escape. That's how it should be. Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I thought that when they blew up the DX Express it wasn't a real bus. I mean, they only show them coming out of it at the start of the show and it looks different from all the other DX buses (plain looking, no DX logos on the sides, dull gray color) so I figured it was an old stripped bus that they used for one week only just so they could blow it up. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 10, 2003 What's funny is that we complain about these big wastes of money, but the second we notice something that Vince used for his shows that was cheap as hell, we'd jump on him as well for being so damn cheap when he has all that money to throw around. Ah, Smarks are but a fickle crowd.

Ah, Smarks are but a fickle crowd. That's not true. I wouldn't have cared if -- instead of the Redneck Wheel -- Stone Cold had said. "I have an idea. Pie-eating." And I'm not going to call Vince cheap for NOT smashing up a car/truck/limo every week. Put it like this: If Vince is going to have John Cena smash a TV, then it would be cheesy if it was a cardboard fake TV and I would call him cheap. But why does he have to have Cena smash a TV in the first place? No one would have called Vince cheap if, instead of Cena smashing a TV, he showed his anger another way (throwing his hat, slapping the wall, saying "GRRR!"). I'd call it freaking hilarious if someone started going all out on a cardboard TV. They could throw it on the floor, watch it sorta bounce and make a dull "thimp" sound and then get pissed off even more and be like "DAMMIT! FIRST THEY SCREW ME OVER IN MY MATCH, THEN THEY GIVE ME A PROP TV! I HATE THIS JOB!" Also: someone should acknowledge the Magic Phone or the Omniscient Cameraman. But if you are going to have people climbing on the cell with any regularity, then some strategically placed holes on the walls of the cage aren't a bad idea at all. Better to have those than guys helplessly trying to scale the cage without success. If you don't like the holes on the sides of the HIAC, think of a rock-climbing wall without any grips. THAT would not be a whole lot of fun.

He was worried about making it to the top given his physical state at the time and how much trouble he had getting up it in the first HIAC. I guess they just decided to keep them to make it easier for everyone else.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 When Triple H went ballastic and broke everything to build for KOTR Wasn't that on an episode of SmackDown when he smashed up a camera and an announce table? I wonder how much those nWo leaflets were costing WCW? Were these the same leaflets that read "Tradition bites, nWo 4 life" and were dropped from the rafters on an episode of Nitro? ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 I think whenever they destroy an old set in wrestling is a waste of money. Examples being before the logo change, the destruction of the Nitro set...as well as the destruction of the Old Smackdown Set via a Rhyno Gore. They could feasibly use those sets over again sometime, repackage them or something. Of course, I only say this because I miss the old Smackdown Ovals... Guest two_tuff_toddy Report post Posted June 11, 2003 I thought when Austin ripped up the Titantron that was a bit unecessary. I could be mistaken but I would imagine those would be quite expensive. Inferno Match - Good idea in theory but horrible in execution. Pretty much impossible to be good unless you have some dumbass who doesn't mind being caught on fire. ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 I thought when Austin ripped up the Titantron that was a bit unecessary. I could be mistaken but I would imagine those would be quite expensive. I think the reason that they ripped up that Titantron before was that they were getting a better, new and improved Titantron with clearer picture quality or something like that. Still, it goes back to what I said about old sets in my post above this one... Inferno Match - Good idea in theory but horrible in execution. Pretty much impossible to be good unless you have some dumbass who doesn't mind being caught on fire. Which is why I think Kane has lost EVERY SINGLE ONE!
