Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 I love how the last words of the series (RRR, it's "Let's go to work") are from Reservoir Dogs.
Guest JMA Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Technically, Illyria was lying to Wesley about Fred being where he was going. Fred's SOUL was completely destroyed when Illyria took her body. She isn't in an afterlife. But Wes did ask for Illyria to lie to him.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Nah...that was the Butch and Sundance ending. Gunn died sometime very soon after that, and the rest went down in a blaze of glory. The only one left is Conner and that could be a spin-off. But the rest of them, for all extensive purposes, are dead. That was a ending. THAT was a show. THAT was what i devoted all these yars watching. Damn. Damn. Damn Damn Damn. I HATE the godamned WB for that bullshit THANK YOU...I hate them for giving me nothing to watch next year. Wes...man...I hate being right. Mark of death. Iwish it coulda been cooler, something with his magical shotgun that appears from nowhere. But that was tear jerking. Damn. I can't say anything else right now.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Gunn busting out the DOUBLE STAKES was fucking HOT. I marked like a bitch for that. A BITCH. I marked like one. It was crazy.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Yes, that was the poem he read to Cicely in Buffy Season 5. "effulgent" should have rang a bell. Dames

Guest JMA Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Take your technicalities OUTTA HERE~! Nope. It is kind of sad when you think about it. Knowing that Fred and Wes will NEVER be together again. But, that's how things work in the Whedonverse with relationships.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 No fucking shit. I thought he was poetrying on about him saving the world for Buffy in the Buffy Finale. Which is another thing. No amulet, no bracelet, no broach, no rings, no necklaces... *BIG POP*!
Guest JMA Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Spike's poetry reading was one of the highlights of the episode. Great sense of continuity by Joss (as always).

Guest JMA Report post Posted May 20, 2004 I bet all those fan fiction writers loved the ending as well.
Tawren 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 I think I marked most for Angel just busting shit up against Hamilton. "You shouldn't have said that last part!" and the THREE PUNCHES OF DEATH~! are quite possibly the coolest things ever. And I'll reiterate: perfect ending. Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Ah, the Farscape legacy lives on. Oh, and can I just how full of shit the WB is for those heart-felt comments? And one more thing- Wes will live on in my fiction. I was thinking the same thing about the "Thanks". Hey, WB... Fuck off. Yeah, Yeah I said it. They can keep their mass army of teen family dramedies. I'm going to watch quality TV. :turns on FOX: Dammit! And yes Mole, BEST EPISODE EVER. I'm glad I didn't read the spoilers, because if I did, I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much as I did. GREAT, GREAT way to end the series. The "take the day off" thing was beautiful. Gunn asking his friend about what she would do if it all meant nothing was a great way to show the overall meaning of the show. I would have killed Harmony off, but Angel swerving Harmony and still letting her live was the better decision. Lorne's sorrowful goodbye shows how much Fred's death effected the character. He just didn't want to be in any of this; he was just caught up in it. Linsey's death you could see coming but the actor delivered it like a pro (" I was supposed to be killed by Angel! A lackey!? A Goddamn lackey?!?!"). Spike reading poetry, Connor going out to save his dad, Angel outwitting Hamilton, it was all good. But the only two times I got misty-eyed were Wes's death and the end. The BEST way to end Wes's character, and the BEST way to write off Illyria. When she punched right through the guy's fucking SKULL you could you could feel every ounce of her anger/grief/determination. As for the ending, part of me hopes that we wll someday see the story continue, even if, like the ending, there's little to no chance. After all, I'm an optimist. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 "I want you Lindsay" NUFF SAID!!!!!!!!!!
Guest JMA Report post Posted May 20, 2004 I also didn't read the spoilers and was VERY surprised to see Anne. Just another example of Joss' flawless grasp of continuity.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Killing off Lindsay pissed me off. They showed Lorne shooting him in the preview, but I thought that was just Lorne betraying Angel. BAH!
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 You know, I've not been able to follow Angel like I wish I could. Only been able to pop in here and there on breaks from school. But I'm glad I got to see tonight's episode. And if someone doesn't pick up the rights and make a movie that picks up two seconds after the series ended, it will be a crime. Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 sorry for it being so big, but it's fitting: well, shit. there is a big as poster on Buffy.nu right now with Angel and "Goodbye" on it. Of course you'll be lucky if you can open it.

