SK mentions that during the Snow/Lawler match tonight JR ripped into Coach with a lot of shoot comments, w/ one of them being "Mr. Pronoun" that he said only readers of the WON would know.

 

Anybody know the deal with this shit?

But yeah, a lot of things were referenced that Dave has said-in-the-past during that commentary. Coach not knowing (or bothering to know) any moves was mentioned on WOL on Sunday, JR not being pretty enough, the WWE only wanting "good looking" commentators, etc.

9/15 Raw:

- Main Event Interview: HHH is out to celebrate the end of Goldberg, and tries to coax the crowd into a Goldberg chant, but the fans are as bored with the show as I am. He’s beaten all the superstars that Goldberg has, and more. Did he ever get that win back over Hogan? Actually, I think he did on Smackdown in June or thereabouts. But I KNOW he’s never beaten Jerry Flynn. He has microphone problems as the excitement continues and he runs a mic check for like two minutes. He unveils a photo of Goldberg getting beaten up at Summerslam and the interview drags on and ON, as we go to footage of HHH beating up Goldberg. Goldberg finally responds from the back, however, and heads out to the ring. Why waste time warning him? He comes out and powerslams HHH, who crawls away. Wow, a POWERSLAM. That oughtta sell some PPVs. Not exactly a thrilling payoff to the endless HHH promo.

 

The Bottom Line:

 

Hey, there’s an Iron Man match on Smackdown that should probably be flirting with MOTY status if both guys are healthy. Sadly, I have no interest in seeing anything at Unforgiven, but if you like shitty wrestling and boring HHH promos, this was a great show to build it up. For the rest of us, the streak of crappy RAWs continues unabated. And unless HHH miraculously heals his groin in six days, that match is gonna be something to behold, and not in a good way.

 

9/1 Raw:

JR gives one of those weird shoot/work defenses of HHH where he says “A lot of people don’t like him, but look at who he’s beaten”. But of course wrestling is a work and he beats who the bookers tell him to beat. Or in HHH’s case, who he tells the bookers to tell him to beat.

 

8/4 Raw:

I mean, how do you go from a fairly big money match in HHH v. Goldberg (in theory) with HHH doing a quick job, to a muddled six-way gimmick match, and an unproven commodity at that? And RANDY ORTON? And Kevin Nash? What a fustercluck. Hey, betcha that HHH does a quick job to either Nash or Shawn to eliminate himself.

 

7/28 Raw:

They had GOLD with the RNN update stuff and Randy’s mock sincerity, and now he’s out there cutting these dull promos about how cool he is. Is HHH going around backstage and telling people they can’t interview main event style either now?

 

7/21 Raw:

I guess the best way to sum it up is to note that if you like Kane, you probably like the direction they’re going with the show, and I’ll leave it at that. The problem is that HHH has already destroyed all the top babyfaces, so there’s no one left on top for him to be programmed with

 

6/30 Raw:

Well, what a better way to celebrate Canada Day than with the firing of Roddy Piper and the quitting of Hulk Hogan in the same week? Some may call this a sign of the incompetence on the part of creative, but I say “You’re not trying hard ENOUGH!” That’s right, I want to see Undertaker and HHH storming out of the promotion within the next month, too, and then I’ll truly be happy

 

I like how HHH gets to work in ANOTHER pin on both Kane & RVD in consecutive weeks, though.

 

The Bottom Line:

 

Positives: No Kevin Nash! Whoo!

 

Um, that’s all I’ve got. The rest was a total yawnfest with a series of blatant screwjob finishes and HHH beating the odds to retain his title yet again. But hey, if you’re into gay guys and Booker blowing the big match time after time, this was YOUR show.

I wanted to see how strong they'd make Goldberg given that they made him look like a complete bitch for the past few weeks.

 

When HHH got the live mic you could see him thinking. I was like "oh, this should be good" and expected a smark-ass remark... and he came through in spades.
