Brock Lesnar's new nickname

Recommended Posts

"If this is the "Real" Brock Lesnar, what happens when he turns face again? Will he be the REAL Real Brock Lesnar?"

Nah he'll be 'I Can't Believe Its Not' Brock Lesnar.

I was watching the Cena-Eddy match from SD and was reminded of back when Cena first started using the gimmick.

Cole tried to push calling him "C-Note." It wouldn't have been too bad if he was doing a pop-star/boyband gimmick because it would have fit--but a rapper?

There there was his tag partner: one week it was B-2, then Double B, then B-Squared, then the next "Bling Bling." They weren't too bad by themselves, but the way the name changed weekly was lame.

I thought "Bling Bling" Buchanan was hilarious. Too bad I didn't like the man behind the gimmick. :(

the thing is Cena was too good for the partners, i'm glad they let him go solo rather than wasting him in the tag ranks

So what do you guys think are great wrestling nicknames?

-The Nature Boy-

Yeah some find it pretty stupid and I'm still trying to figure out what exactly a 'Nature Boy' is, but you can't imagine Ric Flair without this nickname. It fits him so well.

-The Crippler-

Note to WWE, let Benoit wear his old tights, stop with the Toothless Aggression bullshit and start calling him 'The Crippler' again.

-The Hitman-

A great nickname. It sounded so right with the name Bret Hart and fitted with his in ring character.

-Stone Cold-

Probably the best wrestling nickname in the world. Although I can't quite decide if it should be filed under the nickname category.

Reminds me of the Austin promo in which Steve tried to figure out the same thing.

Austin: Do you like nature? Do you like boys? Wait don't answer that!

Ugh don't remind me of that promo. It was slap bang in the middle of Austins unmotivated period and I believe was said right after he 'pissed' on Arn Anderson.

On the other hand--I thought the gimmick was lame but Buchanan wasn't bad for a hoss. At least he had some decent mobility and the cool kicks going for him.

And yeah, the Austin mocking the Nature Boy name was during his feud with Flair--he left just after he was supposed to be Flair's personal assistant which was the night he was supposed to job to THE NEXT BIG THING Brock Lesnar.

So, we come full-circle.

I was worried about Latino Heat at first, since it was named after that weekend show, but it isn't hurting him now, of course.

Speaking of names taken from wrestling shows--remember the week or so that Scott Steiner was "White Thunder" back in WCW? That was a crappy nickname...

Although he also tried "Superstar" briefly as part of his shameless attempt to completely rip off Graham.

Oh God. I remember when Buff Bagwell would do his ring intros and call him that.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry.

"Human Suplex Machine" wasn't too great either.

Now I love Chris Jericho (in a totally hetero way, of course), but "King of Bling Bling" is kinda lame.

I liked it, though it never made sense--like, are there supposedly machines out there built just for suplexing people?

While it made more sense, the WWE version of the name for "Tazz"--"Human Wrecking Machine"--sucked much more to me. So was Tazz going to get in the ring and swing his balls at you?

Of course, the bone-headed way they handled Taz(z) could be a topic all on its own, but I see your point.

And what kind of dumbass would get themselves caught in a Suplex Machine? "Hey, look, a Suplex Machine. Let's go check it ou--AAAAAH! It just Germaned me! AAAAAH! A vertical!"

Actually, I thought Bull Buchanan's constant nickname changes were kind of clever, because a lot of rappers have 4 or 5 nicknames that they use interchangeably. Jay-Z, for example, is "Jay-Hovah," "Young Hov," "Jigga" and some other ones that I can't think of right now. Thing is, I douby WWE was being clever intentionally. They were probably just being flaky about picking a name for him.

My favorites:

"Cereberal Assassin"--As much as I hate HHH, this is an awesome name. Applies more to his backstage work than his ring work though.

"The Natural"--Butch Reed had a goofy gimmick...a black guy with blonde hair. But if you play it more straight--a person is a "natural" at wrestling, it's a good nickname.

"Hitman" -no explanation needed.

"Stone Cold" -ditto.

"Mouth of the South" -That name probably wouldn't have worked with anyone besides Jimmy Heart, but I like.

"Playboy" -nobody is calling for the Buddy Rose comeback, but I am surprised nobody has picked up this name. Especially since there have been several rich guy snob gimmicks it would be a natural for.

I liked the Chosen One. It worked on two levels, one for smarks and one for marks. Plus, it was a cool lead-in to JJ's theme song: "Ch-ch-chosen one."
