Bored 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 Why is this crap on ESPN? The X-Games, even though some of what they do is cool, is not a real sporting event no matter what anyone says. As for the Little League World Series, get these brats off my t.v. It used to be they'd only show like two games of the whole thing which was fine but now they show qualifying games that no one outside of the parents of the kids could give two shits about. The worst thing of all is it preempts there two best shows Pardon the Interruption and Baseball Tonight.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 I thought the guys from PTI were on vacation. As for Baseball Tonight well don't they show it on ESPN2?
the max 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 I don't mind the LLWS. The games have been good this year.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted August 21, 2003 Yeah, I was not pleased with the lack of Around The Horn and PTI. ATH is a bit annoying at times but you can't get Woody Paige rambling about God knows what anywhere else,so I have become a fan. And Tony and Wilbon have been on and off vacation for what seems like forever now, I don't think they've hosted a show together outside of last Friday's in months. It's usually just one of them and then a co-host like Bob Ryan or someone. But hey! I can find out what the Texas Team's 12 year old catcher's favorite movie is! SPOILER: It is Bad Boys 2. END SPOILER.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 X-Games is on because it is subliminal advertising for the movie GRIND.
Bored 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 X-Games is on because it is subliminal advertising for the movie GRIND. I've always saw it as not so subliminal advertising for Mountain Dew. Its worked because its actually convinced people in the 12-18 year old demographic that Mountain Dew doesn't taste like ass.
Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 Speaking of Mountain Dew, has anyone tried the Blue Mountain Dew slurpee flavour. (Or are slurpees not as popular everywhere else - Winnipeg is the proven Slurpee capital of the world. It's funny, we bitch about the -30C weather in the winter but chug those slurpees down in the summer. Maybe it's not so funny) Damn is that blue mountain Dew good. Is there actually a blue Mountain Dew drink or just the regular and Code Red?
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 I thought the guys from PTI were on vacation. As for Baseball Tonight well don't they show it on ESPN2? Big Suprise. No...because if one has the Little League World Series the other has the X-Games on.
JHawk 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 Wouldn't it be an oxymoron to have Baseball Tonight on during the afternoon anyway? And if ESPN2 could show a Magic: The Gathering tournament a few years ago, I'll gladly watch the LLWS instead.
Guest Smues Report post Posted August 21, 2003 I had nothing against the x-games until it was advertised as off the hizzle fo shizzle dizzle. Now I'll never watch a second of it again.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 21, 2003 yes...because ESPN must show what you want them too. Fans of other events be damned, I want my sports opinion shows! How dare they make me get my baseball news from Sportscenter!
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 PTI was fine at first, but I'm so sick of Tony Kornheiser, its pathetic. Keep Wilbon, because the man will an give an opinion on sports. He goes off on the occasional rant about other things, but nowhere NEAR as much as Kornheiser.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 They are also showing the World Series of Poker. All of which are entertaining to a point. Plus, there isn't shit else on.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 How about the Great Outdoor Games? Log Cutting, Dog Jumping and Hunting amongst other events.. give me LLWS or the X Games (to a point) over that any day of the week... And actually, I like the Winter X Games more for some reason. The Summer X Games haven't been the same since they moved most of the stuff indoors.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 They are also showing the World Series of Poker. All of which are entertaining to a point. Plus, there isn't shit else on. World Series of Poker (and the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel) is strangely compelling. Although seeing Phil Hellmuth lose may be partially responsible for that. But all things considered, I'd rather watch poker and X-Games over baseball any day...

starvenger 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 Come on now, Tony Hawk landed another 900 yesterday. Bah, he's been doing that for a few years now. If he doesn't start landing 1080s I'm not gonna be impressed.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 I don't think the little league World Series is a problem. It's a legitimate sport, with a 60+ year history.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 Plus, if you love baseball, it's a blast to watch. Just a bunch of kids, no egos, no $$$, just pure baseball (minus the aluminum bats). I find myself recalling my own little league days while watching the LLWS.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted August 21, 2003 Speaking of Snoop. Is their anything that man won't shill for? There is one thing Snoop won't shill for........Snoop won't shill for THE MAN! Snoop disassociated himself from the Girls Gone Wild stuff, because he said they show too many White girls and not enough Blacks and Hispanics.... Which is admirable in some sense, but I'm actually proud that I don't see very many sisters acting like dumb, drunk sluts on TV.

World Series of Poker (and the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel) is strangely compelling. Although seeing Phil Hellmuth lose may be partially responsible for that. Poor Phil. They always mention that he was a World Champ, in 1989. That's almost 15 years ago. He keeps getting to the final table on WPT and then some amateur takes him down. I find myself recalling my own little league days while watching the LLWS. And some of these kids can PLAY! There have been some damn good plays in the games I have watched. Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2003 (edited) I don't know if anybody famous in Baseball was in the LLWS, but Mets pick Lastings Milledge did play in 1997. And no.. I will not mention his problems with 12 year old girls that sorta hampered the Mets enthusiasm -- and I did watch a game today between Japan and Mexico. Nothing much stood out, except for Endoh's pitching motion and Jose Santos, the kid who looks like Paul Pfeiffer from Wonder Years. (Jose wore glasses while up at the plate and got a double) Although.. this sentance on littleleague.org is.. odd Dougherty, Delaware’s version of the gregarious Jose Lima, tried to help himself out in the 4th when he sent a moon shot to right-center field. Gregarious? Jose Lima? Cody Bernard did unleash the power, three home runs in one game, then he got hit with the bases loaded to bring in the winning run. This kid has the most unfortunate name in the LLWS Edited August 21, 2003 by Rob E Dangerously
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2003 George Brett played in the LLWS. I think Wade Boggs may have as well.
