Interesting soundscapes, vocals that are up there with the most irritating of shrieky prog howls, and...well, really a bunch of blathered nonsense. I know that you don't necessarily need coherence in your lyrics, but what I could understand was the most awfully pretentious babble I've heard in a long time. The avant garde and death metal fans may hate me for this but I like music that's somewhat melodic. I also find it very weird they were selling this CD at Wal-Mart of all places...I don't think that any regular Wal-Mart shopper would be interested in the Mars Volta.
