Mik Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Meltdown is impossible. The Marlins have clinched the wildcard and will play the Giants Tuesday.
Vern Gagne Posted September 27, 2003 Author Report Posted September 27, 2003 Take a leap off a cliff Astros.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 *hearts Richie Sexson and the rest of the Brew Crew...tonight anyway* I hope they can take one more, as I don't see the Cubs winning both tomorrow.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Like I point out in my preview, the Cubs could actually clinch tomorrow.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Does anyone know if they'll be broadcasting either one of the games on a station other than Fox Sports Net Chicago? I live in Michigan and can't believe that I'm supposedly getting the A's vs. the M's instead of a game that's taking place a couple hours from where I live.
Vern Gagne Posted September 27, 2003 Author Report Posted September 27, 2003 Grace seems like he'll end up on TV. If he wants to.
Guest Choken One Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Grace will likely do a BEST DAMN show type deal...
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Astros down by 3 in the bottom of the 9th.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 And its a final. The Astros have lost the first two games against the Brewers. The Cubs lead game 1 vs. the Pirates 4-2 in the 8th. The Cubs could actually clinch today if they pull off a sweep.
JHawk Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Can somebody explain to me FOX's logic when showing "regional coverage"? I just watched the Brewers-Astros game instead of the Cubs-Prates game despite the fact that I live less than two hours from Pittsburgh (and one of the FOX affiliates is closer to Pittsburgh than that). At least they showed an important game, but it seems like common sense would dictate otherwise.
CanadianChris Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Cubs beat the Pirates, 4-2. They have clinched at least a tie for the NL Central title, and can win their first division title in 14 years outright with a win in the second half of the doubleheader later today.
JHawk Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! Sorry, Harry Caray flashback!
Bruiser Chong Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 YES YES YES YES YES YES!!! If they can pull off a win later on tonight, I will streak through the streets of downtown Saginaw, Michigan...or maybe not. But if they don't do it tonight, well you may not wanna be around me. I'm hoping someone shows game 2, since it IS a very important game.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 I'm convinced that the worst problem baseball has, the absolute WORST, is the fact that FOX broadcasts important games. Because of the Pirates/Cubs game, the Phillies/Braves game was placed in a small box at the bottom of the screen. With two outs, a runner on, one run behind, and NO INDICATION OF THE COUNT. And Abreu ties the game, and John Smoltz blows a save. If Fox can't broadcast the game properly, then leave it to Comcast, who properly broadcasts the game, and lets us listen to the excellent Harry Kalas, instead of fucking Tim McCarver.
Bored Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Fox is a joke and MLB is a joke for ever signing a deal with them. I so hope when the current deal is up they go back to NBC or ABC.
The Czech Republic Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 I don't think NBC wants to touch the major sports anymore.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Tim McCarver, with Thome on 2nd, no outs, game tied. "This is an OBVIOUS bunting situation...." No its not. Giving the other team the first out so that you add a marginally better chance of scoring is not a good idea. Your odds are always better with 0 outs than with 1. Kevin Kennedy "If the Cubs make the playoffs, this is a different Cubs team than a few years ago." Well DUH.
Bored Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Jeanie Whatever the Fuck Her Name Is and Kevin Kennedy have to be the worst studio hosts ever. Kennedy has no personality at all and has no clue what happens in baseball outside the east coast and I have to wonder who Jeanie WTFHNI is blowing. Maybe I should wonder that about Kennedy too. Steal Karl Ravich and Harold Reynolds from ESPN for the playoffs STAT.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 When is the second Cubs game?
Rob E Dangerously Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Jeanie Whatever the Fuck Her Name Is and Kevin Kennedy have to be the worst studio hosts ever. Her name is Jennie Finch
Bruiser Chong Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 The second Cubs game is going on right now and it's already 6-0 in their favor in the third. Of course, instead of just giving us the game straight up, we've gotta settle for the two screen/two game thing, and now we've just got the A's/M's game. Not only is that ridiculous since I'm in Michigan, nowhere near Seattle or Oakland, but the other game actually means something, whereas the A's/M's game means shit. Good to see the Cubs being agressive in the early going, though.
JangoFett4Hire Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 No, Jennie Finch is the softball pitcher who is a regular on TWIB Bored was referring to Jeane Zelasko? (SP?)
Just John Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 The Astros keep my hopes up all year only to let me down on the second to last day of the season. The Cubs are raping the pirates and we can't even pull out a win over the worst team in the division. I'm just a tad pissed at the slacking the Astros did this last week of the season. Oh well. *breaks out Rockets gear*
Bruiser Chong Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 I wouldn't say the Brewers are anywhere near the worst team in the division. Regardless of what the standings say, they've played some good ball over the past month or so and have always prided themselves on being the playoff buzzsaw, if they weren't going to make postseason. They went into Chicago a couple weeks back and took two of three, and they're aiming to take three of four from the Stros on their home turf tomorrow, although, if the Cubs keep it up tonight, that'll be irrelevant.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 The Cubs are six outs away from the postseason, and up by six runs.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Go Cubs. heh
The Czech Republic Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Well, let's see if they can pull it off this year.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 *marks the fuck out* Yeah, the detractors are still there with the, "they'll choke" talk, but hey, at least they made the playoffs, unlike the teams that said detractors are fans of.
The Czech Republic Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 So this is BREAKING NEWS on channels 2, 7, 9, and 32.