The Dames 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Personally, I think Lindsay was right...he deserved better than to be killed by Lorne. But I did like how Lorne was so emotionally drained that he was willing to do this last thing for Angel...and quit. When Lorne said after that night was over, he was out...I was thinking he was just a quitter, but then I got it. Dames
Mole 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Okay, well, umm, geez, where do I, umm, start. First off, THAT WAS FUCKIN AWESOME! To quote Superstar on AIM right after the epsidoe "That is how you end a series" and I'll say it again, but in my own words: That is how you end a fuckin good series. 1. I'm trying to think what to type here and nothing comes to mind. There was so much in the episode and I don't know where to start. 2. Angel signing over the Shansu Prophecy. Now that is what you call a fuckin CHAMPION. He wasn't fighting to human, he was just fighting because it was the right thing to do. That is why he is a TRUE CHAMPION and rules all. The question is if that pardons Spike too. 3. Angel telling everyone to spend the day the way they want to was pretty sweet. Spike drinking is what he likes to do. Lorne singing is what he does best. Gunn going back to his old neighborhood is what his old mission was. Angel going to see Connor is really the only thing that Angel really cares about. Lindsay making out with Eve is well, what I'd be doing too. 4. And best of all Wes helping Illyria out was so bittersweet. He had NOTHING else to do and helping out her was all he had. So fuckin bittersweet, but not as bittersweet as Buffy killing Angel. Nothing will beat that. 5. Spike doing poetry was a mark-out moment. His poetry has improved SO much since his William the Bloody days. One has to wonder if Spike had been writing poetry all along. 6. Angel telling Team Angel that one of them is going to betray him was awesome. One of the things about the series is the Christianity sub-text or whatever you call it, and they had to put something else in there. It was the perfect thing to put in too. 7. Now to the fighting because that was fuckin sweet. I wish I saw more of Lindsay with that sword because that was insane. Then Lorne just takes out a gun and fucks him up. Lindsay then telling Lorne "You, you killed me a flunky. Angel was supposed to kill me, Angel was supposed to kill me." Then Lorne just walks away, perfect, perfect, awesome, sweet. 8. Gunn going into the Senator's office and fuckin her up was insane. Out of nowhere, he wips out the axe and throws it at her head. Then he starts dusting vamps left and right, which was something we needed. In the beginning of the series, Angel kills some vampires. We needed to have Gunn kill some vampires because that is where the Buffyverse started out. 9. Illyria fuckin up the other guys so quickly was sweet because that is what she does best. Then you have Wes going to kill the other guy, forget his name. "I crap that magic" was pretty sweet. He then uses the force and gets the knife in his hand, stabs Wes in the gut. Illyria comes over and that was SO GOD DAMN FUCKIN JESUS CHRIST SAD. I never ever cry in movies/TV and I had tears in my eyes. And Illyria defiently lied to him, in a big way. Fred and Wes will NEVER be together, even in the after life because Fred's soul was destroyed. Now that came very close to the Buffy killing Angel in the bittersweet catagory. Just like they have a Muta scale for blood, there is now a BuffAngel scale for bittersweetness. Wes dieing is a .8 on the BuffAngel scale. 10. Spike's fight wasn't as cool as I hoped, but it was still sweet. The fact that he killed those demons with a baby in his hand was gang star. 11. Then we get to the Hamilton/Angel fight. I marked out the most for this fight out of all of the others. First off, they had the same exact music that was during THE BEAST/Angel fight from "Apacolypse Nowish." And that is my favorite fight of all time in television, maybe movies too. Then when Angel punches Hamilton and he asks "Did that hurt at all?" "A little bit." Then Connor comes into the fight and that was a mark out moment, even though I knew it was going to happen. Angel vamping out and biting Hamilton was gang star. The way he killed him was pretty anti-climatic, seeing how he punched him in the face and it broke his neck or whatever. That is the ONLY beef I have with the episode. 12. Then you have the ending. Everyone meeting in the alley, and a fuckin army is coming. That final convo was so awesome, only Mr. Joss Whedon himself could have written it: Gunn: Okay, you take the 30,000 to the left. Illyria: You're fading, you'll only last ten minutes. Gunn: Then lets make it memborable. Spike: Any chance of a plan? Angel: We fight. Spike: Bit more specific. Angel: Well personally, I kind of want to fight a dragon. Lets go to work. And that summerizes the series perfectly, lets go to work. Thank you Joss, that was very memorable. After all, everything he's dones he's only done to climb the corperate ladder, even screwing Eve. It's fitting that the guy be kill by somebody he would think is beneathe him. Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 I honestly don't see how they could have a movie or any spin-off's of Angel after that ending. Going back to the first couple episodes and remembering how much I hated Lindsay for being a smarmy little bastard, I'm glad he got killed by a 'flunky'. I, too, missed the Shotgun of Doom. He had the knife pop out of one sleeve, WHY NOT THE SHOTGUN OUT OF THE OTHER?! (I don't know how, magic or something) Why hasn't Angel signing away the Shanshu prophecy been brought up? I thought that was one of the best parts. One of the most important things in the entire show, pretty much the one good thing Angel may have had to look forward to, got signed away so they could hurt the Senior Partners a little bit. EDIT: Damn, someone posted before I could finish my post. But still... Oh, and I loved the Pylea fight reference ("You take the 3,000 on the left")
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 I'd rank Wes/Fred higher than Buffy/Angel, but that's mainly because I've invested more into Wes/Fred, and I loooooooved that payoff (both of them, actually - Hole in the World included).
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Although they said that Fred's soul is gone, part of me thinks they were just toying with us. Someone already said they had plans to bring Fred back in season 6. And besides, Wes always has Cordy to hook up with in the afterlife.
Anya 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 I don't know what to make of the ending. It's so weird. I think I'll hate it eventually when it really sinks in. I don't want to think of them as all dead. I feel kind of cheated. I'm upset about Wes. I love him, but it's kind of hard to be really sad because it seems like he didn't have much to live for lately. At least his death was a lot better than Anya's. I don't get the Lorne story at all. It sucks. Hamilton was really cool.
