I was thinking the same thing and he's an RVD fan. RVD can't throw a punch or swing a chair to save his life. There is a reason why he uses his feet so much. Or at least use to.

Question for those that say that working stiff makes wrestling look more real and thus better ... what about the fact that wrestling ISN'T REAL?!? They shouldn't have to stiff each other to make it look real, because it's not real. I don't mean that their kicks and punches should miss by 10 inches, but there's no need to really kick or punch anyone.

There's a big difference, IMO, between being stiff and being sloppy. For example...

Vader=Stiff

Bradshaw=Sloppy

Uhhh... no. Vader was about as sloppy as the day is long as he legitamite hurting several workers with his punches and powerbombs. He certainly doesn't belong in the category of workers who could hit you hard with no after effects like Fit Finley.

On the other side, I can't remember Bradshaw hurting anyone.

I definately see his point.....from a workers standpoint. I think he is a little hazy in the department of hardcore wrestlers that wrestle stiff. Stiff wrestling was around way before the "hardcore" style and there is a reason for it. Hell, Stan Hanson and Terry Funk are two very stiff wrestlers but there is no doubt they can work. Same with guys like Brody, Vader, Kobashi, American Dragon, etc. I personally don't go for all of the brutilizing the shit out of everybody kinda wrestler. I enjoy the stiff, lets make this a belivable match kinda wrestler. That makes for top notch action. And you know that you are watching some tough guys when they wrestle that style. And I also disagree with him when he says about all the injuries. Hey, plain and simple, some can hack it and some can't. If you can't wrestle this style, then don't. Just don't criticise other "great" workers that do.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but Big Show hasn't exactly set the hospital ward a fire with all the people he's hurt either. Quite frankly he doesn't fit either definition.

Stiff = Fit Finley, Kawada

Sloppy = Rick Steiner

Lance storm has maybe had one match that I could begrudgingly consider edging ****, therefore, I usually laugh when I read his commentary about other wrestlers. I love how people praise him as a great worker when he's done virtually no great work.

maybe. I haven't watched in a long time, and it's probably not at all as good as I remember it, but it's certainly better than his ECW blown spot frenzy shit, and anything else I've seen him do.

Like I said, begrudgingly close to 4 stars..

OMG, i love people like that!! If you'd ever watched anything besides WWE, you would know what we mean. I guess you don't see anything special about Eddy Guerrero, eh? What about Rey Mesterio Jr.?

So then I guess this means your punches and chairshots can look like the drizzling shits, huh Lance ?

As if you could do any better.

Wow- I thought people were done making that asinine argument that holds no water.

So in your view a movie critic should never be able to review a movie. Okay then.

Both Eddie & Rey have done, and continue to do, stuff that's way better than Storm has done (and I like Lance).

And I believe AoO has watched stuff other than the WWF/E. I'm pretty sure I've seen him post in the puro folder.

Love people like what, RVDMARK, people that realize his ECW slopfests were bad, and that he's never done anything notable in Japan, either? Perhaps you were referring to that STELLAR run he had in WCW in stable with Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Yes sir, that character NEVER got stale, did it? Even his stuff with Jericho as the Thrillseekers in SMW isn't too hot from the little I've seen regarding it.

Now, my question to you is, as someone who has clearly thoroughly explored the realm of wrestling outside of the WWE, what would some of Storm's defining classics be?

Rey and Eddy had a ***** MOTYC in 97, not to mention stellar careers before and after it. I actually do happen to think they're quite good, as I've seen them wrestle all over the world.

Now, do you have a point or are you going to continue making assumptions?

Hmmm....what about Impact Players vs. RVD / Lynn?

So much for being a "smart" mark.

if you knew anything about actually being in the ring or "trained" to be a wrestler, then you would know that you are taught to destroy someone with a punch or kick before you make it look botched or "fake".

Every match he had in ECW was full of flip-flop silliness that built to nothing, and bad selling. ESPEICALLY his stuff with RVD. None of storm's strikes (save the occasional superkick or top rope heel kick) looks believable. His punches whiff, his forearms barely tap people. He also has a bad tendency to blow spots, and make things look awkward.

I can gladly say that, actually, I do no nothing about being in the ring or being "trained" to be a wrestler. And yet I find it hard to believe that anywhere that's considered legitimate is training people to destroy someone with a punch or kick. I'm presuming that they're being trained to make it look as if they're destroying their opponent without actually hurting them. No, they're not being trained to botch a move, nor are they being trained to look fake. But to actually destroy someone with a punch or kick shouldn't be on the agenda. It's one thing to strech someone (e.g. the Hart Family Dungeon) ... it's another thing to throw real punches.

If I wanted to watch people actually hit each other, I'd watch MMA or boxing or a fucking cockfight. Not professional wrestling.

I was using the word destroy figuratively. You are NEVER suppost to botch a spot. I don't mean mess up either. I mean that you are NEVER suppost to barely hit or totally miss someone with a punch or kick. That's what I meant. By the way I could give a shit what you like to watch.....I wasn't arguing that point. I was just telling you how people are trained. So enjoy you cockfights..........

Trish and Victoria can be very stiff in their matches (Trish lost a tooth to Victoria, and Victoria drew blood from Buh Buh Ray Dudley's mouth during the tables match). Yet Trish's style is considered the fanciful of all wrestlers. Trish is now being too careful.

Molly, in contrast, goes out of her way to avoid injuring her opponent. Although she can, she never piledrives or even DDT's her opponent, despite taking a lot of them herself.

Botched spots happen. Minami Toyota botches more spots in one match than most wrestlers do in a year, yet she is (or was) so fast that she makes the botches look like part of her repetoire.
