EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Off topic, Spiff or Al, I have an extra ticket to Saturday's game, either of you want? No thanks. I live two hours away, and I have work on weekends.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Wow! Shawn Estes throws a complete game shutout??? When did we enter the Bizarro World? Cubs should go at least 3-1 over their last 4....that's gonna make it really hard on the Astros to catch up. Hmmm....maybe I better start chilling the champagne. Mik 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Yeah it's funny actually that Al and myself are from the same area of the world (NEPA) but we are rooting for opposite teams.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 25, 2003 It was the reds... even OUR pitching staff could 4 hit the sorry excuse of a line up we have
the max 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Yeah it's funny actually that Al and myself are from the same area of the world (NEPA) but we are rooting for opposite teams. There's gonna be a throwdown, isn't there?
Mik 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Well, maybe if I still lived at home. ) Been away in Ithaca for four years now, soon to be moving to California, but my mother still lives in the area. So maybe he will come and throw down with me when I go home to visit her.

JangoFett4Hire 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Sox now lead 12-1 in the bottom of the fifth... there's still 3 innings left for Choken One to be right about the Sox choking... there's still time... hexhexhexjinxjinxjinx
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Oh don't worry they'll choke in the division series. MWAHAHAHAHA Its gonna be 1988 and 1990 all over again. Too bad Clemens ain't around to get ejected. Note: Poster has no clue who's going to win the series but it his duty to his favorite team to talk shit against the upcoming opponent.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Well Mik, looks like your team is taking the Wild Card. Congratulations. No our milk here. We had to beat the Marlins to win, and we didn't make it. There's always next year. A few independant thoughts about the Marlins.... -The best move they ever made was getting Jeff Torberg out of there. He was a cancer to the pitching staff, and if they kept him Josh Beckett and Brad Penny would have doubtless joined AJ Burnett on the DL. -Ivan Rodriguez has rejuvenated his career in a big way. He's on his way to a big contract, and the HOF. -Every move the Marlins made (I-Rod, Urbina, Conine, Juan Pierre) went the Marlins way. That's unusual for any team. treble 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Delgado's got 4 homers tonight against the Rays. Why couldn't he have done this in July or August?
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 YES!!!!!! Carlos Delgado has just hit his fourth home run of the night against Tampa Bay. And the game is tied in the 8th...if it goes extras, he could have a chance to hit 5...
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Since my Phillies aren't making the postseason, I hereby throw my support behind the Red Sox.
JangoFett4Hire 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Bored- to quote Mikey from the Goonies... "This is OUR TIME!" Sox will win the ALDS in 5 games, meet up with the Yanks in the ALCS, beat them in 5 games, and meet the Cubs in the World Series. Unfortunately, the asteroid that is supposed to collide with Earth in 2014 will arrive 11 years too early, and we will all cease to exist...
Guest Joe_G Report post Posted September 26, 2003 I dunno man, I really like this team. I got a feeling. Of course, I've had feeling before--so did my father and grandfather. But this year...I got a feeling.
JangoFett4Hire 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 This is a riot. Millar just doused Nixon in the face with some beer as he's being interviewed, and then he poured the rest of the beer on some cute chick reporter. Operation 11W is set to commence. KingPK 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Better was Nixon's Stone Cold Beer Can Smash. The Red Sox have now overtaken the Patriots as New England's Favorite Team. But really, David Ortiz for MVP.
treble 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Nah, that's Delgado's after tonight.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 What time is the Jays' first playoff game?
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 What time is the Jays' first playoff game? What position does Ortiz play? DH isn't a real position. Oh and no amount of arguing for Ortiz will convince me that he is the best player on the Red Sox. I think that's at least one qualification the winner of the MVP should meet even ahead of playing on a contender. Hell I'd vote A-Rod for MVP before I'd vote Ortiz. treble 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Seriously, though, Delgado's leads the majors in RBI (141), is tied for 2nd in the AL in HRs with Frank Thomas at 41, is 1st in OBP AND OPS and 3rd in slugging percentage. Also, if anyone is playing the A-Rod 'you don't have to play for a contender' card, Delgado has better numbers across the board than Rodriguez AND plays for a better team. I had my doubts over the past few weeks, but now, Delgado's my MVP.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 So the only race left in baseball is the NL Central. Astros or Cubs?
the max 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 *hopes for Astros*
treble 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 No. We NEED a Cubs/Red Sox World Series.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Well, ugh...if Cubs/Red Sox were to happen..Cubs would probably win in 7. Wont the playoffs go like this? Giants vs Marlins Braves vs Cubs/Astros Yankees vs Twins A's vs Red Sox
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 That's exactly how they'll go. I believe the Cubs have gone the longest without REACHING the World Series. Their last Series occured in 1945, notable for WWII, and a sportswriter quipping "I don't think either team can win."
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 David Ortiz for MVP. "Dear Rome, Did you see Lou Merloni move that runner over to 3rd with nobody out? That may merit MVP consideration. Sincerely, Peter Gammons"
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Todd Walker: "We're going to roll into Oakland...and whoop some ass." Better duck their Todd when you step in the box in Game 1. Who the fuck is Todd Walker? Gee I remember he was benched when the Red Sox played the A's last month.
