My picks:

- Tito Ortiz over Randy Couture via TKO, Rd. 4

( Ortiz takes some lumps early, but survives through his underrated ground game and adaptability. He eventually turns it up against the tiring Coture, putting him away with elbows from side mount)

- Gan McGee over Tim Sylvia via TKO, Rd.2

( Gan takes some nasty shots standing, but evntually wades his way through to land some shots of his own, before eventually getting his fellow giant to the ground. From there, he'll hurt him enough with G&P enough to tire Sylvia out for the 2nd, and finishes Tim from mounted strikes)

- Vladimir Matyushenko over Andrei Arlovski via Judges Decision

( Vladimir takes this to the ground early and often, bloodying up Andrei on the ground with sporadic G&P. However Arlovski stages a comeback in the 3rd, as Vladimir tries to coast for the JD as usual, giving Matyushenko a few scares on the feet. However, with two rounds under his belt, Matyushenko holds on for the Unanimous Decision)

- Rich Franklin over Edwin Dewees via submission, Rd.1

(Franklin shows of his stand-up skills by schooling Dewees with slick punches and kicks. Edwin eventually decides to bring it the ground, but, ending up in Franklin's guard, he ends up getting subbed in his flustered state)

- David Louiseau over Jorge Rivera via KO, Rd.1

( "The Crow" shows he's ready for the top fighters at 185 by doing what he does best: splitting the overmatched Rivera's wig before KO'ing in the middle of the round)

- Karo Parisyan over Dave Strasser via JD

( Haven't seen much of Karo, but if he's as crafty as they say, I imagine he pulls off the upset against a Strasser who'll underestimate him)

- Nick Diaz over Jeremy Jackson via JD

( Jeremy comes in less overconfident than in the rematch between the two, and wins a few striking exchanges. However, in the end, the Cesar Gracie's students ground skills will allow him to control enough of the match and get off enough G&P to get the JD)

- Caol Uno over Hermes Franca via TKO, Rd.3

( The veteren Uno overcomes the upstart Franca's early barrage of submission attempts to wear him down with G&P, before pulling ahead in the stand-up striking as well before finishing off the ATT member late in the fight)

- Josh Thomspon over Gerald Strebendt via TKO

( Thompson makes good in his long awaiated [and much delayed] UFC debut, TKO'ing a game yet overmatched Gerald)

I wouldn't say that as UFC 45 will probably have a bunch of throwback fighters on it since it's the 10th ani show. I believe Tank vs. Cabbage will be on it.

Royce Gracie vs Matt Hughes is rumored...Good god that would be a epic beating.

Tank fighting a vegatable might finally net Tank a win again, I'm all for it...

Cabbage has a strong ground game and could do some serious damage to the tank treads. But Cabbage has a history of injuries so if Tank starts the fight in full offensive, Tank could shred Cabbage in minutes.

Andy idea when UFC is doing the next PPV in Atlantic City? I get press tickets when they come around here, and the shit is actually second row, in the section that you can't even buy :)

And the press room with all the coffee, granola bars, and Doritos you can eat wasn't bad.

I don't care about anything but the LHW fight. The Heavyweight Title bout has freakshow appeal, but if they're going to try and offer some prestige for their World Title, shouldn't they try and make fights with guys who have earned the spot? What has Gan Mcgee done? Honestly, I don't know.

The LHW fight is weird for me. I'd normally want Randy to win, because I enjoy his fights and character, but Tito winning would be good for the sport in general. He's the top star and where he goes so does the UFC. Also, I want Liddel to take that title from him later on down the road.

Did anybody happen to see Tito on Jay Leno last night? Seems the UFC is really marketing all out this week preceeding the bout. Personally, I would've prefered they do a long, steady stream of TV appearences (as they did for Ortiz/Shamrock), as this seems kind of last minute. But in the end, it's great to have MMA and it's fighter's get any national TV exposure, especially on a show like Leno.

Here's the schedule of appearences this week from the two main event fighters (from MMAWeekly.com):

Friday, Sept. 19 - Tito Ortiz on Jay Leno

Monday, Sept. 22 - Randy & Tito on ABC (Los Angeles) Sports Zone Show, immediately following Monday Night Football

Tuesday, Sept. 23 - Randy & Tito on Best Damn Sports Show Period. Fox Sports Network, check your local listings.

Wednesday, Sept. 24 - Tito on Carson Daly Show That is 1:30 am on technically Wednesday morning but it's Tuesday night.

I saw Tito on Leno. A pretty standard piece with Ryan Seacrest getting "beat up". Jay asked "does anyone know what Ultimate Fighting is" and there was a brief pause and then everyone clapped (in other words, someone told them to clap) - not a very good sign. Then Jay remarked at how brutal it is, which also isn't very good for the image of the sport. Tito and Ryan worked the bag, Limp Bizkit was playing in the background (Break Stuff). Tito applied an armbar, triangle, a few light slams. His BJJ technique was very good, very smooth, of course Seacrest was letting him do it, Couture might be harder ;) Iha and another guy were in it briefly, Ryan asked the other guy if he tells his date what he does for a living, he said no. Seacrest remarked on the other guys pecks. Iha said something, I have no idea what. Buffer shilled the PPV. At the end Tito came out on stage at the end, very nicely dressed, let Jay hold the title and invited him to put it around his waist when he wins at the next show.

Not feeling the love here for the show. I ordered the last UFC show and liked it (and the last 2 Pride shows) but besides Tito and Randy I don't recognize anyone on the show. Any honest outlooks on how good the show should be?

The show should be very exciting... it's just, when I "give love" to a show, it should really deserve it (IE: Pride Gp). Any one of those matches would have been a main event... this is JUST a main event. UFC and Zuffa are clueless as to how to run a promotion - they didn't capitalize on the draw that UFC 40 was (look at the numbers, they had the audience at UFC 41 and totally dropped the ball) and they stacked this card with a bunch of guys no one except the hardcore of hardcore fans know. They have to earn the love - and yes, Couture vs. Tito is a great match, and yes they do have some exciting fighters on the card - but they spent their money on getting a infomercial on at 4 in the moring rather than paying for first-class fighters like PRIDE does.

This is not the card I would use to hook someone on MMA, so that's why I didn't put the same effort as I did the previous MMA cards... that, and I too don't know half the guys on this card.

I have a proposal to make...

Whatever faith you have, whatever religion you follow, whatever belief you may have developed in your lifetime...

Drop it.

..And become a Naturalist.

Because tonight it's been proven, Randy Couture is GOD.

As I said elsewhere:

"... man, was I wrong. Complete and utter dominance by Randy. I mean, he took Tito's back , what, 3 times? Unreal. I think Tito may have had 30 seconds of semi-effective offense with some knees to the body, and nothing more. All props go to the #1 LHW in the world, Randy "The Natual" Couture.

Well, at least Andrei is bringing my dream of dual Russian (or, at least of formerly Soviet countries) HW champs to fruition. But I still shed a tear for Tito... and Uno. FUCK."

I'm a big Couture fan - I've been so since I saw him dominate at UFC 13 - I know you can never count Randy out... yet I always do it. I don't know if it's us underestimating the Natural or overestimating his opponents, but one thing is for sure, Randy Couture makes a living out of proving people wrong. He made Chuck look like an amateur and made Tito look like a punk. The guy is a fucking monster.
