If I where making a rap hall of fame

Recommended Posts

Guest S&M

I know this isn't all of them, AND I know SOME of these guys aren't retired but I've heard lots of talk that Jigga and DMX are done making albums after these last few. If I know their still active I'm going to make a seperate place for them, kinda a "as soon as they retired their in" kinda shit. Also producers should be alowed in too.

1. Grandmaster Flash

2. RUN DMC

3. Public Enemy

4. N.W.A

5. Biggie

6. Tupac

7. DMX

8. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

9. The Beastie Boys

10. Ice Cube

11. Ice T

12. Big Pun

13. Three 6 Mafia

14. Master P (I know I know, but he sold A LOT of albums)

15. Jay Z

PRODUCERS:::::::

This is a bit shaky, just about every producer I know of, is still in the game. Here's the guys I feel like will be in a hall of fame for producing if and when they retired/are shot dead in the street

Suge Knight

Sean Combs

Dre.

Master P

Irv Gotti

Here's the guys that I feel are a given to be accepted in if and when they retire!

Nas

Rakim

LL Cool J

Gang Starr

Snoop Dogg

Wu Tang Clan

Suge Knight, Irv Gotti and Master P shouldn't be on the producers list. Being EXECUTIVE PRODUCER of a album isn't the same as producing a track (I know that some Puff Daddy arguments will come up, but he has a million times more creds then these guys)

Plus your list is a little new school heavy. And where is MC Lyte, Da Brat and Salt and Peppa...

And Ma$e deserves to be on there if DMX is. I mean, DMX just has one REALLY long album.

My inagural Hip-Hop Hall-of-Fame would include the following:

Run-DMC

Grandmaster Flash

Public Enemy

KRS-One

Tupac Shakur

The Notorious B.I.G.

MC Lyte

Ice-T

LL Cool J

A Tribe Called Quest

Rakim should get any spot over KRS. ESPECIALLY when it was said that Rakim was the ghost writer for alot of KRS's songs back in the day.

And if no Big Daddy Kane is on the list, I won't respect it...

my version

Run DMC

Kurtis Blow

LL Cool J

Beastie Boys

Rakim

BDP

Wu Tang

Tupac

Biggie

NWA

Grandmaster flash

A Tribe Called Quest

Outkast

MC Lyte

Salt N Peppa

Jay Z

Rather pointless making a THIRD one in all but I felt like doing it so I did. And BTW, maybe TSM should make one where Everyone's input is added...hmmm

3-6 Mafia in rap HOF  They're garbage. Mine would be:

Kool Herc

Public Enemy

Pac

Biggie

Kool G Rap

Rakim

Big Daddy Kane

ATCQ

NWA

Grandmaster Flash

Ice T

Run DMC

Kurtis Blow

Whodini

Sugar Hill Gang

Thats all I can think of now, So I might've forgotten some names.

Okay, now I might get jumped on for this, but what exactly did Whodini do? They always get propelled up these list, and maybe I am missing something, but they weren't anything spectacular in my eyes.

They get all the love Kool Moe Dee should be getting.

S&M as far your Producer list none (except Dre) are actually beat makers maybe Irv and Puff (Maybe) and they're lazy producers/beatmakers as well. Puff samples old 70's and 80's without changing/rearranging anything, and Irv just samples Puff's beats for Ashanti and go to Suge for Pac samples for Ja Rule.

You mean to tell me you don't think DMX deserves to be in a Rap hall of fame?

As far as my list being new school, I didn't see anyone but DMX and Jigga that was really "new school" everyone else that I know of is either retired or damn close!

So you wasn't feeling "The Freaks come out at night" or "Friends"

Yeah, I was...and Don't Rock the Boat. But what really makes them great besides 3 head nodders.

uhhh X has been doin this for nineteen years, this is his last album this year, he's done after this!

I'm not a huge X fan or anything, but I know he's pretty respected in the rap community! I think he's just as good as some of the other names thrown out here!

when you say blondie you men Em right? Em's only been out there for what four years? Three MAYBE four albums if you count 8 mile which had like five songs from him on it? Em will with out a doubt in my mind be in it, much like Nas, when he's done, I think everyone will give him a lot more cred than they do now! I didn't think my list was THAT new school that people would be wanting Fifty, Em, Ja Rule guys that that on there!

If you're going to have a rap hall of fame there should be some guidelines. The Rock n Roll HOF has a rule that an artist isn't eligible for 25 years after the release their first album. Maybe it would be 15 years for Rap. This is only hypothetical but you can't just rush and put 20 people in at the same time.

Quick question. Will the Rock and Roll HOF ever induct rap and hip-hop artists?

I believe they should have their own, their not rock n' roll, their seperate, I'd say 15 years would be good that means we're dealing with what '88, '88 seems like as good of a place as any to start!
