KingPK 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 Is it me, or does Tampa always try to stir shit up at the end of the season? I remember a few years ago a bit of a tiff with Boston and now we've got a beanball war tonight in Toronto. Sox MN is now 3, 2 if Seattle goes down tonight to the Angels (Anaheim leads 1-0 in the 4th)
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 God Damnit.. Who wants to get Graeme Lloyd the hell away from the Royals? KC is 1 and 14 in the games that Boomerang Graeme pitched. WORST. ROYALS. RELIEVER. EVER.
treble 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 So, is Jerry Manuel out of a job? I gotta think he is, I mean, the division was there's for the taking before they went and got swept by the Twins.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 (edited) A's win in 10. About half-hour later Tim Salmon ends the Mariners hopes with a walk-off homerun in the 11th. A's are YOUR (well ok maybe just mine) 13-time A.L. West Champs. Barring a historic collapse by the Red Sox and the Mariners running the table the ALDS match-ups are pretty much set: Red Sox at A's Twins at Yankees Edited September 24, 2003 by Bored
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 Bring on the Yankees! I think? Good race for AL Batting crown. Mueller .325 Ramirez .325 Ordonez .324 Jeter .323 Wells .
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 I'm hoping the Twins will be able to turn it on for the Yanks and get them out of the first round just to see the fallout. As for Manuel, yes, he's gone. He was on the fence a few months back but now that they've gone and completely blown it, I'd say he's gone, even though it wasn't really anything he did. He wasn't out there giving up the runs or not swinging the bat well. I was watching some of the Tigers/Royals game and caught the part where Llyod was pitching and I must say, I felt bad for the guy. Sounds like he does that on a regular basis, but perhaps not seeing him all the time (unlike Alfonseca) and seeing him be so horrible, got some sympathy out of me. Not like the Royals had a shot in the game, anyway.

I gotta think he is, I mean, the division was there's for the taking before they went and got swept by the Twins. I'd like to hope he is. I mean, what a way to just let it all slip through your fingers. The same goes for Kansas City's manager. Fire him too.

Because I think Pena should be manager of the year.
Mik 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Marlins baby. Beckett is untouchable tonight. Bullpen could be the only downfall. Otherwise have a nice offseason Philly.
Guest Bobby Cox is God Report post Posted September 25, 2003 I find it very funny that tonight could be the end of the Phillies season. Haha, I hope all those critics who said they would dethrone the Braves are all watching that game right now. And I never thought I'd say it, but go fucking Marlins. 8-1 Braves lead, I can feel the home field.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 6-0 Marlins. I give up.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 I misspoke. When I said I give up, I meant to say that the Phillies would no doubt make this game competitive again. I don't know where that came from.
treble 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Can you give up on the rest of the season?

Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Time to give up. Phillies - you guys choked. Big time. Lost 2/3 to the Pirates, lost 2/3 to the Reds at home, and now lost 2 to the Marlins. Fuck.
Mik 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 *Does Happy Dance all through bedroom and living room* I'm so glad McKeon is going with Urbina in the closer role over Looper. I hate Looper.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 And Burkett continues his 1st inning ineptude. Ah well, Seattle's off tomorrow, so there's one more shot to clinch at home. Who would've thought David Ortiz would put up 31 HR and 100 RBI?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 I really don't fault the players. 1 run losses are bad luck more than anything.

Sounds like he does that on a regular basis, but perhaps not seeing him all the time (unlike Alfonseca) and seeing him be so horrible, got some sympathy out of me. Not like the Royals had a shot in the game, anyway. Graeme seems like a nice guy, but he fucking sucks as a pitcher. The Royals are 1 and 14 in the games that he's pitched. Not to mention that he was acquired as a 'left-handed specialist' and Pena never really used him in that role. Oh yeah, it didn't help that he SUCKED against LHB too. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Who would've thought David Ortiz would put up 31 HR and 100 RBI? Like I told you Boston fans before the season. Its not too late to embrace Theo Epstein and his sabermetric revolution. And Bill Mueller is your A.L. batting champion. Shea who?
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Useless info and question 16 teams will have winning records and 2 more have 81 wins right know. Anyone have any idea what the record for most winning teams in a year is?
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Jesus christ I hate the Phillies. 6-0. I was content. It was a good season that was coming to an end. Then the comeback. Dangling the carrot out there just to yank it away again. FUCK. And people wonder why Philly fans are nuts. Off topic, Spiff or Al, I have an extra ticket to Saturday's game, either of you want? the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Yeah, my cousin has to work now because a guy called off for a funeral. And everyone else is either not a baseball fan or jerking off to the thought of Saturday being the first day of bow hunting season.
